Greetings, comrades of the Seventh Cabinet of the DSA!

Congratulations on being elected or reelected to your respective Cabinet positions and I look forward to working with all of you in this new cabinet. The issues below are what the cabinet will be deliberating on, and like in previous cabinets, these recommendations are simply what I would like the 7th Cabinet to discuss as its shared agenda. All of you are free to provide any feedback, ideas, or additional issues that you believe should be discussed by our cabinet.

For all new cabinet members, this meeting is designed to be a discussion of our region's issues as a whole and the various initiatives concerning each individual Cabinet member. Therefore, I recommend that all of you participate in this meeting at least once per meeting in order to keep the entire Cabinet informed of your various tasks, duties, and concerns. Each meeting, you will receive a small list of recommendations for your ministry to address, but you do not need to discuss all of your recommendations at once, as long as you get to each of them eventually. And with this statement, I officially open the 1st Cabinet Meeting of the 7th Cabinet.

1. Amendment #39: Total Revision of the Charter

2. Complete commendation for Grolsch

3. Review jobs offered in the 'Help Wanted' subforum (if you want an assistant for your ministry, post the job in the subforum)

4. NS Cultural Expo
I have not heard from the main nation about this in quite some time, but this is still a possibility.

5. Leftist Alliance (Continuation of IRALL)
I think this discussion should start all over again, possibly on the NS forum, to try to create a large leftist alliance, like what was proposed with the IRALL treaty.

6. International and Embassy Expansion
After some recent incidents, I think it is important to look for some new regions and approaching them about diplomatic relations. We already have one embassy (UDLS) on the way, but I would like to find some other new embassies.

7. Automated Welcoming Telegrams

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Items for individual ministries to address:

Secretary General (SG):
1. Along with me, encourage maximum participation for the Charter Revision so that it gets done.
2. Make sure everything is updated (Amendments, Charter nations, etc.)
3. Once the Charter Revision is finished, start a voting process for both the revision and the commendation for Grolsch.
4. Appoint an advisor, if desired

Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA):
1. Make embassy recommendations to P/WAD
2. Keep an eye on the UDLS. The embassy should be established soon.
3. Try to find new regions to potentially establish embassies with. Also, try to create some closer friendships and alliances with some of our existing embassies.
4. Appoint an advisor, if desired

Minister of Justice/Head of Supreme Court (MoJ):
1. Audit region for Civil Rights (CR), Political Freedoms (PF), and National Categories (NC) compliance
2. Make recommendations to P/WAD for nations to eject, if any
--I would like to eject as few nations as possible until Charter Amendment #39 is completed, but report all of the violators anyway.
--Last term, Ratateague and I would give extensions to improving nations in order to prevent ejections of nations that are trying to improve.
3. Contact Ratateague to familiarize yourself with the position

Minister of Immigration/Regional Promotion (MIRP):
1. Make sure the auto-telegram system is transferred and working properly.
2. Try to find more info about the NS Cultural Expo

Minister of Domestic Affairs (MDA):
1. Come up with new debate ideas.
2. Try to come up with a new contest or game, although we already have a lot at the moment.
3. Update all the information in the NS Wiki.
--There should not be too much to change. Mainly population and a few other minor details.
4. Update all the information in the DSA Capitol
5. Appoint an advisor, if desired

Minister of Cartography (MoC): (or interim MoC)
1. Verify all nations on map are:
--Existing
--Reside in the region (domestic puppets okay, too)
2. Add nations from map opt-in subforum who request placement on map
3. Essentially just keep the map current and updated
4. Contact The Saint James Islands to familiarize yourself with the position.

Well... time certainly does fly. I can't believe it's actually this close to elections already. Everything is running smoothly in my department if anyone wants a status update. Autotelegramming has had a few minor hiccups since I last posted, but it is currently up and running without a problem.

