Sion sat there for quite a while until something within the crowded mall caught his eye. A woman with black pixie-cut hair motioned him to follow her. She was familiar, she looked like Madeleine and seemed to be wearing a spacefaring suit, strangely her RIG was empty but she seemed as lively as ever as people walked around her. As she walked a wisp of light would trail from behind her, as if she were a celestial princess. Sion gave chase, pushing past the crowd which was something he would never do, but he had to chase this woman, his sister. "I'll take you home," came a whisper as Sion entered an empty corridor. The whisper came quietly and ominously. The light trail sparkled as the woman walked on ahead. "The Cassini Towers." The woman recited. Every now and again she would look back and her eyes would be glowing like a shining star and every time she opened her mouth, stars sparkled inside. Sion felt warmth and love emanating from within this strange woman. It was his sister, no doubt. "I'm your sister." She whispered, as if reading his mind. Sion couldn't find it anywhere in himself to call this strange woman his sister. "I'm your sister." She would repeat. There was crying coming from one of the rooms and then a scream and shatter from others. One of the doors had slammed up ahead but Sion felt no fear as he walked on with his sister. "Don't be scared." Her voice was just a whisper, nothing but. The strange thing about it was that it sounded like she was speaking through a radio. She sounded almost sinister but she meant no harm. The woman stopped outside Room 346, Sion's apartment, and stood there waving her hand. "Hello." She whispered. "Hello." Sion placed his hand on the door knob but what he saw on the built-in console was weird. His parents were fighting and he could hear muffled argument behind the thick oak door. Sion looked up at the woman who just smiled and waved. "Hello." "Tell me you see her too!" Christopher yelled ferociously at Madeleine. Madeleine shook her head though and retaliated weakly, "No! No I can't, she's dead. Everyone on-board the Ishimura, died. She can't be alive. They even told us she was found deceased. We even have her dogtags, Chris. Please! Just stop, Sion could walk through that damn door any minute!" Chris grabbed Madeleine this time and she cringed and began to cry. He held onto her Marker pendant which gave off a glare on the console. The tip sparkled. He brought it to her neck. "She's alive, Maddie." His whisper was just audible. "And don't lie to me. She's alive. You saw her, I saw her! Goddammit! I saw her!" Chris yelled uncontrollably, throwing chairs around and pushing Madeleine to the floor where she wept in a crumpled heap. "I'll go find him." Chris finally said through exasperated breaths. "No," Madeleine retaliated, getting up and grabbing onto Chris' pant leg. "No! Don't go near him!" "Let go of me you bitch!" And with one quick backhand, Madeleine fell to the floor, limpless. "Hello." The glowing woman smiled as if nothing happened. Sion felt tears roll down his smooth cheek and he backed away from the door when he heard footsteps moving towards the door. The footsteps got softer and softer as he ran down the hall, crying, the door opened but he was miles away. There was a gasp as Sion turned around to see his father staring right at the glowing woman who continued to smile and wave. "Hello." |

