Greetings, comrades of the Sixth Cabinet of the DSA! Congratulations on being elected or reelected to your respective Cabinet positions and I look forward to working with all of you in this new cabinet. Just like with the 5th Cabinet, there will be new meeting every 2 weeks or so from this point forward. The issues below are what the cabinet will be deliberating on, and like in previous cabinets, these recommendations are simply what I would like the 6th Cabinet to discuss as its shared agenda. All of you are free to provide any feedback, ideas, or additional issues that you believe should be discussed by our cabinet. For all new cabinet members, this meeting is designed to be a discussion of our region's issues as a whole and the various initiatives concerning each individual Cabinet member. Therefore, I recommend that all of you participate in this meeting at least once per meeting in order to keep the entire Cabinet informed of your various tasks, duties, and concerns. Each meeting, you will receive a small list of recommendations for your ministry to address, but you do not need to discuss all of your recommendations at once, as long as you get to each of them eventually. And with this statement, I officially open the 1st Cabinet Meeting of the 6th Cabinet. 1. Complete commendation for Grolsch This has already been written and submitted, and I am hoping we will be able to get this finished and voted on in the next congressional vote. 2. Prepared ministerial statements workshop (ongoing project) Now that the auto-telegram system is being implemented, it would be good to look at creating a more standard set of telegrams and statements to be sent out automatically. This was proposed by Grobladonia in the last cabinet, and since both Terlibe and I have been very active, this has not been necessary. However, I think that we could still discuss this further. If you would like to look at what we already discussed about this, look at the 3 meetings for the 5th Cabinet. Currently being discussed on the charter revision. This is currently in progress, so I encourage everyone to take part. 5. Review jobs offered in the 'Help Wanted' subforum (if you want an assistant for your ministry, post the job in the subforum) Windport posted one article in the newspaper during the elections, but I would like if articles were still much more frequent. We could also potentially create some kind of chief editor position to manage and encourage greater involvement in the newspaper. This can be solved in the charter revision if necessary This was an issue that appeared during the election, and I created the "Congressional Elections and Votes" section in the Election and Votes sub forum in order to test out the possibility of doing a anonymous poll. The only problem is that this kind of anonymous system would make preferential voting very difficult, but there are ways around that. I have begun talking about this in the charter revision, so this issue will soon be solved. 8. Proposed embassy (and colonization) by Stonehaven 9. Inactivity on the forums, and a relative lack of new, lasting members. 10. NS Cultural Expo ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items for individual ministries to address: Secretary General (SG): 1. Try contacting Suceavija about the Charter Revision, and if possible, establish a date to begin its scrutiny. 2. Finish creating the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section in 'Introduction' forum, edit 'About the Democratic Socialist Assembly' to include link to FAQ's. --Contact Terlibe and United Republic of People for more information on these 3. Make sure everything is updated (Amendments, Charter nations, etc.) 4. Appoint an advisor, if desired --United Republic People was Terlibe's advisor so I suggest contacting him. Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA): 1. Make embassy recommendations to P/WAD 2. Prepare interregional intelligence report for CAB --Interregional partners/allies --Interregional adversaries --Other regions of interest, if any 3. Keep track of the progress that UDLS is making towards 20 members so that we can establish an embassy 4. Find out the situation with all of our ambassadors and embassies, and contact Herrebrugh to familiarize yourself with the positions 5. Appoint an advisor, if desired Minister of Justice/Head of Supreme Court (MoJ): 1. Audit region for Civil Rights (CR), Political Freedoms (PF), and National Categories (NC) compliance 2. Make recommendations to P/WAD for nations to eject, if any --Like I stated before, I would like to eject as few nations as possible until Charter Amendment #39 is completed, but report all of the violators anyway. Minister of Immigration/Regional Promotion (MIRP): 1. Try to add filters/improve the API as much as you can 2. Verify if/when interregional leftist fair is being held --I am just going to keep this in here for you to remember to notify the cabinet about any of these kinds of events if they show up Minister of Domestic Affairs (MDA): 1. Continue coming up with new debate ideas. 2. Try to come up with a new contest or game 3. Update all of the information in the NS Wiki. --There should not be too much to change. Mainly population and a few other minor details. --Also elaborate on the timeline that Grobladonia started 4. Read over Grobladonia's suggestions and contact him to familiarize yourself with the position. 5. Appoint an advisor, if desired Minister of Cartography (MoC): 1. Verify all nations on map are: --Existing --Reside in the region (domestic puppets okay, too) 2. Add nations from map opt-in subforum who request placement on map 3. Essentially just keep the map current and updated 4. Contact New Andureo to familiarize yourself with the position. Edited by Haltari, 15 Jul 2013, 08:20.

