Condra picked her way through the corn field, her helm under one arm and her sword at her hip. The last of the stalks gave way to her plodding feet and she stepped out into the circular arena. She had two men to kill today. One was a one eyed swordsman. He had a longsword at his hip and was wearing a loose fitting robe. Idiot. Robes are impossible to run in, and they provide no protection against a sword or axe. His one eye also gave him a crippling blind spot. He would be simple to kill. She turned to her other opponent. He was different. Two large wings sprouted from his back, and he wore a leather cuirass and grieves. At his hip he also carried a longsword. While his wings could provide him with flight or extended jumping abilities, they were large targets that could be burned or cut easily.

The warrior mage fit her steel helmet over her head, covering up her brown hair. The helmet did little to limit her view, and it protected the sides and back of her head. At the top a small spike protruded. She stretched her right hand, warming it up before drawing her sword. It was a simple thing, three feet long and only an inch and a half wide made from tempered steel. Simple as it was, it could gut a man just as well as any jeweled or gilded blade.

Condra raised her hand into the air and cupped her fingers. Her palm grew red, and the air itself caught fire within the confines of her hand. She lowered her arm, her hand now holding a small ball of fire. Her hand flipped over and the fire split into two groups, spinning around her skin in a display of sparks and dancing flame. She was showing off. Trying to make her enemies afraid. Sword in one hand, flame in the other, she stalked forwards towards both of her foes. Let the battle begin.

The one eyed gave the battlefield a look of strange contemplation. His long, sandy white hair sprouted in all directions, unkempt, yet well cleaned. The black eye patch that covered his eye was tightly secured, bearing the insignia of his god on it, the twin blades of grass, with a drop of water twixt the two of them. His hand rested on the hilt of his blade, as he hoped silently he would not have to use it against his opponents this day. His open eye shifted from one opponent to the next, taking in what he saw. There wasn't anything there that he hadn't seen before, and so all was well. He's initial trick was already- or so he assumed. Every single thing about him made him appear weak, an easy target, the first person to go, yet he was well aware of the assumptions that many people had made before him. He had perfected this, and he did not think for a moment that he would loose.

His plain white robe billowed slightly as a small draft came about. His robe was connected by a sash, between the upper and lower pieces, in which the lower legs were cut, so finely that each leg could move freely, while giving the impression that he was confined to the elasticity of the robe bottom. Yet now, there was a battle--the woman had began to create a fireball... 'Interesting enough...yet I doubt it will hinder me too much...' he thought to himself, and then there was the strange winged person who was also in this strange arena, amidst the corn. He would have to worry about both, yet this wasn't the first time that Rival, the one eyed swordsman had gone up against challenging foes...

Will moved through the cornfield as quickly as possible, to avoid being attacked from behind. Eventually he drew his sword, ready to fight. He decided to analyze his enemies, seeing as he saw both of them within his line of sight.
One looked like a rather skilled fighter, with a sword and light armor that looked rather strong yet light. However, the other one looked like a total idiot. One eye without any armor, how dumb. One well aimed shot and he was out of it. He had a sword but not a trace of magical ability, the fool. He would certainly die. In fact, he would probably die within a single round of combat. Oh well, that would only leave one enemy. Will raised his sword to the sky, and four concentrated beams of light descended into the sword, and out of sight. Since the sword had magic powers it could contain them. While he only had enough power in the sword for three projectile shots and not enough time to imbue it with more, it could certainly be given more. It would only serve as a way to store the light energy until he wanted to use it, but that would be rather convenient for him. After all, holding onto it at all times might be slightly distracting and more noticeable.

(Treefrog, which of your eyes are covered?)

So Condra was not the only caster here. The winged man seemed adept in the arts of light magic. His sword was a conductor somehow. Very interesting. She would have to watch him carefully. Light magic could be a tricky thing, illusions, blinding, and other dangerous spells. Fire was part light as well, so his magic could cancel her's out someone. Yes, that one would not be taken for granted.

The blind one. He must have some secret. Magic? Maybe. Only a total fool would go into battle like he was. No armor, one eye, and no shield. She and the winged warrior made up for their lack of protection with their magic, yet he had only a sword to help him. He was obviously hiding something. Yet he was also the weakest at first glance, and sometimes first glances can be correct. He could be inhumanly fast, or strong as an orc, but he still had no armor. Besides, cloth catches fire very easily.

The fire in Condra's hand hissed and spit as it doubled in size. The flames reformed, twisting around her palm, fingers, and wrist to form a flaming gauntlet. The warrior mage circled to her left, towards the one eyed swordsman, keeping both of the men in her line of sight. Who would strike first?

