External Hard Drive Recommendations?

I got my eyes on you.
I'm looking into getting an external hard drive to store old school projects and backups so that I can keep my laptop free for new assignments and such. I noticed after helping my sister with her Media assignment, that 60GB can be easily filled up with some decent backups and footage.

At the moment I have:
- 160GB Macbook (duel boot, so half-half Mac/Windows partitions.) I'm going to have to uninstall Windows and reinstall because I gave it waaaaay too much space, but I need some sort of external space for my Windows backups.
- 16GB USB drive, for transfer purposes and (for the moment) backups

This does generally get me by without too much trouble, but I'm getting worried that zip file backups can only go so far. :P

So, any recommendations for an external hard drive? I'm hoping for something around $200 or under. How much space can you generally get for this amount. 1T would be nice, but I'm not too fussy. I think the minimum that I'd require would be around 250GB, but I'd prefer 500GB or higher.

Also, the hard drive needs to be Mac and Windows compatible, obviously.

Any suggestions?

I dunno, Those ones were probably low grade, low quality.

But between 60-140$ you'll have yourself a 1TB.

I'm surprised you only have a 160gb hard drive on your laptop, I've been looking around and most seem to have like 360 - 500gigs. Although yours is a mac I haven't looked at those. Great story.... Lol you must have some huge files! I still haven't filled up my 2 gig USB!

I've already got my 16gb USB pretty much filled as well, but that's because I've got my Adobe MC CS4 and Office Mac backups on it. When I get the external hard drive, I can put them there and free up my USB.

But it's not so much the size of the files, it's all the backups. I also duel boot, so half is Mac and the other half is Windows (I'm going to have to remove my Windows partition sometime and put it back on, because I gave it waaaay too much space).

But yeah, I really should have though about maybe Hackintoshing instead of actually buying a Mac. *Scratches chin* Oh well. It's still bigger than my PC desktop (which is shared between my family).
