Greetings Members of the 5th Cabinet, The cabinet discussion has fallen silent recently, and I hope that this slightly delayed 3rd cabinet meeting will open up some more cabinet discussion. The last cabinet meeting has been largely concerned with referendums and votes, so I would like to move on from that for now to focus on other issues. However, everyone should continue to come up with ideas for Amendment #39, and if you have any votes and amendments to propose, feel free to do so. Items for the entire Cabinet to address: 1. Peace Treaty with The Internationale The possibility of restarting these talks is returning, and I would like there to be significant discussion over the future of these talks. I have been communicating with some of you about the treaty via telegram, so feel free to share those ideas in the Internationale forum discussion. 2. Complete commendation for Grolsch I would like this taken care of soon because nothing has been done with this for 3 months. We need to decide who will be writing this commendation. 3. Prepared ministerial statements workshop (ongoing project) Now that the auto-telegram system is being implemented, it would be good to look at creating a more standard set of telegrams and statements to be sent out automatically. 4. Proposed back up Secretary-General and President in the case of inactivity (Grobladonia) 5. PF and CR requirements amendment (Currently Being written by Suceavija) There definitely needs to be more discussion over this. 6. Review jobs offered in the 'Help Wanted' subforum (if you want an assistant for your ministry, post the job in the subforum) Try to apply this constructive criticism to your cabinet position. 8. Discuss the possible implementation of the API telegram system This could actually be a good recruitment technique if we could somehow create a CR and PF filter. 8. Revitalization of the Newspaper The newspaper has been very silent for a long time except for Terlibe's article a few days ago. I would like more articles to be written for newspaper just to use it more often. This is not really a priority at the moment, but I just want Solidarity to be used more often. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items for individual ministries to address: Secretary General (SG): 1. Determine if appropriate to declassify previous closed-door Cabinet meeting notes --It would be better to hold off on releasing these until TI treaty is either abandoned or completed. 2. Create Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section in 'Introduction' forum, edit 'About the Democratic Socialist Assembly' to include link to FAQ's. --I am currently working on a few of these, and you can come up with your own ideas to add. This can be discussed through telegram. 3. Make sure everything is updated (Amendments, Charter nations, etc.) 4. Actively participate in the discussion over the future of the Internationale treaty. Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA): 1. Make embassy recommendations to P/WAD --Secular Alliance 2. Prepare interregional intelligence report for CAB --Interregional partners/allies --Interregional adversaries --Other regions of interest, if any 3. Actively participate in the discussion over the future of the Internationale treaty. Minister of Justice/Head of Supreme Court (MoJ): 1. Audit region for Civil Rights (CR), Political Freedoms (PF), and National Categories (NC) compliance 2. Make recommendations to P/WAD for nations to eject, if any --Like I stated before, I would like to eject as few nations as possible until Charter Amendment #39 is completed, but report all of the violators anyway. Minister of Immigration/Regional Promotion (MIRP): 1. Try to add filters/improve the API as much as you can 2. Verify if/when interregional leftist fair is being held 3. Look into the possibility of creating an auto-message for welcoming telegrams-->discuss with Grobladonia --The only problem I can think of with this is that nations that just briefly left will be welcomed all over again, which may seem strange. Minister of Domestic Affairs (MDA): 1. Continue coming up with new debate ideas. 2. Look into the possibility of creating an auto-message for welcoming telegrams-->discuss with Gervase --The only problem I can think of with this is that nations that just briefly left will be welcomed all over again, which may seem strange. 3. Possibly start nominations for a new contest. 4. Update all of the information in the NS Wiki. --There should not be too much to change. Mainly population and a few other minor details. Minister of Cartography (MoC): 1. Verify all nations on map are: --Existing --Reside in the region (domestic puppets okay, too) 2. Add nations from map opt-in subforum who request placement on map 3. Essentially just keep the map current and updated Edited by Haltari, 23 May 2013, 04:17.

