Greetings to you, my fellow comrades of the Third Cabinet of the DSA! Thank you all for a strong start in regional business starting in the last meeting. I would like a status update from each ministry by the end of this meeting next Sunday. Below I have a few specific questions for each of you: 1) Updates since last meeting: a) The Calendar is being populated. It actually already exists in the forum; so nothing new needs to be created. I just discovered that while trying to find a place for it Regardless, I'm glad to be utilizing it again as I think it will be a valuable tool for the region. I welcome ideas as to what all we want to place there.b) R2012.10.6 & R2012.10.7 are ready for Congressional scrutiny; they can be found in Cabinet meeting 3.1. c) I will embark this week (my Thanksgiving break from school) to reorganize the forum. I apologize in advance for any inconvenience this causes before it's done! 2) Minister of Cartography (MoC), [nation]Ritchardville[/nation]: a) Have you had success accessing the map for editing? 3) Minister of Domestic Affairs (MDA), [nation]The Northeast[/nation]: a) I will soon have the nomination forum set up for the first of several contests (Flag Design). Would you be willing to take on this task for future contests? Since these are more informal and outside the framework of the Charter, you may determine the rules of the nominations process and voting process to your liking; just keep it fair. b) Would you be willing to begin a discussion topic this week in The Great Debate Hall? Anything topic you feel is relevant and interesting will be good, and nothing is off-limits. I ask each member of this Cabinet to contribute some sort of commentary in these debates when they begin so that we can keep up regional activity. c) I request your help with welcoming new Comrades to the region. Here is the script that I use; feel free to change it up if you like: "I warmly welcome our newest Comrades, [nation][/nation], to the Democratic Socialist Assembly! Please feel free to opt-in to our regional Charter (link at the top) so that you can vote and take part in regional government. I also encourage you to check out our regional forum and take part in the debates and discussions there. Again, welcome to the DSA, Comrades!" d) Would you be willing to take on updating the NS Wiki this term? There is quite a lot to update; but Arcomo has done a fantastic job updating our regional history in our Capitol City State's factbook 4) Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), [nation]Fyrossarian[/nation]: a) Are there any further developments in the DSAlliance with regards to CMK? b) What is your recommendation for the embassy request from [region]The United Socialist States of Marxists[/region]? c) What is your recommendation for the embassy request from [region]The People's Republic of Indonesian Soviet[/region]? d) Please have your ambassadors invite our interregional partners to take part in these debates as the new topics begin; coordinate with the MDA. e) Please revive our ambassador nation, [nation]DSA Ambassador to UDLR[/nation], so that we can once again have a formal presence there. Feel free to delegate this. I believe the password is: 9pg8yu2 If that's not it, then check with Commrade [nation]Herrebrugh[/nation]. f) Are there any new regions with whom you would like us to share embassies? 5) Minister of Immigration/Regional Promotion (MIRP), [nation]Haltari[/nation]: a) Our numbers continue to rise - we are on the right track! Is there anything this Cabinet can do to further aid in the recruitment efforts? b) I had seen a question in the RMB about the "NS World Fair." I am unfamiliar with one for the whole NS game; but there was one a while back for socialist-leaning regions. Are there any similar events coming up that we should start working on? c) Would you be willing to create a new 'medal' for best national anthem? 6) Minister of Justice (MoJ), [nation]Jotunland[/nation]: a) Have there been any nations on the ejection list that have refused or not responded to the offer to begin the RHP? If so, let me know if you would like me to carry out any ejections. b) Would you be willing to create a new 'medal' for best national anthem? 7) Secretary General (SG), [nation]Arcomo[/nation]: a) When will voting begin for the new referenda? I will create a link for it in the Current Affairs link. b) In light of some truly repugnant legislation that has been brought before WA recently, I wonder if you would like to continue work on the resolution for bridging medical information that you started earlier this year? I would be happy to help you with that if that is something that fits in your schedule. c) Do you have any referenda for the November series? That's all I have for this meeting. Let us know if you have additional ideas. Thanks for your time and contributions, Commrades! Your President and World Assembly Delegate, [nation]Suceavija[/nation] Edited by Suceavija, 24 Nov 2012, 08:48.

a. It is definitely surprising how fast our numbers are increasing. One word of advice to all nations in the recruitment tool would possibly more participation because over the last 2 weeks, only The Northeast and I have done any recruiting. b. I have not seen any mention of any new "World Fair" style events, but I will definitely look into it. I will update this post with anything that I find later this week. c. Sure! I can make a national anthem medal. I can have it done on Wednesday. Edited by Haltari, 20 Nov 2012, 04:21.