Reinhart Richardson - Atlas Grimoire
|
Atlas opened his eyes, taking a few sighs to look around the dark room in a daze. The clock struck 11:30 PM; they had been there all day. He felt something on his chest; Leonora was still sleeping. He smiled, and laid back. After another couple of minutes, he could feel her awakening breath, but she kept her head down, softly speaking, “Atlas?” He traced her shoulder with his hand, “Yes?” “I’m sorry you had to see that.” “No, no, it’s no big deal. Glad to have been there instead of you being alone to deal with it.” “You’re sweet…thank you. Really, it means a lot.” “No problem. Everyone needs someone, I guess.” “Well, I certainly need you now.” “I’ll be here.” He felt a solitary tear fall against his arm, and shifted her until she was facing him. “Atlas, I-“ “Shh…hold on.” There was an awkward silence as she watched him think. Suddenly he turned and smiled, “Let’s go somewhere.” “Where?” “Just follow me.” With that, he led her out of her office, down the corridor and stairs, trekking to his apartment. “You like scary movies?” “Who doesn’t?” “Good answer. You’ll be the first person to ever watch one with me, yeah?” “Okay.” She smiled. They passed a man sitting in the corner, mumbling and shaking violently, “Goddammit! Get off of me! You there,” He pointed to Atlas, “Get her off of me!” There was nobody there. “Sir, are you okay?” Leonora inquired with a concerned tone. The man went off in strange tongues, then repeating the phrase, “She’s alive! She’s alive and she wants me!” He began to laugh hysterically. “What’s wrong with him?” Atlas began to edge closer to Leonora, protectively. “He’s disturbed. We need to call emergency services.” The man suddenly pulled out a rather large knife, hooking it at the invisible assailant, prompting Leonora to jump back, Atlas shielding her. The man looked at them, “I killed her…I killed her again!!! You fools! Why would you let me do that to myself? Who is this you see here?” He pointed at the corpse only he could see. “Sir, you need to calm down, we’ll take you to the-“ “No! You need to learn what I truly am. A hero! A successor to a wavering-“ His speech drew once again into strange tongues, ending with a final motion. The man took his knife, pressed it up against his neck, and performed a slicing motion, causing a brief blood-spurt that streaked Leonora’s cheerful white shirt with a menacing red dye. Leonora began to faint, slumping in Atlas’ arms. All of this had happened so quickly, Atlas just stood there, his eyes wide with shock staring at the corpse whose eyes had not shut, but rather look right into Atlas’ with a devilish grin. Aiden Conley, Ship Systems
|
The sound of the alarm split the air in Aiden's room for the last time. Seemingly without reasonable provocation, his fist crashed down on the alarm clock, crushing the small device. The clock issued a pitiful warble, then ceased functioning. It was at this point that Aiden woke. He first noticed a throbbing pain in his right hand, and looked over. He stared. This was not the first odd outburst he had suffered. He had daydreamed that his father was harassing him the other day, and threw a bunch at the steel paneling on the shuttle he was repairing. First the shuttle... now this? He groaned, stood up, and walked over to the shower. He stood under the frigid water, when he heard something. "Aiden.... Aiden...." Aiden froze beneath the jets of water. It was the voice of his mother, 2 years deceased. "M-mom?" No, damnit, she isn't alive, she's dead! You saw them cremate her, Aiden! "Aiden, you need to make us whole..." "Mom, you're not here, you're dead! Dead and Gone!" At this, a stabbing pain echoed throughout Aiden's head, and Kindra's voice disappeared. Aiden climbed out, and got ready for work. He strode into the Shipyard, and walked into the check-in office, then sighed. It's simply not the same without that asshole here... John had committed suicide just a day before, after charging another Engineer, Ramirez with a Rivet gun. It was an alien moment to Aiden as he punched in his time at the small terminal that John used to use. Aiden walked solumnly towards the bay he was working. He opened the door, the recorded CEC greeting going off as he was permitted access, as it always did. He walked into the changing room and got into his working RIG. Moments later as he walked out into the work bay, a comm meaasge reached him. The RIG view popped up. It was Alexandria. "Aiden?" Aiden unlocked his helmet and it folded down into the rest of the suit. "Hey, honey. Why the call?" Alex's face shifted to an expression of worry. "What time are you off work today, Den?" "As soon as I install the shockpoint drive. Why?" "Well, it's Ron..." Aiden broke a sweat. Alex's younger brother, Ron, lived next door, and had assulted him only a day before with a kitchen knife. "What happened? I thought they took him to the psych ward." "They did, they said his condition is getting worse, they want us to go in and see if I can get to him." "Alright. Alex, I need to get to work. I'll call you as soon as I finish up here." |

Alexis shut off her communicator, she was a tad flustered, the appartment was a mess. She rushed around placing things out of sight, her version of tidying. Carmain was good to them, he made getting by each month a little easier with his financial contributions, they didn't come for nothing though. But odd jobs for him now and then were no skin of her back, they were preferably from fiddling around repairing things or trying to make sales at toy-toy. A sudden knock came at the door; despite knowing exactly who it was, Alexis still felt slightly anxious when approaching to let them in. Standing there in the door frame was Carmain, of course. Beaming at her with his ever charming smile, originaly she'd blushed at him everytime, now her facial redness was embarassment at her shameful state of living. But he didn't comment. Instead he just handed her some fancy toy wrapped in her payment. She stared at it momentarily, confused, trying to figure out what she'd been handed. "It's a G.R.I.P" he added, to which she could only raise her brow "A kinesis module, I was hoping you might be able to fix it for me, test run it too if you like. I'll collect it when I see you next!" Before more words could be exchanged, Ada had already emerged from her bedroom and attack hugged Carmain where he stood. Alexis just flashed him a smile "Thanks, i'll see what I can do, Ada will see you out" she giggled, retreating to her own room to start work on the gadget. A kenisis module eh? she'd have fun with this. |

The Steel Sun Corporation "Mr. Hideki, two workers have called in sick from headaches." A soft voice rang out from a speaker mounted on the corner of a wall. "That's fine Ms. Snyder, please try not to interrupt me while I am working." The man talk had press a button on a small console just below the speaker he was wearing a welding mask and had a few tools sprawled out on a table below the speaker. "A few more pieces of metal and it should be ready." He stared at a rig suit, but not just any rig suit. He had modified this one with different look and added more pieces of metal for more protection. He then looked on the table and picked up a handle with a rubber grip and what appeared to be the fire mechanism of a plasma cutter. On the side of the handle was a wire connecting to the top and a long metal piece that stretched about the entire length of the table measuring out to 67 1/2 inches. The metal piece bent around to face the top of the handle with 3 small metal boxes in the direct path of the firing mechanism. He pressed a circular button on the side that fit into the rubber. The top of the handle fired 3 beams at the boxes. He then pushed the button again as then the boxes kept the beams intact without them dispersing. "Perfectly done." He spoke with an enthusiastic tone. He walked out of his workshop and saw that a large package had been left. On top were Japanese characters. He quickly opened it with glee. "Now to complete it all." He hoisted what appeared to be a small looking piece of metal. He walked back into his shop and placed the odd piece of metal onto the table. He approached the same rig suit he had been working on. He then took the metal piece and placed it in between a place for the helmet. It was samurai armor that had been fashioned into a rig and now with the final mask plate in place it was ready. |