Or in the same topic, it doesn't matter, what I mean is that we need feedback from the Congress. |

One question: should the XCF file be available to the public or should it be restricted to the MoC? |

Regarding the MDAs Items: 1. I was thinking of starting that discussion about the Second Exodus. I'd really like to add that to the history of our region since I think it is an important event. Also, it might help those that came during the Second Exodus to start becoming more active. I'll probably wait a few more days before starting that discussion. 2. I'm not sure if an auto-message system would be a good idea. The first problem would be that visitors would get spammed, the second would be that i don't have a computer that I can keep that running on. On the other hand, with the sudden spike in new members there is a good chance of missing some people. I propose a different solution. Over in the SLU the have greeters for different time intervals. I could take one 12hour interval and another person would take the other. How does that sound? 3. Currently I'm out of contests :(. Just before I went to the hospital I was thinking of starting a topic for people to propose new contests. I don't want to do a repeat contest at this point. 4. The Wiki is not editable at the moment. It's been like that ever since it came back online and I'm not sure what the reason is. This is the text I get whenever I try to edit something:
On the Cabinet Items: 2. I recommend you assign someone to write the Commendation rather than wait for volunteers. It just hasn't worked so far. 4. I'll post our discussion we had in the last cabinet meeting on this topic in the Amendment #39 thread and wait to see Suceavija's initial draft. 6. Just before the elections I proposed an idea that the P/WAD should have an assistant to handle WA affairs. I think you should look into it. You could ask Gullud if she would be interested since, from the analysis she made of two current resolutions, I think she could handle it well, provided she has the time. That's all for now from me. |

@Grobladonia I like the idea, but in that case, I think we would have to assign more greeters than just the MDA and MIRP. We would have to create some kind of welcoming group that would serve under the MDA. As for the contests we have not yet done Biggest Hippie and the Defender of the DSA. I actually don't know who is the admin for that page because I can't even create an account because my IP address cannot be identified, so I can't help you with that. For the Grolsch commendation, I'll just send out a region-wide telegram, and I'll see if anyone wants to do it. If not, I can easily write it. Ok. I'll also look into creating an assistant for my position, but at the moment, I am not having any real problems with all of the WA telegrams. @New Andureo I think the file should be exclusive to the MoC. |

Okay, here's some feedback about the new recruitment tool: 1. There is no way I can hope to keep up with the greetings at the rate new members are coming in. Just in the past eight hours 11 new members arrived of which only six still showed up in the Regional Happenings. A team of greeters is needed or an automated greeting tool. I could begin putting together a team of greeters but I don't have the technical skills to make a greeting app. 2. This quantity based approach, while it is indeed bringing in a lot of new members, many aren't up to our standards. In the past 24 hours 5 of the new nations had problems, usually being in a prohibited category. Those are just the ones I managed to spot and as far as I can tell they are still in the DSA. While the app is no doubt useful, without some sort of filtering it will just worsen our ejection problem. Personally, I recommend we return to the old recruiting method until we can sort out both problems. With a filtering system added it would be an invaluable tool, but as it is it's just causing problems the longer it runns. About contests: Defender of the DSA was a badge meant for those who helped defend the region against raiders, not a contest. Biggest Hippie I'm not sure how to define. To be hones Biggest Commie and Biggest Hippie were meant to be ironic, but I managed to turn Biggest Commie into something serious. |

@Gorbladonia I think one good method would be to activate the auto-telegram system for a few days, and then to stop it for a week. This would allow us to properly greet all of the new nations from those few days, and they will be properly informed of the region's requirements. Ratateague and I are trying to inform all of the new nations of our requirements, but I agree that it is difficult to handle this many new nations. When I created the award for "Defender of the DSA" a while back I intended it to be an award to someone who defends or upholds the DSA's core values. I don't know what Suceavija meant when he first suggested it, but I don't think it was defender of the DSA against raiders because we were never raided by anyone. |

Suceavija defined it like this here. To be honest it would probably be confusing to do this contest since some might think its about defending regions. There seems to have been a separate award like what you were thinking, but a badge was never made for it. |
