Greetings, comrades of the Seventh Cabinet of the DSA! Congratulations on being elected or reelected to your respective Cabinet positions and I look forward to working with all of you in this new cabinet. The issues below are what the cabinet will be deliberating on, and like in previous cabinets, these recommendations are simply what I would like the 7th Cabinet to discuss as its shared agenda. All of you are free to provide any feedback, ideas, or additional issues that you believe should be discussed by our cabinet. For all new cabinet members, this meeting is designed to be a discussion of our region's issues as a whole and the various initiatives concerning each individual Cabinet member. Therefore, I recommend that all of you participate in this meeting at least once per meeting in order to keep the entire Cabinet informed of your various tasks, duties, and concerns. Each meeting, you will receive a small list of recommendations for your ministry to address, but you do not need to discuss all of your recommendations at once, as long as you get to each of them eventually. And with this statement, I officially open the 1st Cabinet Meeting of the 7th Cabinet. 3. Review jobs offered in the 'Help Wanted' subforum (if you want an assistant for your ministry, post the job in the subforum) 4. NS Cultural Expo I have not heard from the main nation about this in quite some time, but this is still a possibility. 5. Leftist Alliance (Continuation of IRALL) I think this discussion should start all over again, possibly on the NS forum, to try to create a large leftist alliance, like what was proposed with the IRALL treaty. 6. International and Embassy Expansion After some recent incidents, I think it is important to look for some new regions and approaching them about diplomatic relations. We already have one embassy (UDLS) on the way, but I would like to find some other new embassies. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items for individual ministries to address: Secretary General (SG): 1. Along with me, encourage maximum participation for the Charter Revision so that it gets done. 2. Make sure everything is updated (Amendments, Charter nations, etc.) 4. Appoint an advisor, if desired Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA): 1. Make embassy recommendations to P/WAD 3. Try to find new regions to potentially establish embassies with. Also, try to create some closer friendships and alliances with some of our existing embassies. 4. Appoint an advisor, if desired Minister of Justice/Head of Supreme Court (MoJ): 1. Audit region for Civil Rights (CR), Political Freedoms (PF), and National Categories (NC) compliance 2. Make recommendations to P/WAD for nations to eject, if any --I would like to eject as few nations as possible until Charter Amendment #39 is completed, but report all of the violators anyway. --Last term, Ratateague and I would give extensions to improving nations in order to prevent ejections of nations that are trying to improve. Minister of Immigration/Regional Promotion (MIRP): 2. Try to find more info about the NS Cultural Expo Minister of Domestic Affairs (MDA): 1. Come up with new debate ideas. 2. Try to come up with a new contest or game, although we already have a lot at the moment. 3. Update all the information in the NS Wiki. --There should not be too much to change. Mainly population and a few other minor details. 4. Update all the information in the DSA Capitol 5. Appoint an advisor, if desired Minister of Cartography (MoC): (or interim MoC) 1. Verify all nations on map are: --Existing --Reside in the region (domestic puppets okay, too) 2. Add nations from map opt-in subforum who request placement on map 3. Essentially just keep the map current and updated Edited by Haltari, 26 Sep 2013, 04:07.

I would like to propose a new policy for the Cabinet: every time a rogue nation comes into the DSA to poach our comrades for another region, we should return the act 5-10-fold in their region. I've been solicited 3 times by [nation]vandoosa[/nation] for the region, [region]Glorious Nations of Iwaku[/region]. I've already contacted the mods about this and informed them that the DSA is an Arnhelm Signatory region (only to go through the motions - they are worthless in matters of justice). I purchased mass-TG capabilities when I became a site supporter; so I'll be happy to take care of this personally. However, I wanted to get all your opinions about this before I act on my irritation since I don't want to bring harm to the DSA as an unintended consequence if any of you think that is a possibility. I was thinking of just mass-TG'ing their region once a day for a week or so. Maybe longer

Yeah. I would contact that nation first, and as the WAD and PoC, I can do that to make I the telegram have a bit more gravity at least in vandoosa's eyes. Also, I feel like doing that kind of counter-campaign would break our compliance with the arnhelm declaration of recruitment standards, even though my puppets have received the same irritating telegrams. |

