Greetings, comrades of the Seventh Cabinet of the DSA! Congratulations on being elected or reelected to your respective Cabinet positions and I look forward to working with all of you in this new cabinet. The issues below are what the cabinet will be deliberating on, and like in previous cabinets, these recommendations are simply what I would like the 7th Cabinet to discuss as its shared agenda. All of you are free to provide any feedback, ideas, or additional issues that you believe should be discussed by our cabinet. For all new cabinet members, this meeting is designed to be a discussion of our region's issues as a whole and the various initiatives concerning each individual Cabinet member. Therefore, I recommend that all of you participate in this meeting at least once per meeting in order to keep the entire Cabinet informed of your various tasks, duties, and concerns. Each meeting, you will receive a small list of recommendations for your ministry to address, but you do not need to discuss all of your recommendations at once, as long as you get to each of them eventually. And with this statement, I officially open the 1st Cabinet Meeting of the 7th Cabinet. 3. Review jobs offered in the 'Help Wanted' subforum (if you want an assistant for your ministry, post the job in the subforum) 4. NS Cultural Expo I have not heard from the main nation about this in quite some time, but this is still a possibility. 5. Leftist Alliance (Continuation of IRALL) I think this discussion should start all over again, possibly on the NS forum, to try to create a large leftist alliance, like what was proposed with the IRALL treaty. 6. International and Embassy Expansion After some recent incidents, I think it is important to look for some new regions and approaching them about diplomatic relations. We already have one embassy (UDLS) on the way, but I would like to find some other new embassies. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items for individual ministries to address: Secretary General (SG): 1. Along with me, encourage maximum participation for the Charter Revision so that it gets done. 2. Make sure everything is updated (Amendments, Charter nations, etc.) 4. Appoint an advisor, if desired Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA): 1. Make embassy recommendations to P/WAD 3. Try to find new regions to potentially establish embassies with. Also, try to create some closer friendships and alliances with some of our existing embassies. 4. Appoint an advisor, if desired Minister of Justice/Head of Supreme Court (MoJ): 1. Audit region for Civil Rights (CR), Political Freedoms (PF), and National Categories (NC) compliance 2. Make recommendations to P/WAD for nations to eject, if any --I would like to eject as few nations as possible until Charter Amendment #39 is completed, but report all of the violators anyway. --Last term, Ratateague and I would give extensions to improving nations in order to prevent ejections of nations that are trying to improve. Minister of Immigration/Regional Promotion (MIRP): 2. Try to find more info about the NS Cultural Expo Minister of Domestic Affairs (MDA): 1. Come up with new debate ideas. 2. Try to come up with a new contest or game, although we already have a lot at the moment. 3. Update all the information in the NS Wiki. --There should not be too much to change. Mainly population and a few other minor details. 4. Update all the information in the DSA Capitol 5. Appoint an advisor, if desired Minister of Cartography (MoC): (or interim MoC) 1. Verify all nations on map are: --Existing --Reside in the region (domestic puppets okay, too) 2. Add nations from map opt-in subforum who request placement on map 3. Essentially just keep the map current and updated Edited by Haltari, 26 Sep 2013, 04:07.

That's a good point, Haltari. One thing I was torn about was the scope of this. I thought it would be fun to involve the SLU for sure and perhaps our other allies as well. The flip side is that we'd be opening this up to a very broad audience which could attract trolls, spammers, etc. That could make the job of policing IP addresses very difficult. If we kept it just to the DSA, do you think we would get enough participation? If not I'd be willing to use [region]The Leftist Interregional Library[/region] as the home base. That is intended to be a neutral leftist region; though I've been delayed in setting it up properly (still a work in progress). MDA progress update (5, Oct. 2013): Just started the debate about voting philosophy Just started nominations for a new factbook entry contest *3. Update all the information in the NS Wiki. --There should not be too much to change. Mainly population and a few other minor details.* I have not been successful with accessing the wiki page - does anyone know how I can fix that? If not it's not the end of the world since all the basic information from the wiki is in the Capitol factbook now, I believe. The Capitol of the DSA factbook is now finally updated. I have been in contact with Arahu to address a couple discrepancies with the map; otherwise no major issues. Won't be necessary as I have been able to learn the ropes thanks to Grobladonia ![]() I have also started a poll on the DSA Daily Digest to figure out how it's being received by the region and whether changes need to be made. The vibe in the region seems pretty good. RMB activity is steady with no major conflicts at the moment. As always, please offer any feedback, advice, or ideas you may have on how I could be doing something better or new. Thank you!

@Suceavija It would be a lot of fun to include just our allies because the DSA alone wouldn't provide enough members. Also, if you are establishing an entirely new region/forum for this, then that would be preferable. I guess we could still have elected administrators and moderators for this new Interregional Assembly, so policing the assembly shouldn't be too difficult. Also, I don't expect this assembly to ever reach such a level that spammers and trolls would be too difficult to control either. Regarding the NS Wiki, I know Grobladonia had an account that he used for that, but contacting him about that might be a bit difficult. I also have an account, but that doesn't always work. I can try logging in with that account to see if it works for that page. |

Suceavija, that's a very interesting idea you have there. Using the NS forums would definitely allow for the broadest participation, but if you're worried about junking it up and bad moderation I can see where you'd want to create your own forum. In terms of real-life inspiration, you might want to take a look at the ILO website -- they have a big list of conventions that are all about protecting workers. Also, just to let everyone know, Jenlom, who is the Minister of Justice of the VF, has organized a conference of the Ministers of Justice of our embassy regions this weekend. I've posted talking points for the DSA and will update everyone with our conclusions and results. I just finished doing a complete sweep of the region for category, PF, and CR violations. We had quite a few -- by my count, 14% of the region was in violation. That's not quite as bad as it sounds, though, because half of those were nations that had one "Below Average" category and therefore need just a little boost to get into compliance. I've sent out TGs to the violators, so we'll see how people do over the next seven days. Link to the violations spreadsheet.. |

I recently recieved a telegram from the MFA of the Next Generation Alliance, a defender region, requesting that our regions create an embassy and establish diplomatic relations. I responded with: "Hello, Minister! Although I greatly appreciate your interest in the DSA, AMD respect your region as a whole, the DSA is neutral when it comes to raiding and defending and therefor feel that it is not in our best interests to align with a defender region. I hope you understand our position [nation]Terlibe[/nation] Minister of Foreign Affairs of the [region]Democratic Socialist Assembly[/region]" |

I sent Warzikstan a TG on October 11 giving them a week to get in compliance with the Charter, which I'm sure they won't do. I think this will cease to be a problem on October 18 when we eject them. |

@Gervase Yeah. He really isn't that big of a problem to me because at least he starts debates about things like guns and religion, even though some of the things he is saying are absurd and ridiculous. Also, since there are just over 2 weeks until the next election cycle, I wanted to ask all of you if there is anything that you want to get done. My main goals of the Charter, Grolsch commendation, and the application for the NS World Fair have been completed, so just wanted to fulfill any of your personal goals in this last month of the 7th cabinet. |
