Greetings to you, my fellow comrades of the Fourth Cabinet of the DSA! I congratulate you all for being elected/reelected to your Cabinet positions and I eagerly look forward to working with all of you this term. Below are my recommendations and wishes for what I would like this Cabinet to approve and commit to as its shared agenda. I invite each of you to provide any feedback and to also provide any additional ideas or initiatives that you would like us to pursue over the term. For those who are new, I aim to conduct closed Cabinet meetings each week that generally begin and end each Sunday; and so I ask that each of you check in to these meetings at least once per week to update everyone on the status of your respective Ministries. Your input need not be more than a sentence or two as there are always times where not a lot is going on; though I ask that each of you at least provide that much for the rest of your fellow Cabinet members. I will typically have a small list of Items for each ministry to address each meeting; so you will know what I am looking for in terms of your input. Without further ado, here is my agenda for this term: 1)Regional Tags: Each term, I like to get the cabinet’s opinion about the tags we assign to our region. Currently, we have the tags: Map Democratic, Enormous Socialist Offsite Forums NSwiki Regional Government I would like to get each Minister’s opinion as to whether you would like to add, remove or keep the same tags for this term. Here is the link to the NS tag cloud: http://www.nationstates.net/page=list_regions Tags that have been proposed recently: “Liberal” “Eco-Friendly” ”Artistic” & “Creative” 2) Formal documents and prepared statements: A: Ministry of Foreign Affairs -Chain of command: MFA & President shall determine an official position, the MFA shall then work with the Ambassadors to communicate clear, uniformed and formal message to our interregional partners. Post prepared statements and do not personally comment or respond to reactions to statements unless they are made by officials from that region. Otherwise, get permission from or at least coordinate a response with the MFA to -When/when not to issue statements from the Min of Foreign Affairs - stay on message -No personal statements from Ambassadors while working on behalf of the MFA or the DSA during interregional conflicts B: Secretary General -Create telegram format for various functions such as establishing elections, notifications, calendar notices -Congressional roster C: Ministry of Domestic Affairs -Prepare formal greetings for new nations for the RMB and a personal welcoming messages to be sent by the MFA to each new nation as well. -Birthday greetings when birthdays are listed on the calendar -Contest declarations, congratulatory messages, etc. 3) Review of Charter -Each minister shall review their job descriptions in the Charter and determine if it is clear to them what is expected of them or if clarification or footnotes to other sections would be more helpful or clear -Determine if there are any amendments you would like to make to the Charter at this time. 4) Other concerns, suggestions or ideas from you 5) UCR Conference: http://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=223199 What do we all think of this? Although I must say, their General Secretary, Skoalstraightius, seems to be very nice person who would fit in very well here. I'm not suggesting offering hima spot here, but I think you guys would like him. |

@ Terlibe: I didn't have time to investigate the UPFS embassy issue thoroughly during the time everything was all crazy; so your recollection will be better than mine. I guess just ask the Delegate or their MFA whether they wish to continue relations or not. Frame the question around the fact that there is little to no interregional dialogue taking place, not the embassy request with CMK. I can forgive that one because every region is entitled to their own foreign policy/embassy criteria (I don't want foreign regions telling us who we can/can't engage with diplomatically; so I won't hold the UPFS to a double standard). Plus, they supported us when it really mattered; so I don't want to antagonize or punish them essentially for acting in our best interests and responding to a request for diplomatic assistance when we asked for it. Where we could legitimately sever relations is if they just don't have a foreign policy in place that actively engages its allies. Then we can just claim that administrative burdens on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs require us to suspend relations with regions we don't have regular communication with; that way it's not made personal and no one gets hurt feelings. |

I don't know if anyone what I posted here on February 3rd, but I'm still waiting for an answer to this question: After reviewing the charter, I have found that there are a few clauses that are different from what is actually being done in regards to my position. For example, officially, it says that the Minister of Immigration and Regional Promotion is supposed to greet and welcome each nation, which I did at the beginning of my first term until realizing that other ministers were doing the same thing. Also, in this cabinet meeting, it says that the Minister of Domestic Affairs is charged with creating a welcoming message to be sent out by the MFA. So, just for clarification, is it my job to welcome nations or the MFA's? |

@ Haltari: I think it can be decided between you and the MDA & MFA. I think it's fine if the MDA handles welcoming committee stuff since the MIRP is doing the work of bringing the new Comrades here. Personally, I'd rather the MIRP focus on recruitment efforts rather than those + domestic morale boosting. The MDA is basically in charge of morale boosting and any other things dealing with domestic issues; so I'd be comfortable voting for an amendment that split the welcoming note duty from the description of the MFA & MIRP. I was encouraging everyone in the Cabinet to greet nations on the RMB as time allowed so that newcomers would get showered with welcomes and feel more at home; this was not formally written into the Charter though (just one of my own policy initiatives). This hasn't quite panned out the way I was hoping; but I think the majority of newcomers receive RMB welcoming messages at least. Please correct me if I'm wrong in my perception of this - I don't want to discount the value of any work that is being done behind the scenes just because I don't see it. I think on the whole the Cabinet does a good job with its respective roles. |

Nations in the Internationale are suggesting to influence the CIL and the UPFS to cut ties with us of we do not banject Canada. Yes, I was eves dropping on their RMB and I'm not ashamed of it. I highly doubt the UPFS will cut ties with us. I am unsure about the CIL since I really do not know anything about them. Should I contact Wu Wei Shan, or should I wait?

I don't understand why they are generalizing the actions or comments of one nation because they should know that Canada does not reflect the entire DSA. I think that we should not banject Canada because as long as it is not violating the charter requirements in any way, Canada has the right to stay, and I agree that the UPFS will not cut ties with us because they have no reason to do so. Lastly, I honestly do not care if the Internationale is angry with one of our nations, and I think they should just calm down keep to their own regional affairs. |

Wow, I just looked at their RMB, and The Internationale's members want us to banject Canada simply because it voted for the condemnation of a nation called Antifa. The International is full of a bunch of winy b*****s, and excuse the language but I think that was necessary to describe them properly. |