The four descending beams grew thicker as they continued to descend into the sword. The battle was just starting, and everyone was trying to work out a plan of action. Certainly an opportune moment to gather energy. Eventually, when the battle seemed ready to begin, he stopped gathering, momentarily trying to feel how much energy he had gathered. After testing it, the sword had 20% of its full storage capacity. That was a fair amount, but he would probably never get another chance like this to charge. It would take a full blast to kill an attacker for sure, and about 40% to launch an attack that was likely to severely wound or kill an enemy. He had enough to support him, but that wouldn't win a fight. It would probably be best to let his enemies weaken each other, but not draw attention to himself. Surely they wouldn't waste their time if they couldn't find him.

Will drew power from his sword, and created 2 orbs of light, which floated around his left hand. It was time to slip away, and let the others fight rather than search for him. Both orbs grew a little big bigger, and Will prepared to make his move. As he closed his eyes, one of the orbs raised and suddenly caused a bright flare, resulting in temporary blindness, as Will quietly jumped and glided into a hiding place, leaving behind an illusion of him still being there. The blindness would last for about 10 seconds, and the image for 30 more, enough time to escape and the others to try to attack. It was rather unlikely that anyone would have enough time to scan the area to find him, or even realize the illusion before attacking. Nevertheless, he prepared a small attack to hold off an attacker until he could get into fighting position should it be needed.

[His left eye from your post...]

As the one-eyed slowly inched away from the approaching woman, he noticed that the winged man was already forming what appeared to be a magical attack. Light, that was his skill, and yet as he saw the huge flare of light appear, his hand flashed up to his face, quickly switching the eye-patch from one eye to the other, changing his range of visibility. The effected eye was now closed, and well protected, while his once protected eye was revealed he could see clearly now the clever ruse that his enemy had created, however just barely. He might not get a chance like this again, and so he unsheathed his sword and charged the fire wielding woman head on. It didn't take long to reach her, seeing that she was already heading in his direction, and he positioned his attack from the inside of the circle, rather than the outside, so that he might have complete visibility. His sword slashed out, aiming for her side...

(What hand is your sword in? I'm guessing its your right for my post)

Only a fool would leave their eyes open upon seeing the orbs. Condra right eye squeezed shut as the flare went off, protecting it from the light. Her other eye could not see the orbs, and was thus not effected. As the light faded away, she saw the one eyed man switching his eye patch from eye to eye. So he had two working ones after all. His maneuver had protected him from the flare, but created a gaping weakness for him as well. With his eye under a patch for so long, the sudden exposure to the noon sun would leave him momentarily blinded, and it would take time for his eye to adjust back to the light.

His sudden charge at her was a foolish move as well. With his eye adjusting to the light, it would have been better for him to wait until he could see properly. He was fast, that was for sure, but that was his downfall now. As he approached, Condra stepped back on her left foot and placed her own sword between her and her foe. He was wielding a longsword, and while she wasn't sure of the exact length, most of them were around three feet in length, same as her blade.

Condra's sword hand sparked as ball of fire sprouted from her fingers. It leaped onto her cross guard and then onto the blade of her sword, stopping a foot away from her hand.

Then the man was upon her. He swung his sword in a deadly arc towards her chest which was facing at the corn. As he began his swing, she stepped towards him on her left foot and stabbed out at his unprotected stomach with her own sword. The bottom on his blade hit against her armor, cutting through the leather and then stopping at the chain links underneath. Leather worked wonders on slashing attacks, and it had caused his sword to lose enough momentum to be stopped by the steel links of her shirt. She would feel that strike later, and it had already begun to bruise, but it had caused no terrible damage.

As Condra's blade darted forwards, the fire leaped from the steel and whistled towards her enemy's upper chest. Dodging backwards would be useless as he would still be scorched, and stepping to her right would trap his blade against her body. A simple attack, yet a restricting one. Perfect.

(Yeah, it's in my right.)
As the image of Will faded away, he watched the battle. So both had found a way to avoid total blindness. Only the one eyed man could have seen him, for closing eyes didn't really help. Perhaps these two would indeed be a challenge. He would certainly have to use his flare attack in a more efficient way from now on. Oh well, his goal was accomplished. He was now free to gather light until he was noticed. It would probably be better to only gather the light in the immediate area as to not draw attention. It might be slower and it would create a small dark spot for a moment yes, but that was far less suspicious(and efficient) than beams of light descending onto a point.

The times in which the one-eyed changed his patch varied from hour to hour, the sun was a common hindrance of his and he was quite used to it--however it was the quick reaction time of the flaming woman that he thrown him off guard, and his one chance to get an easy strike in failed by his lack of proper aiming. 'Damn it all...' he thought quickly as he saw her flaming blade aim form his stomach up to his chest, in which case he finished the arcing motion of his attack, and at the same time spun his body away from the attack that was aimed at him. He leaned in a bit closer to his opponent, quickly raising his left hand, aiming to poke at his opponent's eye with his finger. He could feel the heat of the sword which was now parallel to his own body.

