Greetings to you, my fellow comrades of the Fourth Cabinet of the DSA! I congratulate you all for being elected/reelected to your Cabinet positions and I eagerly look forward to working with all of you this term. Below are my recommendations and wishes for what I would like this Cabinet to approve and commit to as its shared agenda. I invite each of you to provide any feedback and to also provide any additional ideas or initiatives that you would like us to pursue over the term. For those who are new, I aim to conduct closed Cabinet meetings each week that generally begin and end each Sunday; and so I ask that each of you check in to these meetings at least once per week to update everyone on the status of your respective Ministries. Your input need not be more than a sentence or two as there are always times where not a lot is going on; though I ask that each of you at least provide that much for the rest of your fellow Cabinet members. I will typically have a small list of Items for each ministry to address each meeting; so you will know what I am looking for in terms of your input. Without further ado, here is my agenda for this term: 1)Regional Tags: Each term, I like to get the cabinet’s opinion about the tags we assign to our region. Currently, we have the tags: Map Democratic, Enormous Socialist Offsite Forums NSwiki Regional Government I would like to get each Minister’s opinion as to whether you would like to add, remove or keep the same tags for this term. Here is the link to the NS tag cloud: http://www.nationstates.net/page=list_regions Tags that have been proposed recently: “Liberal” “Eco-Friendly” ”Artistic” & “Creative” 2) Formal documents and prepared statements: A: Ministry of Foreign Affairs -Chain of command: MFA & President shall determine an official position, the MFA shall then work with the Ambassadors to communicate clear, uniformed and formal message to our interregional partners. Post prepared statements and do not personally comment or respond to reactions to statements unless they are made by officials from that region. Otherwise, get permission from or at least coordinate a response with the MFA to -When/when not to issue statements from the Min of Foreign Affairs - stay on message -No personal statements from Ambassadors while working on behalf of the MFA or the DSA during interregional conflicts B: Secretary General -Create telegram format for various functions such as establishing elections, notifications, calendar notices -Congressional roster C: Ministry of Domestic Affairs -Prepare formal greetings for new nations for the RMB and a personal welcoming messages to be sent by the MFA to each new nation as well. -Birthday greetings when birthdays are listed on the calendar -Contest declarations, congratulatory messages, etc. 3) Review of Charter -Each minister shall review their job descriptions in the Charter and determine if it is clear to them what is expected of them or if clarification or footnotes to other sections would be more helpful or clear -Determine if there are any amendments you would like to make to the Charter at this time. 4) Other concerns, suggestions or ideas from you 5) UCR Conference: http://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=223199 What do we all think of this? Since this is my first term in any government position, my main goal is to learn the workings. I also plan on getting more people involved in our map, including those who do not play a large role on our region. Also, today I thought of an idea. I suggest that after each term of the Cabinet, a form is created on the forum where member nations can give their input on how the Cabinet did during theor term. I think this could give later Cabinets ideas on what to do during their term, and also give people more of a direct influence on our government. |

After reviewing the charter, I have found that there are a few clauses that are different from what is actually being done in regards to my position. For example, officially, it says that the Minister of Immigration and Regional Promotion is supposed to greet and welcome each nation, which I did at the beginning of my first term until realizing that other ministers were doing the same thing. Also, in this cabinet meeting, it says that the Minister of Domestic Affairs is charged with creating a welcoming message to be sent out by the MFA. So, just for clarification, is it my job to welcome nations or the MFA's? Regarding the UCR Conference, I think that the new telegrams could be beneficial to the message process in some ways, but the telegram limit, price for message stamps, and price for better recruitment TGS could be a problem. I am not willing to pay for my recruiting efforts, and I don't think it is right for Max Barry to try to make a profit off of telegrams, which are the communication basis of Nation States. I also like Terlibe's idea, and we should implement it as soon as possible. |

1) I am against adding the "liberal" tag for earlier mentioned reasons. I support the "eco-friendly" tag, since I think it'd go well with our general set of ideals. I'm more or less indifferent to "artistic" and "creative" tags. 2) I pretty much support all of these. 3) I understand the charter and can't currently think of any suggestions from me. 4) I'd like our ministers' opinions on closing our embassy with the United Peoples Front for Socialism. I have been thinking about this ever since they proposed an embassy with the dsa, which they didn't accept. Nevertheless, I feel they stabbed us in the back doing that, and I don't think there is any use for us continuing our relations with them in the current form. In this issue, I'd also like to voice the opinions of our two Ambassadors: Terlibe; our Ambassador to the UPFS Kryftland; our Ambassador to the SLU and CIL The second matter I wish to pay attention to is our Foreign Affairs Policy during my term as Foreign Minister of the DSA. I myself think we merely need one rule to determine whether a region should be eligible for an embassy with us: having had extensive contacts with us. Positive contacts, of course. I see this rule as being the only one necessary since I don't think we would engage into friendly relations in a region that doesn't match our ideals in the first place. Thirdly and lastly, I'd like to inform everyone here that the UDL is interested in opening relations with us through forum embassies. I personally am against this proposal, looking at our interregional position. We'd probably only get flak from this, and I honestly don't see any real benefits to having relations with them either. I am keen to hear all your opinions, though, and I'll supply you with the draft proposal I received from Unibot. Draft Yours, The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Socialist Assembly |

Herrebrugh, I would like to start off by saying that I whole-heartedly support the termination of our embassy with the UPFS, and I agree with your views on that topic. However, I disagree on your opinion about the UDF proposal. Yes, having relations with them may open us up to some scrutiny from some, but to that I say "Who cares." The only opinion that should matter to us is ours and our allies, and I think the UDF would be a huge ally to us. Also, you yourself said there should be one rule when considering relations with a region (the term 'region' should include a group like the UDL), we should only have one rule, and I believe that the DSA and the UDF have had positive and peaceful relations so far. Not to mention that many of DSA members are also members of the UDL. It think any relations with them would be nothing but benificial. |

Not necessarily to our region specifically. But if we gain relations with them, it would help them gain members which would help hem save regions from invasion. It's benefits those regions who have been raided. I thought our region outspoken opposed raiding. |

I personally see a disadvantage to that for us as well. If we lose WA-members, this might weaken our position in the future. I think the UDL is an extremely honourable organization doing great things for regions all over NationStates, I just don't see a good reason for us to engage in relations with them, at least not according to the current draft. |
