Greetings, comrades of the Sixth Cabinet of the DSA! Congratulations on being elected or reelected to your respective Cabinet positions and I look forward to working with all of you in this new cabinet. Just like with the 5th Cabinet, there will be new meeting every 2 weeks or so from this point forward. The issues below are what the cabinet will be deliberating on, and like in previous cabinets, these recommendations are simply what I would like the 6th Cabinet to discuss as its shared agenda. All of you are free to provide any feedback, ideas, or additional issues that you believe should be discussed by our cabinet. For all new cabinet members, this meeting is designed to be a discussion of our region's issues as a whole and the various initiatives concerning each individual Cabinet member. Therefore, I recommend that all of you participate in this meeting at least once per meeting in order to keep the entire Cabinet informed of your various tasks, duties, and concerns. Each meeting, you will receive a small list of recommendations for your ministry to address, but you do not need to discuss all of your recommendations at once, as long as you get to each of them eventually. And with this statement, I officially open the 1st Cabinet Meeting of the 6th Cabinet. 1. Complete commendation for Grolsch This has already been written and submitted, and I am hoping we will be able to get this finished and voted on in the next congressional vote. 2. Prepared ministerial statements workshop (ongoing project) Now that the auto-telegram system is being implemented, it would be good to look at creating a more standard set of telegrams and statements to be sent out automatically. This was proposed by Grobladonia in the last cabinet, and since both Terlibe and I have been very active, this has not been necessary. However, I think that we could still discuss this further. If you would like to look at what we already discussed about this, look at the 3 meetings for the 5th Cabinet. Currently being discussed on the charter revision. This is currently in progress, so I encourage everyone to take part. 5. Review jobs offered in the 'Help Wanted' subforum (if you want an assistant for your ministry, post the job in the subforum) Windport posted one article in the newspaper during the elections, but I would like if articles were still much more frequent. We could also potentially create some kind of chief editor position to manage and encourage greater involvement in the newspaper. This can be solved in the charter revision if necessary This was an issue that appeared during the election, and I created the "Congressional Elections and Votes" section in the Election and Votes sub forum in order to test out the possibility of doing a anonymous poll. The only problem is that this kind of anonymous system would make preferential voting very difficult, but there are ways around that. I have begun talking about this in the charter revision, so this issue will soon be solved. 8. Proposed embassy (and colonization) by Stonehaven 9. Inactivity on the forums, and a relative lack of new, lasting members. 10. NS Cultural Expo ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items for individual ministries to address: Secretary General (SG): 1. Try contacting Suceavija about the Charter Revision, and if possible, establish a date to begin its scrutiny. 2. Finish creating the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section in 'Introduction' forum, edit 'About the Democratic Socialist Assembly' to include link to FAQ's. --Contact Terlibe and United Republic of People for more information on these 3. Make sure everything is updated (Amendments, Charter nations, etc.) 4. Appoint an advisor, if desired --United Republic People was Terlibe's advisor so I suggest contacting him. Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA): 1. Make embassy recommendations to P/WAD 2. Prepare interregional intelligence report for CAB --Interregional partners/allies --Interregional adversaries --Other regions of interest, if any 3. Keep track of the progress that UDLS is making towards 20 members so that we can establish an embassy 4. Find out the situation with all of our ambassadors and embassies, and contact Herrebrugh to familiarize yourself with the positions 5. Appoint an advisor, if desired Minister of Justice/Head of Supreme Court (MoJ): 1. Audit region for Civil Rights (CR), Political Freedoms (PF), and National Categories (NC) compliance 2. Make recommendations to P/WAD for nations to eject, if any --Like I stated before, I would like to eject as few nations as possible until Charter Amendment #39 is completed, but report all of the violators anyway. Minister of Immigration/Regional Promotion (MIRP): 1. Try to add filters/improve the API as much as you can 2. Verify if/when interregional leftist fair is being held --I am just going to keep this in here for you to remember to notify the cabinet about any of these kinds of events if they show up Minister of Domestic Affairs (MDA): 1. Continue coming up with new debate ideas. 2. Try to come up with a new contest or game 3. Update all of the information in the NS Wiki. --There should not be too much to change. Mainly population and a few other minor details. --Also elaborate on the timeline that Grobladonia started 4. Read over Grobladonia's suggestions and contact him to familiarize yourself with the position. 5. Appoint an advisor, if desired Minister of Cartography (MoC): 1. Verify all nations on map are: --Existing --Reside in the region (domestic puppets okay, too) 2. Add nations from map opt-in subforum who request placement on map 3. Essentially just keep the map current and updated 4. Contact New Andureo to familiarize yourself with the position. Edited by Haltari, 15 Jul 2013, 08:20.

