Greetings, comrades of the Seventh Cabinet of the DSA! Congratulations on being elected or reelected to your respective Cabinet positions and I look forward to working with all of you in this new cabinet. The issues below are what the cabinet will be deliberating on, and like in previous cabinets, these recommendations are simply what I would like the 7th Cabinet to discuss as its shared agenda. All of you are free to provide any feedback, ideas, or additional issues that you believe should be discussed by our cabinet. For all new cabinet members, this meeting is designed to be a discussion of our region's issues as a whole and the various initiatives concerning each individual Cabinet member. Therefore, I recommend that all of you participate in this meeting at least once per meeting in order to keep the entire Cabinet informed of your various tasks, duties, and concerns. Each meeting, you will receive a small list of recommendations for your ministry to address, but you do not need to discuss all of your recommendations at once, as long as you get to each of them eventually. And with this statement, I officially open the 1st Cabinet Meeting of the 7th Cabinet. 3. Review jobs offered in the 'Help Wanted' subforum (if you want an assistant for your ministry, post the job in the subforum) 4. NS Cultural Expo I have not heard from the main nation about this in quite some time, but this is still a possibility. 5. Leftist Alliance (Continuation of IRALL) I think this discussion should start all over again, possibly on the NS forum, to try to create a large leftist alliance, like what was proposed with the IRALL treaty. 6. International and Embassy Expansion After some recent incidents, I think it is important to look for some new regions and approaching them about diplomatic relations. We already have one embassy (UDLS) on the way, but I would like to find some other new embassies. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items for individual ministries to address: Secretary General (SG): 1. Along with me, encourage maximum participation for the Charter Revision so that it gets done. 2. Make sure everything is updated (Amendments, Charter nations, etc.) 4. Appoint an advisor, if desired Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA): 1. Make embassy recommendations to P/WAD 3. Try to find new regions to potentially establish embassies with. Also, try to create some closer friendships and alliances with some of our existing embassies. 4. Appoint an advisor, if desired Minister of Justice/Head of Supreme Court (MoJ): 1. Audit region for Civil Rights (CR), Political Freedoms (PF), and National Categories (NC) compliance 2. Make recommendations to P/WAD for nations to eject, if any --I would like to eject as few nations as possible until Charter Amendment #39 is completed, but report all of the violators anyway. --Last term, Ratateague and I would give extensions to improving nations in order to prevent ejections of nations that are trying to improve. Minister of Immigration/Regional Promotion (MIRP): 2. Try to find more info about the NS Cultural Expo Minister of Domestic Affairs (MDA): 1. Come up with new debate ideas. 2. Try to come up with a new contest or game, although we already have a lot at the moment. 3. Update all the information in the NS Wiki. --There should not be too much to change. Mainly population and a few other minor details. 4. Update all the information in the DSA Capitol 5. Appoint an advisor, if desired Minister of Cartography (MoC): (or interim MoC) 1. Verify all nations on map are: --Existing --Reside in the region (domestic puppets okay, too) 2. Add nations from map opt-in subforum who request placement on map 3. Essentially just keep the map current and updated Edited by Haltari, 26 Sep 2013, 04:07.

Chiming in with the other Cabinet members, I'd develop the World Fair idea more by thinking about what goes into an RL event like this. It's an opportunity to show off your national culture, maybe play some sports, try out the local cuisine, and so on. I'd look at the previous year's fair and build on that, too. Suceavija, the OAS is very consensus-based—very few votes are taken, especially contentious ones. Most of the time, the USA is just one voice out of 34, and things that the USA isn't too happy about do happen at the OAS from time to time. Just recently there was a special meeting that produced a resolution condemning the countries that forced Evo Morales' plane to divert during the Snowden affair, which of course the USA didn't join consensus on. In terms of labor affairs, the tone is generally very pro-worker. We talk about the right to freedom of association and collective bargaining a lot, which everyone says are important, despite what happens in reality much of the time. The interesting thing about our meetings of Ministers is that they're tripartite, which means that unionized workers and employers have a seat at the table along with countries' representatives. It makes for some very interesting discussions, and you can start to tease out people's underlying motives after a point. Overall, eliminating child and forced labor, promoting occupational health and safety, trying to encourage job creation, ensuring basic minimum wages, and fighting discrimination are things everyone agrees on. |

I'm in agreement with Gervase that we could push this thing in a few different directions. I don't know what all we are limited to, and I do realize that TSJI is on the hook for whatever extra work we come up with However, I think it would be cool to add some things to the already good proposal. Should we workshop it to the rest of the region? At least that much of it could be delegated ![]() Gervase, thank you for your perspective and insight into the OAS. I am glad that an organization such as this is keeping the best interests of the people at the heart of their activities. I'm also curious as to what impact decisions made in the OAS have on 'free' trade agreements between member states? |

I love the idea of hosting the World Fair, and I really like TSJI's bid, however I'm not a huge fan of the theme idea, no offense. Then again, I don't seem to have any better ideas at the moment, either... |

Also, I think we should create a section on our forums dedicated to talking about this interregional alliance. I could ask each future member to send a diplomat to participate. I have noticed that the discussion has died down in all four regions, and this is something I really want to happen. |

@Terlibe: That sounds like a good plan for moving the idea forward. If you want to try that, I haven't any objections. On the World Fair, thank you for the suggestions. I've added sports events to the bid and tweaked the theme idea a bit. If there aren't any major objections or mistakes, I'll go ahead and submit this.

@TSJI This looks good, but I would take out "Biggest Commie" from this. Not everyone there will necessarily be a communist, socialist, or even leftist, so that contest would be somewhat exclusive to people near that ideology. Other than that, I think it's fine for submission. |

It was supposed to make a reference to our overall leftist leanings. That contest might actually be kind of feasible at the actual World Fair, alongside an alternate version for rightist nations. But I'll go ahead and take it out. |

I've got something that we could possibly include in the World Fair: I'm hopefully going to be able to have the bulk of my new project in tact, at least in concept, soon for the Interregional Assembly of Leftist Nations (IALN). It's a RP thing; not an alternative to the UDLS. It's meant to function as a (somewhat) serious alternative to the WA, similar in most respects except the conservative and vindictive BS that is rampant in the WA these days ![]() While it allows us to get closer to sculpting our ideal society, it also offers a chance to engage with other leftist regions (allies and otherwise) in a different capacity than we currently do. I will need to crowd-source some things; but I'll try to get the majority of it ready very soon! |

Actually, to follow up on something I mentioned earlier, I think a sort of national recipe contest or food fair could be really fun. You could let people vote on whose national dish sounds the tastiest. @Suceavija: The OAS doesn't directly influence the agreements that member states make among themselves, which is where trade agreements usually happen, but we do keep track of what trade agreements have labor clauses attached to them. Sometimes that happens in the treaty itself and sometimes it's done as a side agreement to the main treaty. The last big multilateral free trade treaty that was discussed at the OAS never happened: check out the Free Trade Area of the Americas. |

I like both of those ideas. We should add those. Also, I don't exactly know when the submission deadline in, but we should get this in soon. |
