I got my eyes on you.
Welcome to the 8th Anniversary. Was there anybody here personally affected by the tragedy? Has anybody been to ground zero and seen the ruins?

I remember being in Grade 5 and actually not doing anything in class the entire day because they got all the Grade 5's and 6's together to watch the news. It was really bizarre. I remember feeling so sorry for those involved, but thankful that I wasn't one of them.

For those who got the epic quality significant others who had all three traits when you acquired them... Grats, you lucky bastard

I was in keyboarding class during my freshman year of high school. I saw it on the classroom TV but I wasn't really sure what was going on, I was too busy playing internet games.

And I was wondering why people were making such a fuss over the 11th of November today.

Some of what you guys said was really offensive. For example:

Welcome to the 8th Anniversary.

Now I know you don't live over here in America. But that is really offensive. Maybe people over in other countries don't care as much since it didn't happen in their homeland, but here in America, today is a day of remembrance. I know you didn't mean anything, but its just offensive.

There is no way you could live in the USA. That is just downright mean. The 11th of NOVEMBER?!?!?! This is the most tragic (if you dare prove me wrong I swear I will fucking attack you) event that has ever happened on American soil.
'such a fuss'
Now in other parts of the world this isn't anything major. Here, it fucking is.
That whole post was disrespectful.
Why am I being so harsh? America is my homeland, and I tend to defend it at all costs, even if it is against friends.

Well, Pearl Harbor was pretty bad, thought atleast America won that war that followed.

Pearl Harbor and 9-11 have their differences. Yes, thousands of people were killed at each. However, Pearl Harbor was a military attack. 9-11 was an attack on innocent people. I know, they are both still awful.
At least Pearl Harbor was solved.

The 'welcome to' wasn't meant to be offensive. =/ Apologies.

But yes, at the time I didn't really understand, so it didn't impact me too much. When it was kinda 'explained' to me, I felt pretty remorseful, but still a little confused...

Its allright.
I was in first grade, so I didn't understand it. Once I got older I did. Yesterday it was just hard watching a video clip on it in World History. It was hard to not cry, along with a lot of other people.
In Pre Algebra I suggested we have a moment of silence to remember those who died...
The teacher said 'do it in your own time' like she didn't give a care.

I've got someone in my family who's got a friend that was in that day, sadly. We all hope the best to the families and people who's been involved in this sad tragedy. My kind regards.

I remember waking up and turning on the TV assuming Cheese TV would be on so I can have my weekday dose of Digimon, Pokemon and Dragon Ball Z.

Then when the TV was on I was like "Hmm, must be the wrong channel."

Then I clicked, and everything was the same.

September 11 news.

FYI, Seth McFarlane, the creator and the main voice Actor of Family Guy and American Dad was actually supposed to be on one of the planes that were hijacked. But he missed his flight because he had a hang over and slept in.

Shows that drinking can save your life. And for that matter, a TV Series.

I honestly think people need to move on from this especially for those who don't personally know anyone who died in the attacks. Yeah it was tragic but people die for all sorts of reasons and no one cares about them so what makes this attack so special as compared to the other murders or countless other wrongful deaths that have occurred in the past?

Move on, yes.
Forget, never.

As for it being different from other murders and such, it's not, but that doesn't mean it's right, or doesn't mean people can't still mourn for the people lost. =/

If you didn't personally know anybody affected by the tragedy, then feel free to remember/forget it as you please, (I wasn't personally affected nor did I know anyone in the tragedy), but some people, like family members, may never get over it. I wouldn't deny them their right to remember.

Oh no I never deny those who knew someone to not mourn the loss. You have to move on in your own time when they are ready. You can't get teary eyed over every death that happens as you would never stop crying as someone dies every day in this great big world of ours.

Though I do I am not exactly the most emotional person so I don't get effected by things as much as someone else would.

Umm.. yeah.

I don't know why September 11th was anymore tragic then New Orleans. Millions died there yet the U.S decides to remember the day the 'money' towers were destroyed.. not the destruction of the entire city of New Orleans. Nice.

LOL. Millions?? What are you, like 11? Way to compare a terrorist attack to a natural distaster.

Dumbass.

Okay, I got my death count on the high side, but I'm pretty sure more people died in New Orleans because of an avoidable disaster then the towers.

Mourning 9/11 is a bit hypocritical. Unless your personally affected. For which I'm sorry.

The affect of New Orleans really shouldn't have been as bad as it turned out. I mean, it was going to be bad no matter what, but poor Government support made it even more of a tragedy. :(

It's really sad to compare Hurricane Katrina with something like Black Saturday. Hundreds of people died in Black Saturday, but at least help was there in moments for the survivors, rather than a week. :(

Though even Black Saturday could have gone better with earlier warning signs...

But like SB102 said, you can't really compare Sep11 with Katrina/Black Saturday, considering the later two were natural disasters.
