I went to my Control Panel then to the Uninstall programs screen and I noticed that Internet Explorer is not in there... Wonder why that is?

I think maybe internet explorer is a basic internet browser that comes with the computer. And therefore it's stubborn and won't let you get rid of it. I haven't used it once on my new computer from my uncle and it has not gotten off the start menu, the short one that shows your recently opend programs.

I could be wrong, but I believe Windows needs IE for other things.

It doesn't. I've heard people uninstall IE and have no problems.

As for 'how-to' uninstall it, I'm not sure. Like I would care anyway, I use a Mac. :P

Though I'm guessing this could help:

I think its embedded with the operating system. They tried to ban Microsoft from including IE with their OS in the US because they thought it was giving it a monopoly. In the end I think the settled for having an option for disabling it; but you still can't uninstall the base version that has come with the OS because it can cause the OS to be screwy.

I heard once that Google approached Microsoft with a bunch of money, suggesting that they make Chrome the default in Windows, partially because IE is such a piece of **** and because it was Google. :P

Don't quote me on that though. It may have just been a rumour.

There is nothing wrong with IE, people just don't like it because its the default and they feel more fancy-pantsy-know-it-all if they switch to something else

These are the two main reasons why people dislike IE. Even though it's just two, they're two very big reasons to avoid IE.

I don't have hatred towards default programs, but I certainly have hatred towards shit programs.

1) IE cannot handle traditional coding standards. It's a well known web-design fact that if IE displays your page correctly then it's likely to be poorly coded.

This is an example of what happens when IE displays something that another browser would not:

And why:

2) Security, which goes along with the coding thing. Because IE displays proper code so poorly (and because a few little things called ActiveX and Active Script which are integrated so nicely with Windows), :P it is very easy to abuse and attack.

If you want a more thorough walkthrough of the above reasons, read this:

And if you're still not convinced:

You know the facts, Hannah. Don't be an idiot and just switch browsers already.

I think the IE is not there because its part of the OS or I mean its one of the feature of your OS that has been installed. That's why you don't have opportunity to uninstall it unless you will reformat your pc.