For those who don't know, back in the 4th cabinet, Unibot actually proposed establishing some kind of DSA-UDL relations. This was dropped due to disputes with TI, but now he has brought it up to me again. Even though Uni is my friend, I personally think that a DSA-UDL relationship would bring more problems than benefits at the moment simply because of the possibility of Ti striking again. What do all of you think? |

I would agree with you, Haltari. We've managed to have some peace in the DSA for some time now, and I wouldn't want relations with the UDL to ruin that. Also, we as a region don't take sides on the R/D battle, so a relationship with the UDL would breach that neutrality. |

Unibot is extrememly persuasive, isn't he? Last time this happened he wouldn't take no for an answer. He's a good guy though, and a good friend of mine. However, I really think official relations with the UDL would be detrimental.

I don't support relations with the UDL. This would tarnish the long standing neutrality of the region, and it would be pointless for us to go ally with the defenders. And don't get me wrong, I support the UDL, but we shouldn't ally with them. |

Re: formal UDL partnership I reluctantly must decline supporting formal relations with UDL. It would technically violate our long-time neutral stance and the hell we'd get from TI is unbearable to even contemplate... I feel we should owe a lot of our region's relative tranquility to the fact that we don't get involved in raiding or defending as a region. Partnering with the UDL could get us negative attention from other raiders that normally don't bother us because we haven't bothered them, given them reason to, or aligned with those who have. I'm not particularly interested in tempting fate or finding out whether this hypothesis is correct. When Uni approached me about this proposal back in the day, the most I was willing to offer was a spot in our forum from which to passively advertise/recruit. I think this would be okay since I see our forum as a library in which the subforum for the UDL would just be a book among many others. We're not promoting or denigrating it; it's just available for people to 'read.' I think we'd have to open this particular forum up to any defender group to avoid legitimate criticism from TI and we'd have to give it a neutral name. That's my two cents. Re: Retaliating against the violator of the Arnhelm treaty I'm going to let it go. I don't want to risk getting us into trouble and I've spent way too much time on my factbook to get Suceavija deleted by the mods Plus I think I was just cranky, hungry, and under-slept when I brought it up Sorry about that.

I'm working on the new RP initiative that I've been wanting to do for months now. I wanted to combine my desire to create a leftist alternative to the WTO with my disgust with the WA with an . Before I roll it out officially, I wanted to run it past you all to get preliminary feedback. The big questions I'm grappling with right now are whether or not to use the DSA Forum to host it or set up a new one, and whether to introduce a leadership structure or just manage it alone. Without further ado, I present to you all my proposal for the Interregional Assembly of Leftist Nations: "Greetings, fellow leftists of all stripes: This forum serves as the home of the IALN. This role-play organization seeks to provide a rational alternative legislative body to the World Assembly (WA), specifically for leftist nations and regions within the realm of NationStates. It shall be comprised of two main bodies: the General Affairs Council (GAC) and the Interregional Justice Council (IJC) that shall function similarly to the WA's General Assembly and Security Council respectively. The scope of affairs upon which the IALN shall legislate includes but not is not limited to: Human rights Economic affairs Social concerns Environmental regulations Workers' rights and safety International and interregional trade Military defense and combat International and interregional dispute resolution Commendations and condemnations The scope of the IALN (what and whether certain resolutions are binding between regions) Terms of IALN membership: Membership is voluntary. This body shall be administered through the official Forum of the Democratic Socialist Assembly. Any NationStates player with a nation that resides in a registered region shall be permitted to be a member of this body. All members must declare their region of origin. All members may propose, debate, and vote on resolutions. Members may not solicit other members for IALN purposes." I would like to request temporary and conditional admin privileges to set up the separate subforum structure for the IALN. Let me know what you all think of the project! When the subforum is all set up I'll announce it to the region and our allied regions to get things rolling. Edited by Suceavija, 4 Oct 2013, 23:03.

Regarding the UDL, I agree with all the points that were made, and I will relay them to Unibot. I know he really wanted this, so I don't know how he is going to react. @Suceavija I like your idea, and I think it could be a lot more fun than the mess the WA is, although I don't know if using the DSA forum is best when so many other outside nations could be involved. |