I contacted Suceavija via telegram re: the Charter Amendment. In the event that I do not hear back from them in a timely manner (by Monday evening GST) I am going to try to shepherd that amendment myself. I agree with the representative from Haltari that the amendment has very important points and I am willing to take it over if I have to to make sure that it get a vote. @Gullud 1. The revision is definitely very important, and I think that someone else should probably take it over. Suceavija has now been inactive for over a week, and he still hasn't responded to the at least 4 telegrams that I sent him in the past few weeks. The last thing I heard from him was in May, and back then he said he had some RL problems, and that he would have the revision finished by June 1st. However, I think we still think that we should wait a bit longer before giving it to either you, me, or anyone else. 2. At the moment, there are some FAQs, but it can still be expanded. I'll put the link to the current FAQs below. United Republic of People came up with some earlier, so Inthink you should contact him just to develop a basic idea for the questions. FAQ: http://s1.zetaboards.com/DemocraticSocialist/faq 3. For the charter nations, there shouldn't be too much to do. Mainly just make sure all of the nations still exist and abide by the charter. Also, throughout your term check the charter opt-in to add all of the new nations. To review all of the nations, I usually use the nstracker and nsdossier. Some features on the tracker haven't been working recently. NStracker:http://www.nstracker.net/ NSdossier:http://nsdossier.texasregion.net/ |

This is an idea that's been on my list for a long time, and now that we have a fresh Cabinet it seems like a good time to float it: We should assess the tags that our region is using to make sure we're using the best ones we can. A lot of nations, particularly the pickier (and thus higher-quality) ones use tags to browse regions to find one that's right for them. Currently, our tags are: Democratic Map NSWiki Offsite Forums Regional Government Socialist We're also Featured and Enormous, but we can't change those. I've gone through the list of all tags and picked out all the ones that we might even possibly consider adding: Anarchist Anti-Capitalist Anti-Fascist Eco-friendly Independent Liberal Social Out of these, Social and Liberal seem like particularly strong contenders. We have an active community, so Social seems to fit with those who want some camaraderie out of the game, and Liberal describes most of our nations' values quite well. Independent is pretty self-explanatory. Eco-friendly is definitely an edge case, but I included it as a "maybe." Anarchist, Anti-Capitalist, and Anti-Fascist all carry a little more heft. We're really getting into defining regional ideology with these, though I wouldn't at all be opposed to the Anti-Fascist tag. It might be an interesting idea to put this list up to a vote of Congress and let the people decide. |

I would definitely add Social and Liberal, and potentially Independent, Eco-Friendly, and Anti-Fascist. However, I wouldn't add Anti-Capitalist and Anarchist because there are some nations that identify both with socialism and capitalism. I wouldn't include anarchism because many nations in the DSA don't believe in it, and I personally believe anarchism does not work at all. |

NStracker is having a huge problem with searching for regions. It looks like it is working for individual nations but not the regions. |

@Gervase: On tags, we don't think the DSA should quite get into ideologies that only some of our nations possess (though the DSA permits). We wouldn't call The Saint James Islands anarchic or anti-capitalist. Eco-friendly is a bit of a stretch, but we feel fine with the rest. We would definitely add Social and Liberal (as we don't think anyone will object to those) and leave the rest up to a vote of Congress like you said. And good work on the auto-telegram system. The only thing we could do better on is the conversion rate, but we think that is a symptom of larger reach. On the Ministry of Cartography and the Capitol: We've got the map fully updated: everyone's requests have been handled and everyone on the map is in the region. But, our concern is getting the map posted on the Factbook for the Capitol. We've been sending updated copies to The Scientific States, but only because they're the MDA. Has the Cabinet assigned a caretaker for the Capitol yet? |

I agree with Haltari. Personally, I am not anarchist or anti-capitalist, and many of our members aren't, so I don't feel those tags accurately represent us as a region. As for the "Anti-fascist" tag, I am against that as well. Of course most, if not all of us are not fascists, and don't condone fascism. But this region praises itself on being passive. In my view, the "Anti-fascist" tag makes us seem like we actively oppose and fight against fascism, which we don't do. Okay, now for a Foreign Affairs update: Fyrossarian has been appointed as Ambassador to the Social Liberal Union, and just recently, Liossalde has been appointed as Ambassador to his former region, the Communist International League. If Haltari or Gullud could officially make him an Ambassador on the forum so he could access the Close Doors Section of the Ministry of Foreign affairs, I'd be much obliged. There is now only one ambassador job opening; Ambassador to the United Social Democrats. Once that is filled, I will me sending the Ambassador puppets to their respective regions. As for the Union of Democratic Leftist States, I am monitoring their growing member ship with my puppet, Liberarum, which resides there permanently. Also, I am going to create a topic in the new "Ambassadors of the DSA" sub-forum for each of our Ambassadors so they can all have their own 'office,' so to speak. Regarding the tags, I agree that we should add Social and Liberal because those should apply to everyone in our region. The others I think we can leave out. Also, recently, Tawkania sent me a telegram of the article that he surveyed everyone in the DSA and TI for. He finished the entire thing, and I think that it is very neutral and well-written. However, I feel as if the article is really no longer relevant because we haven't had any contact with TI for months, and I also fear that this might cause another conflict if it is published simply because it reveals some opinions that might potentially offend some members in TI. What are your thoughts on this? Thirdly, I am also getting a bit concerned with The United Social Democrats. They have been very inactive for the past 10-12 days, and the founder, The islands of equality, has not logged in in 22 days, so I think he will CTE. If this inactivity continues and the founder CTEs, I think we might have to close our embassy with them. @The Saint James Islands The caretaker to the capitol should be The Scientific States, so I would keep trying to contact him. Also, I would prefer that you send the link to the map every time you edit it, so I can put it on the WFE. This would work better for me because then I don't have to try to figure out which map is the most recent one, and potentially put the wrong one up. @Gullud The tracker has been having problems and that's why I prefer the dossier. The NS tracker can be useful for other statistics though. Edited by Haltari, 20 Jun 2013, 11:08.
