Greetings, comrades of the Seventh Cabinet of the DSA! Congratulations on being elected or reelected to your respective Cabinet positions and I look forward to working with all of you in this new cabinet. The issues below are what the cabinet will be deliberating on, and like in previous cabinets, these recommendations are simply what I would like the 7th Cabinet to discuss as its shared agenda. All of you are free to provide any feedback, ideas, or additional issues that you believe should be discussed by our cabinet. For all new cabinet members, this meeting is designed to be a discussion of our region's issues as a whole and the various initiatives concerning each individual Cabinet member. Therefore, I recommend that all of you participate in this meeting at least once per meeting in order to keep the entire Cabinet informed of your various tasks, duties, and concerns. Each meeting, you will receive a small list of recommendations for your ministry to address, but you do not need to discuss all of your recommendations at once, as long as you get to each of them eventually. And with this statement, I officially open the 1st Cabinet Meeting of the 7th Cabinet. 3. Review jobs offered in the 'Help Wanted' subforum (if you want an assistant for your ministry, post the job in the subforum) 4. NS Cultural Expo I have not heard from the main nation about this in quite some time, but this is still a possibility. 5. Leftist Alliance (Continuation of IRALL) I think this discussion should start all over again, possibly on the NS forum, to try to create a large leftist alliance, like what was proposed with the IRALL treaty. 6. International and Embassy Expansion After some recent incidents, I think it is important to look for some new regions and approaching them about diplomatic relations. We already have one embassy (UDLS) on the way, but I would like to find some other new embassies. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items for individual ministries to address: Secretary General (SG): 1. Along with me, encourage maximum participation for the Charter Revision so that it gets done. 2. Make sure everything is updated (Amendments, Charter nations, etc.) 4. Appoint an advisor, if desired Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA): 1. Make embassy recommendations to P/WAD 3. Try to find new regions to potentially establish embassies with. Also, try to create some closer friendships and alliances with some of our existing embassies. 4. Appoint an advisor, if desired Minister of Justice/Head of Supreme Court (MoJ): 1. Audit region for Civil Rights (CR), Political Freedoms (PF), and National Categories (NC) compliance 2. Make recommendations to P/WAD for nations to eject, if any --I would like to eject as few nations as possible until Charter Amendment #39 is completed, but report all of the violators anyway. --Last term, Ratateague and I would give extensions to improving nations in order to prevent ejections of nations that are trying to improve. Minister of Immigration/Regional Promotion (MIRP): 2. Try to find more info about the NS Cultural Expo Minister of Domestic Affairs (MDA): 1. Come up with new debate ideas. 2. Try to come up with a new contest or game, although we already have a lot at the moment. 3. Update all the information in the NS Wiki. --There should not be too much to change. Mainly population and a few other minor details. 4. Update all the information in the DSA Capitol 5. Appoint an advisor, if desired Minister of Cartography (MoC): (or interim MoC) 1. Verify all nations on map are: --Existing --Reside in the region (domestic puppets okay, too) 2. Add nations from map opt-in subforum who request placement on map 3. Essentially just keep the map current and updated Edited by Haltari, 26 Sep 2013, 04:07.

I've been thinking for the past couple of weeks. I am planning on making some policy changes in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding it's Ambassadors. 1. I will ask that all Ambassadors report to me weekly about the region they are Ambassador to. I have not yet decided if I will do this through telegram, or if I will set up a section of the forums for it. 2. I want to implement a policy in which an Ambassador who let's their puppet cease to exist, shall be removed from their position. In my view, it is not acceptable for an Ambassador to not log in to their puppet for that amount of time. Also, I know we would like as many people involved in the government as possible, but I believe Grobladonia should absolutely keep their position as Ambassador to the CIL. He has done such a great job, especially in the past week, that removing him would be disservice to both regions. As for our embassies and potential embassies: The CIL has voted to keep their embassy with the DSA open, but TI has now put their embassy with the CIL to a vote. Babies... The UPFS has welcomed Free World Alliance warmly as their Ambassador, And the SLU is still waiting for us to appoint an Ambassador to their region (this can be done now that elections are over). Kandorith and Ratateague both have applied, but Kandorith applied first by far, so I think I should choose him. The UDLS has begun voting on their treaty with us and Azerzia has informed me that an embassy could be opened before the end of the week. Also, Liossalde has been waiting for the position of Ambassador to the UDLS, so he will get it. No one from the International Democratic Union has answered my telegrams, and I do not know how to proceed. They look very promising as a region and I believe we would benefit very much from having an embassy with them. Here's to another great term for all those elected! |