In regards to SAM, I'd agree that our approach of ignoring him and letting him speak has been working. I most certainly find his poll interesting for personal reflective purposes, but I disagree with the political motivations behind it. The Cabinet's job is to keep the region running smoothly, not to pander to partisanship (and this is a lesson many governments might be interested in taking). For this reason, combined with the question of how to assign Cabinet posts, I would stand against any sort of "proportional representation" system for Cabinet elections.

About the UFN, I'd say that I'm on the fence about an embassy. I find Gervase's criticisms from earlier today particularly valid, though I would like to say that their sending over an ambassador is a credit to them, even if they did it on our suggestion. If the RMB discussion turns out well and no further hiccups happen, the we can talk about pursuing an embassy. It's a process that'll take time, but we ought not be hasty about what we get ourselves tangled up in.

Regarding SAM, I felt like I had to respond, but we ca entirely ignore his poll like both of you said. It is interesting to see how the nations of the DSA view themselves though.

Regarding the embassy, I am also in between as I have stated several times already. I am just waiting to see how everything plays out with the embassy at this point.

I concur that we should just ignore the renewed call for factions. I don't know why SAM is trying so hard to shoehorn this pointless construct in our region. It seems unnatural and just confirms my suspicions that they are a TI puppet trying to sabotage our region. Paying it any public lip service whatsoever only keeps the idea alive; so let's commit to just ignoring it. Hopefully when the UFN embassy discussion gets resolved SAM's renewed interest in trying to splinter the region will lose steam once again.

I just got this telegram from Kryftland about a 2013 Leftist Expo:

Any thoughts or ideas?

The Expo is definitely something we should get involved with, and I actually really like the banner. This is probably mainly in the MIRP's remit, though.

I will definitely say that I'm interested in participating, especially since it looks like the NS World Fair is going nowhere. I'll go look over the old thread for some inspiration. And since we have some time, I'd say we should use some crowd-sourcing for this and get opinions from the rest of the region. (Also, kudos to Kryftland on the banner.)

On the rest of the MIRP-dom:
I'm a tad concerned about our recent population decline, but we still remain strong. VF's recent explosion almost gave me a heart attack and certainly proves, in a fit of regional rivalry, that we ought to redouble our efforts at recruitment, if only to maintain the numbers we already have. I'm currently in the process of rewriting our recruitment telegram, as I think we could emphasise our community a little more than we currently do. I've also been making a point to reply to those who reply to our recruitment telegram, even if not so positively, as the little things help in an increasingly competitive recruitment market. I'm also thinking of starting a thread about our region in the Gameplay forum (the VF are certainly a good model in this department).

Thinking ahead for a moment, I'd like to take Gervase's original suggestion and start working closely with the MoJ and MDA if I return for a second term. I'd also like to see the MoRP start to develop a roleplay community here in the DSA so I can boast about that to new nations and established ones. Roleplayers can definitely be a huge boon to our region and I'd be interested in taking part in one myself.

Regarding the Leftist Expo, I'll respond back to Kryftland once a few other Cabinet Members respond, but this expo will probably be on the agenda of the next cabinet.

Regarding our population, it is definitely a surprise that the VF grew so much, while we declined. I agree that rewriting the telegram, starting a thread in the gameplay forum (along with possibly other forums as well), and expanding the Role Playing aspect of the DSA would help. I would also suggest to maybe create a few more government positions because this could give some nations the incentive to stay. For example, with the expansion of the RP ministry, we could appoint department heads for the different RP departments in the Charter.

Also, I already showed this to Terlibe, but what do you think about my opening to the Interregional Alliance Treaty Discussion?

Great idea about expanding roleplay. It's something I would be interested in participating in as well. On recruitment, as soon as Afforess's new web-based tool is available, we should absolutely look into that. I think one of the problems we're experiencing is that our messages aren't getting out there fast enough, so we're hitting a lot of full inboxes. I know Afforess's design attempts to address that problem. Do we know what tool the VF is using, by the way? It might be worth asking.

I wonder if they'll even want us at the expo in light of recent events.