I think is the "World Fair " some of our fellow D.S.Assembly members have inquired about : http://s1.zetaboards.com/DemocraticSocialist/topic/4992310/1/#new Regarding my duties this meeting: a.) - I have not sent MoJ telegrams yet, so I'll get started with that very soon (today). Although I updated the status of the previously listed offending member nations, this week I'll check for any new offenders to add to the list. b.) - Yes, I'll submit a design within a day or so! Regarding the Debates: I was going to post a new topic in the debates last week regarding the growing role of technology in horror stories, but I felt it was not relevant enough to post. Instead I've just come up with a better idea. I think we could create issues regarding diplomacy between nations in the D.S.Assembly (perhaps using the map for visual aid) or perhaps debate legislation for issues important to ones own nation. For example: " The issue of legalizing Dueling has become a high priority decision for Jotunland. Most of the people of Jotunland all agree it is ultimately wrong as it can be seen as legalizing a criminal act, but the argument for legalizing Dueling is that as there are no police or jails\prisons it could at least bring some order to hostile interactions (but as with most decisions, it is recognized that there is room for such a practice to be abused.) Historically pistols had been introduced to dueling because the weapon's mechanical action was more simple then the complicated use of swords as one had to hire a master to help them train for a duel, and therefore firearms catered to unexperienced challengers. The act of walking a few paces and then turning to fire a shot was designed so that aiming was difficult, and as long as both shots were fired (hit or miss), honor would be satisfied. For this reason, if dueling were to be legalized, the use firearms for duels would be either discouraged or totally illegal."... Theres more to be said there, but I'll leave that for the actual debate page instead. Edited by JotunGrammaticus, 20 Nov 2012, 20:47.

Yes, I would love to take this on, just get the forum up and I will take care of the rest! b) Would you be willing to begin a discussion topic this week in The Great Debate Hall? Anything topic you feel is relevant and interesting will be good, and nothing is off-limits. I ask each member of this Cabinet to contribute some sort of commentary in these debates when they begin so that we can keep up regional activity. Sure, I'm sure I could find something interesting to discuss... c) I request your help with welcoming new Comrades to the region. I can surely help out with this. d) Would you be willing to take on updating the NS Wiki this term? There is quite a lot to update; but Arcomo has done a fantastic job updating our regional history in our Capitol City State's factbook I have in fact looked at our NS Wiki page a few times and I believe I could make some improvements. |

I have now created the new medal and updated an earlier one that was off-center. They are both posted on the design contest page. Also, I looked into the "World Fair," and outside of the link that JotunGrammaticus posted, I have not found anything. |

"As founder of the region I have every right to use my powers as I see fit. I also am no longer bound by the region's charter since I'm no longer a charter member. So I don't need anyone's permission to use my powers as Founder of the region." -[nation]Cynthia McKinney[/nation] This recent quote was brought by Comrade Laevendell to the RMB, and this stated philosophy combined with the recent actions taken by CMK last week to eject two rivals from the DSAlliance demonstrates a dire threat to our friends there. While there is no practical action we can take as a region to defend them from her actions, I feel that it is our obligation as their ally to at least bring international condemnation to CMK in the WA Sec. Council as a symbolic gesture of solidarity (that forum is desperate for a substantive piece of legislation to pass anyway, as well as for a way to restore its legitimacy to the NS game by serving a purpose beyond a good laugh for all of us). I don't have the time to embark on this alone, and I will ask that at least one or two members of this Cabinet to aid in its drafting if this is to get off the ground. If we can get volunteers gathered within the week or two, I would then like the MFA and the diplomatic corps to work with the active members of the DSAlliance to gather quotes and historical data (# of ejections carried out by CMK, quotes left by CMK in the DSAlliance's RMB and Forum, etc.) to build a case against CMK that we can concisely claim in a formal condemnation of her. This may be a good time to delegate part of this task to Comrade [nation]Kryftland[/nation] who is eager to help with regional governance. I would also like to open this initiative up to our other sympathetic friends in the UDLR to contribute content and constructive criticism, primarily [region]Social Liberal Union[/nation], to demonstrate a broad consensus for this condemnation. Start by contacting [nation]New Bazlantis[/nation] who is well-aware of CMK's nature as well as her long record of violations of democratic rights of our friends in the DSAlliance. Are there any volunteers to help draft language for the condemnation of CMK from this Cabinet? Here is the link to the condemnation discussion: Link Edited by Suceavija, 24 Nov 2012, 00:03.

The only developments with Cynthia McKinney I'm aware of are the ones available for all of you to see on their RMB. I'd contacted the DSAlliance with requests for more information, but they don't appear to have much more. Embassies: Marxists Internet Archive - reject, not an actual region, only one nation. United Socialist Republic of Indonesia - reject, too small, embassy collectors. The communist region - reject. The Comintern allience - reject, far too small, undemocratic and awful spelling. There are no new regions I'd recommend having embassies with. I've also revived the DSA Ambassador to UDLR, and moved them back to the UDLR. |

As you all may have noticed I have been inactive for a while, my apologies for that - real life has been rather busy lately and will be for the coming month or so. For that reason I haven't really got the time and energy to deal with writing legislation or really doing much of anything on here. I'll try to keep up with new Charter opt-ins and the embassies I still control, but things will be slow in my office until the winter break. I would propose our President takes up things like referenda for this period, as I won't be able to initiate any of that. The World Health Database project could be picked up again in the winter break, the seasonal holidays usually come with poor African kids supposedly in need of currency, so the people of NS might be more susceptible to something humanitarian like our project because of that. If there's anything urgent you want me to do, the fastest way to reach me will be through telegram. |

Regardless, I'm glad to be utilizing it again as I think it will be a valuable tool for the region. I welcome ideas as to what all we want to place there.
