I've taken some time to go through the embassy list, and these are the embassies that I feel should be closed. Socialist Alliance United Socialist Republics The Nonaligned Movement The Alternative Left Renaissance Coalition of Leftist Comrades Eastern Islands of Dharma Democrats The Allied Republics |

I concur with all of the above. I remember Socialist Alliance was a region the Herrebrugh liberated and it was stated that it would get active soon, however, it seems it didn't work out. It's unfortunate that so many regions have become inactive. The last one in the list I don't recall at all. |

Perhaps we should send a message to Herrebrugh with regards to the Socialist Alliance, I wouldn't want to offend. Also I would add [region]Renaissance[/region], [region]the Proletariat Coalition[/region] and [region]Democrats[/region] to the list of those to go. I would like the Minister of Foreign Affairs to make his recommendations before we proceed. Edited by New Bazlantis, 12 Jun 2012, 05:50.

I agree with the list. Our list should reflect our closest regional priorities, and should be small enough to be manageable for our diplomats. After all, it's not a popularity contest. |

Regarding the embassies of the Democratic Socialist Assembly: The following are my proposed criteria that I would like to apply to the maintenance and opening of current and future interregional embassies: -Regions having similar ideology to that of our own; -Regions expressing a genuine interest to interact with our region on more than a one-time basis; -Regions demonstrating conduct commensurate with that of the Democratic Socialist Assembly -Regions offering potential benefits to our region through alliance or other diplomatic ties -Regions containing no more than 10% of nations falling within our banned categories; -Regions having activity within the last 14 days of any given day on their RMB’s; -Regions containing at least 10 nations Please indicate if there are more criteria you would like to see in this list, or if you think this list is too stringent. Below are the embassies that I am proposing we close due to various reasons including inactivity, lack of diplomatic benefit, conflicting ideology, having too many member nations falling within our region's banned categories list, and/or concerns about dubious affiliation: -United Peoples Front for Socialism; 12% of constituent nations are within our region’s banned categories -Socialist Alliance; contains only one nation (founder), inactive for almost a year -United Socialist Republics; 27% of constituent nations are within our region’s banned categories, inactive for over three weeks -The Non-aligned Movement; 58% of constituent nations are within our region’s banned categories, dubious regional ideology and affiliation, inactive for over a month -The Alternative Left; contains only 8 nations, inactive for over 14 days (possible recruitment opportunities of malcontents exist as regional ideologies seem very compatible to those of our own) -Renaissance; 29% of constituent nations are within our region’s banned categories, dubious regional ideology and affiliation -Coalition of Leftist Comrades; 15% of constituent nations are within our region’s banned categories -Eastern Islands of Dharma; 29% of constituent nations are within our region’s banned categories, dubious regional ideology and affiliation -Democrats; 26% of constituent nations are within our region’s banned categories -The Allied Republics; 15% of constituent nations are within our region’s banned categories Below are the embassies that I am proposing to maintain due to compliance with our regional criteria: -Union of Democratic Leftist Regions; -Social Liberal Union; -Democratic Socialist Alliance; -Communist International League; -The Internationale; -The Proletariat Coalition I would like to get input from the cabinet on my proposals. Following your input, I will appoint ambassadors to our remaining embassies and to look for more regions that would complement our own through diplomatic relations. Please do not hesitate to come forth with your ideas for future endeavors of the Foreign Ministry. |

As stated in the other Cabinet thread, I think Suceavija's embassy policy is wonderfully suited to our needs and I would, should others agree, like to make it a policy of this administration. I would also like to propose cutting the Communist International League, The Internationale, The Proletariat Coalition and anything else that harbours the stench of Antifa for that matter from the list. As you know I am very much against all raiding activity and to keep in line with our long standing neutrality I believe distancing ourselves from Antifa is prudent. In the United Defenders League I see every day how destructive these guys can be even to regions that are not 'socialist enough' or fitting of their particular brand of tainted leftism. It is not the kind of behaviour I want to condone with an embassy. |

I agree with most of the proposed set of critera and think they're very well throught through. There is one that I think is a little too harsh though:
My suggestion would be 25% as some regions don't really agree with all of our banned categories, but may still be valuable regions to have embassies with and from which we as well as they could gain. On the matter of Antifa, while I don't agree with their methods or goals either, I believe having embassy relations with regions that are in some way affiliated with Antifa does not have to be a negative. We may have many things in common with these regions, excluding Antifa and in my opinion those common ideas are worth more than the differences between us. If a region partaking in Antifa conducts in a manner we as a region (Congress) find unacceptable, I believe we should first issue a statement of protest and gather information from all sides before taking further measures. Edit: Just to add that I was unaware that the CIL had any official participation in Antifa, not that The Proletariat Coalition did (though I'm less familiar with the latter). The Internationale is of course obvious.

I fully agree with the proposals put forward by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Suceavija. I also agree with Laevendell that 10% is a bit mean.. but not too mean. |

I really don't see the benefit of being in the same boat as the Antifa regions (CIL offers assistance to both Antifa and the Red Fleet to my knowledge by the way). I think it would be counter to the goals of this embassy overhaul to continue to maintain embassies with them. We're cleaning up and making sure that our embassy list reflects our foreign policy objectives and I definitely do not want anyone to misunderstand our foreign policy as being in any way related to the goals of Antifa. |
