Hello there, fellow roleplayers!

As you may have requested, or heard about, or even thought about yourselves, many of you are wondering whether there is going to be another roleplay based during the events of Dead Space 2 and be set on The Sprawl.

In which case, your calls have been listened to, and Shadow and myself have been working behind the scenes on a brand new RP hosted on this site.

As thought, it will be set aboard Titan Station or "The Sprawl", and will take place over a period of time, which will span from before the events of the game and finish at some point after the game.

The new Roleplay will be opening tonight, for all members to see, however there is currently no chapter open, and only the Characters, Logs and Locations, so that you have more time to spend detailing and perfecting your characters before getting into the story.

Also some rules have changed, so read up on them in the section.

I've been working, for the past couple months now on and off, on a Dead Space related fan site.
Currently, the content is fairly basic, but I hope to have fan art, fan fiction, and article submissions from fans to upload soon.
Of course, I'll be adding Dead Space news as it is announced.

Hey all!

Staff and I have been talking, and we've come to the conclusion that the "word cap" idea wasn't the best route to take for the RP. The votes were also very split on the issue, so mandating a word count seemed a bit unfair for those not too keen on the idea.

Instead, we suggest TWO very easy to manage options that ought to make handling the RP easier for everyone.

1) Adding a "location header" at the start of your RP post.

This is quite simple. At the beginning of your post, type your character's location, such as "Shuttle Bay" or "Medical Deck, Infirmary." If your character ends up leaving that location by the end of the post, that is fine. Simply add the new location at the end of the post. This will help readers to help set the scene while reading and works as an easy reference when other's are writing their own posts.

2) A Brief summary at the end of posts that exceed 500 words.

Again, we feel this is not asking too much. If your post is longer than 500 words (http://www.wordcounttool.com/), add a brief (less then 100 words) summary at the bottom of the post. This will make things easier for those who have read your post, but have forgotten the KEY (essential) details later, or simply don't have the time to read the post right away.

-Example: For Zazi's post above, this summary would do nicely (only 34 words!):

"David flees from necros in the mess hall to the crew deck's movie theater. He finds a temporary sanctuary just before receiving a message from his father to meet him on the flight deck."


Of course, we certainly can't enforce members to abide by these, but we do strongly suggest you consider implementing both into your RP posts just to makes things flow more smoothly from now on.

Hi all!

I've just got installed an Award System code onto the forum.
NOTE: The awards are not automatic! They still have to be entered individually into the forum code in order to work!

Throughout the RP, we'll be making more awards available. The plan is to have about FIVE Awards per Chapter. However, some awards may be "special" in that only one person will be able to win the award.

So far you can have:

1) "You've Got Character" -- Awarded to those who created a character & posted 5 times in the RP.

2) "There's Safety in Numbers" --Awarded to those who formed a group with atl east 3 other characters in the RP.

3) "Hot Stuff" --Created a discussion topic that becomes popular (red folder next to the tropic, sorry does NOT include character & spam threads!).

4) "Do I smell cheese?"--Awarded to those kill a necromorph and proclaim a really corny one liner. (You gotta impress us with this one!)

5) "Story Teller" -- Awarded to those who create an Audio, Text, or Vid log that are linked directly in their Role Play post. (e.g. like the Marker Vid used in the first post of Chapter 1).


To see the Award Details, simple just hover your cursor over the award!

Just so you know, you'll have to excuse us Admins if we accidentally fail to notice that you've met the requirements to win an award! We are fairly busy so do not be offended if you meet the requirements but do not see an award under your avatar!
What you can do is PM one of the Staff and we will go ahead and add the appropriate award if we agree that you've met the requirement!

I hope this will be fun & an enjoyable add-on for you all to help complete the RP experience! Kudos to Trinity Kill for suggesting this idea in the first place!

After careful consideration, Shadow and I have decided that the best member suited for the new Global Moderator (Now VESTED) position is SinfulDeity! Congratulations!

I'd also like to congratulate TrinityKill on becoming the new Moderator (Now Overseer) for the General Talk forum, Spam sub-forum, and Dead Space Games & Film/Comics forums!

It wasn't an easy decision, all of you who applied show strong potential to be excellent staff members, but Sinful had the edge with his years of moderating experience. Trinity was a good choice to work with Shadow because he lives in the UK time zone.

Shadow has also been promoted to an Admin (now ENIGMA) for I will be taking temporary leave on July 7th. She may be in charge of setting up Chapter 2 when the time comes, and she will have primary authority over the RP while I am away.

And, yes I had to mess with the staff titles because there are three ranks now, I hope this isn't confusing. If it's messing with people, I can always revert to the boring Admin, GM, and Mod titles, haha.

After advertising the forum link in several places online, I'm kinda curious as to know where some of you are coming from.

Obviously, I know the first wave of you all came from EA, but as the community continues to grow on a daily basis, I'd like to know... where did you find the link to this small section of the internets?

I've only posted the link twice on Dead Space's wall on FB, but if several of you caught it there, I might post it more often (because as far as I know, it's been completely ignored on FB, lol).

There's a feature on Zetaboards that allows for joinable member groups, would any of you like to see something like that?

I'm not sure what it can offer, other than aid in organizational purposes. We can have a member group for those of us who originate on the Ishimura, and another group for those RPing characters who live on the Colony... do you think that this would be beneficial to the RP or just plain pointless?

Any input on the matter is welcome!
