Please tell me I'm not the only one that feels insulted by this stuff; IGN does it again

Hey guys you know what girls like! Not video games! Not unless they are simple like Rockband or full of colors and dont take any time at all! Boy it sure is great that IGN can post articles like this so that everyone will know how to get us into video games and stuff!

http://au.games.ign.com/articles/103/1034448p2.html

Seriously why do people keep making these articles! ARGH! Maybe I'm overreacting a bit but every single thing listed here felt like an insult to me. even the point about old school gaming! And I am an old school gamer!

I think the worst part of this article is this line right here:
"Here it comes. The reason girls will get annoyed that you're playing games isn't because you're not doing housework or you appear to be 'wasting your time'. It's because you're giving something else your complete and utter attention - and it's not her. Even worse, you're having fun! You're having fun without her and she's in the same room as you."

This is how I describe my cat when I do things and not pay attention to her.

thanks to Eegra for the heads up.

I never liked IGN. It's not that great a site, and it has way too many ads.

Thats why I like Eegra because they make fun of those sites, have good comics and the only ads are those horrid American Apparel ads.

Plus I'm in their Sexxy Sexxbombs Database, which is a collection of questions and pictures of readers that they created as a backlash from what i think was once again IGN making one for models readers who want money play video games.

Agreed with Odairu.
Now Ive never had a girlfriend, but if I do, I doubt video games will be in question, as I don't play them as often. Of course, if she wishes to play a video game that I don't care for or hate, Id be willing to play the game if it meant she was happy. However, if it was a game like Melee were I kick ass no matter what, Im not so sure, because then she might feel like she sucks at the game.
Just thoughts.

I agree, its all stereotypes.

Maybe because the jews are stereotyped alot, alot of jews do work at IGN.

Such as Hilary Goldstein, he got everyone believing that Banjo-Kazooie 3 was canned. Douchebag, it wasn't canned at all, he just jumped to conclusions because Rare dont make huge announcements and such.

Now that video did it well.
Didnt insult and adressed the thoughts on it. I agreed with alot of what he said(particularly about the oversexed "girl gamers" image).
I'm a little iffy about the types of games thing still though but maybe thats just because I find the games that are popular now very interesting as well. Also I've never been offended by sexy video game characters. I actuly found the jiggle physics in DoA more funny and entertaining than any guy I know XD

This is stereotyped and frankly, it would be the same deal with any casual gamer. They've just stuck the 'girlfriend' label on it because that's the typical 'casual-gamer' that a 'gamer' will come in contact with, apart from maybe a family member.

Also, I don't necessarily agree with the 'commitment free' comment, because it seems pretty clear that whoever wrote that didn't think of The Sims.

I know, I haven't checked my GC Animal Crossing town in years. I'm scared that Quetzal would have left. :(

Haven't played my Wii town in ages either...

Animal Crossing is a great game for both genders, but not hardcore Halo fans and the type.
I like both types, actually.

I actuly dont think Halo is all that hardcore considering everyone that has an Xbox owns it. So alot of more casual gamers have it no matter what your definition of the word is.