1. In re IRALL: We think the DSA had come to a collective realisation that we may not have a purpose to it. There's a tabled proposal to establish a common forum, but not much has been made of it in the past few days. 2. In re Stonehaven: We're there right now with my Fishing Boat Proceeds (on a personal capacity, We'll leave the formal representing the DSA up to Terlibe). - The WAD has ejected two residents just today and a least four on the 4th, so the region is shrinking at a faster pace than nations are ceasing to exist. - Only three posts have been made on the RMB since we arrived in Stonehaven. The first of them was to welcome Terlibe and the second was Terlibe announcing their temporary departure. And it took about 30 hours for someone else to post a message, which was us trying to start a conversation. - Two members have expressed their support for diplomatic relations out of (now) five natives, so we'd imagine that there is some general support for embassies and concern about the activity level. - We're concerned about the wording of the tg to be honest. And here's a post that the WAD lodged on the Stonehaven RMB if you haven't seen it (it's somewhat similar to the tg they sent Haltari): We've never thought of the DSA as a colonising region either, and we've always detested raiders who try to destroy another region's community. We think in approaching Stonehaven, our goal should be to give them advice on how to rebuild and maintain a strong and active community. The DSA has had its successes and failures in the past, and we do believe that we can be of help to them. 3. In re the forum: Are we not making the forum attractive enough to new nations? When we get the Charter revision done and we have a dedicated Role Play Ministry, TSJI might be able to start promoting some action in a dedicated RP section here. Since there are a lot of nations out there that would like to RP and the map project is really the only RP element we have going right now, organising a new RP section may help boost traffic to our forum which could get more nations involved in Congressional discussions as well. (We can dream, can't we? )4. In re Back-up SG: We think, since we're revising the Charter, now may be a great time to bring up general discussion of a back-up SG. It'll be easier to incorporate the idea now than later, and we'd like to see the general opinion of the Congress on that idea. |

I certainly agree with the point about RP in the forum. It really seems like the best way to get people involved is to give them a goal, so that would be an excellent solution. |

1. I was also starting to think the same thing. From what it seems so far, very few of the other regions have really shown too much interest in any alliance, possibly due to inactivity. I still think that we should revisit the idea after the charter is revised. 2. I agree that they do seem to be generally interested in diplomatic relations. I'll send a tg today to the WAD telling him about the situation. I think that once we help them gain some new members, an embassy can be established and there will be no need for any kind of colonization. 3. The roleplaying should definitely help with increasing activity. I was also thinking of maybe sending out mass telegrams more regularly. 4. Alright. You can suggest that on the google doc somewhere. I can't add anything like that right now because I'm in a hotel with a fairly slow internet connection. |

It's nice to know that the RP suggestion was actually taken kind of seriously. Makes us really happy right now.Haltari, we think sending out mass tgs every once in a while is a good idea. Speaking from experience, when we started here not terribly long ago, the RMB and forum seemed like giant bottomless pits of confusion. We couldn't really get into the action myself because we hadn't any idea what to do or talk about and we hadn't broken out of our shell yet. It takes a while to get used to it and get into the action yourself, and we should probably encourage young, shy nations in that regard. If they have some clue as to what's going on, we might get some active members who wouldn't have been so otherwise. Odd and ends: We've also got the map updated. We'll admit that we've kind of been caught up in the NS forum (especially F7) lately... We're currently reading up on the meetings of the last Cabinet to get myself acquainted with the discussions about a back-up SG, so we'll post about it on the Google Doc later. |

I think the role play section is a great idea. It would certainly help our forum's activity, especially amongst new nations. Regarding Stonehaven: I agree with both Haltari and The Saint James Islands that colonizing Stonehaven would not be a good idea. As said above I am optimistic that we can help make there region more active. |

After the Charter Revision is taken care of, I think that I might have the time to reorganize and simplify the forum for some of the new members. Also, I think that for the mass telegrams, I will also encourage the new nations to participate in the various games and debates by also sending those links as well. Once the RP section comes around, I will also send that link too. Hopefully, these tgs actually make a difference. |

Maybe The Scientific States could include the games and their links in the Scientific Times. Maybe if the new nations see that we have some games on the forum, it will encourage them to take a look. |

That's a good idea Terlibe. I did at one point, but some people were concerned that it was spam to post it every issue. I think I'll try updating a list of games in the forum, starting with tonight's issue. |

I have given the members of Stonehaven some tips on recruitment. Hopefully they will be used to grow that region and make it more active. We can only hope. |