First of all, greetings to all the colleagues of the Seventh Cabinet! Now on to business. I think point 3 under the MFA's to-do list is really important, and the events of late have underscored the importance of having a strong network of friendly regions. It's always good to have some friends at your back when you're contending with the less rational regions of the world. As for my Ministry, I'll be looking over our current membership later this week (probably to be done this weekend) and putting together a consistent procedure for the region to follow that minimizes ejections, likely using my flowchart from a while back as a starting point. Obviously I'm coming to this new job from the MIRP's perspective of "maximize numbers," but now I get to see the other side of the coin: uphold standards! Fortunately, I've got a great colleague in the Saint James Islands to keep the nations coming in. What I'd really like the major theme of my Ministry to be, though, is working on a leftist interregional system of justice. What form this will take is still up for much debate, but I think that this Ministry offers some terrific and unique opportunities for interregional cooperation. I've always thought that an interregional court could be one of the crown jewels of an interregional leftist organization, and since that is something that's on the table anyway, I'm going to make it my particular contribution to work on that aspect of cooperation. As always, I'm very open to everyone's thoughts! Good luck to all members of the new Cabinet. |

Just as a general comment, I will be pushing for as much participation as possible with the current charter revision just to be able to finish it within the next two weeks. @Terlibe The ambassador reporting sounds like a good idea, and it will definitely prevent the ambassadorial nations from CTE. Also, removing an ambassador like that also makes sense. I would add both of those to the charter revision. Regarding the International Democratic Union, I'll send a telegram to the WAD, and I'll see if that works. Lastly, I'm adding one last thing to your list. I would like you to telegram all of our embassy regions and the UDLS about starting a NS forum discussion on creating a leftist alliance. I feel as if this will be more effectively done if it is not only discussed on one forum alone. @Gervase I really like the flowchart idea because it means that I have to eject a lot less nations. I am not exactly sure if you will be able to implement that entirely with the current charter, but I would continue the discussion on that in the charter revision. Also, is the Saint James Islands running to auto-recruitment yet or not? If not, it would be better to make the transition as quick as possible. Regarding the interregional justice system, a good place to start would be with a leftist alliance treaty, which I am setting up right now with Terlibe. |

@Haltari: Great about the leftist alliance treaty. This is a great opportunity for inter-ministerial cooperation. As for the auto-recruit tool, TSJI has it covered. I don't know if everything in the flowchart will be possible with the current charter (I'll check), but it's certainly something to think about as we revise it. @Terlibe: I agree about keeping Grobladonia on. I think the situation calls for stability. As far as new embassies go, have you looked into the Versutian Federation or The Cooperative Union? I notice that TI closed their embassy with UCR as well, which creates an opportunity for us. Edited by Gervase, 28 Aug 2013, 05:50.

@Gervase Regarding the The Cooperative Union, 30.4% of their nations are in our prohibited categories and that does not pass our 25% limit for embassy requirements. With the Versutian Federation, there is the same problem, although there percentage is a bit smaller at 27%. Lastly, with the UCR, there is once again the same problem, and their percentage is at 30.6%. Just as a contrast, our percentage is currently at only 4%.

I actually did bring the idea of opening an embassy with the Versutian Federation to Haltari, but he reminded me that it violates our requirements. However, please continue to give me ideas if you find new regions we may be compatible with. I'll be on the look out as well. That is something else I really want to get done. We definitely need more embassies to widen our sphere of influence. |

I have sent the following telegram to the Foreign Ministers of the regions you requested: "Greeting fellow Foreign Ministers and Secretaries! I am contacting you to see if you are interested in participating in an NS Forum discussion on creating a leftist interregional alliance which would be made up of five regions. These regions include the Social Liberal Union, the Communist International League, the United Peoples Front for Socialism, the Union of Democratic Leftist States, and the Democratic Socialist Assembly. Something of the like has been proposed by The Confederated Kingdoms of Azerzia (President of the Union of Democratic Leftist States) on the DSA forums. The Constitutional Monarchy of Haltari, President of the Democratic Socialist Assembly, suggested that we have an interregional discussion on the NS forums, rather than discussing it on one region's forum as we have been doing. We feel this will make an easier, quicker, and more efficient way to create and develop an alliance. An interregional alliance will make us all closer as a group, give us more influence, and make our voices stronger. Please let me know if you are interested. The Democratic States of Terlibe Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Socialist Assembly" Let me know what you think. Also, I apologize that I have not gotten to the recent embassy proposals. I have been very busy with the whole CIL-TI incident, as you know. I will get to those as soon as possible. |