The one eyed man stepped to his right, leaving her sword extended and stabbing at the air. The cornstalks parted as he entered them, hiding his body partly from view. The corn was in season, each stalk containing a rich and heavy parcel of corn. They were strong as well, green and healthy. As the man dodged away, Condra's fire gauntlet on her left hand grew larger, the flame becoming louder, hissing and spitting out embers that fell onto the ground below them. Too bad that they were standing on dirt, as she could have easily ignited a floor of grass and burned her enemies to a crisp. Alas, not everyone was her way.

Yet her foe's move had been perfect. For her. He leaned forwards, brining his chest out of the stalks and extended his arm and fingers, aiming at her face. Condra rolled her head to the side, dodging the roaming fingers. As his arm reached its full extension next to her head, she smashed her head back down onto her shoulder and his hand. She could possibly trap his hand there, and even if she didn't, the steel that encased her skull would cause much harm to his fingers. Possibly a break. Probably just pain.

His sword hung at Condra's side, useless in its current position and his other hand was at her shoulder. The perfect time to strike. Her left hand darted out and the flame around it extended, touching the corn stalks. Gently at first, and then hungrily as the fire caught and began to spread. She directed the parts that were in her range of control towards the one eyed man. His robe would burn easily, and once on fire, he had a clock ticking down to his death. Soon the stalks were around him were blazing.

As her hand moved to ignite the corn, she swung her sword in an arc towards the side of his chest, trapping him between fire and blade. Which would he choose? Time could only tell. Luckily Condra was a patient type.

Perhaps Will had been wrong, he seemed like he would get another excellent chance to charge. It looked like a perfect moment, no one was paying attention to him. Unless he made the impression he was about to finish both of the two off, he would be able to charge without getting noticed. It was even less likely that they would go after him because looking away could mean death. It was probably safe to charge the normal way. But just to be safe, he launched an elongated orb into the sky. It was clearly another flare, and it would be broken should anyone charge him.

'Maybe I was reckless...but I still have plenty of time...' The one-eyed thought, knowing that he had made a mistake the moment that winged man had caused the flare, he should have left himself open...instead he betrayed his original plan. He retracted his hand, and slid backwards pulling himself into the corn field, and out of sight from the attack of fire. The corn was quickly catching around him, but he was certain of one thing: His speed would be far greater.

In the blazing inferno of the flaming corn field, the one-eye had no other option than to discard his robe. He cut the sash first, and then with a few more slashes of his blade he managed to discard the entire garment all together, leaving only his under garments left. He assumed that someone who used fire would know their limits well. He then circled back into the arena, absent of his garb, yet a safe distance from the woman. He was down on one knee, and his sword was in his right hand. He was coughing from all the smoke he had inhaled and he watched carefully... keeping the other winged man in the back of his mind as well. Mistakes were fatal...

(Just as some friendly advice, if you're more specific about your movements and attacks, then its harder for me to exploit your movements by interpreting them wrong. Saying that you slash your sword at my side could mean a lot of things, but choosing specific targets and body parts that you're moving is a lot better)

(Will, I was posting as you posted yourself, but Condra would be unaffected by the flair as she's not looking in your direction. Also, Rival is now pretty deep in the cornfield. As you're in the corn too, it would be near impossible for you to see him)

The man retreated. Wonderful. Condra feared no flame that she could see, as she had direct control over all that was close enough to burn her. Her skin was also almost impossible to scorch. Truly, the man had not made a mistake by charging her, but he had made a mistake by moving into the corn. On the hard packed dirt, her fire abilities served as artillery and a boost to her fist fighting. Yet in the corn, they allowed her to turn the terrain into a field of death.

As her foe vanished into the corn, Condra turned her body and followed. She pushed aside the fire with her mind, clearing a path for her through the blazing inferno. The fire, being feisty, tried to lick against her skin and burn her. She turned it away, whispering quiet thoughts to it. It obeyed. It always did.

Condra's feet picked up pace, her body moving into a run. Her foe's footprints were visible in the loose farming soil. Her sword was at her side, ready to stab out. Then there he was. His own blade was cutting his sash in two, the blade angled downwards. The fire in the corn was too far her to use against him. Her left hand sparked and filled with dancing flame, and her arm shot out, throwing the burning parcel at his chest. He could dodge easily by jumping to either side. After the fire leaped from her fingers, she lunged with her sword at his chest once more. If he dodged the initial fire attack, she would turn her sword in time to strike him after he moved. Jumping to avoid an attack twice in a row was a difficult feat.

Will decided that it was probably a good idea to follow the one-eyed man and try to flush him out somehow, as he was probably wounded. The fire mage probably wasn't paying attention to him, as she was turned the other way, so it was alright to fly; he wouldn't get shot down. He jumped as high as possible and glided in the direction the fire mage was going. His sword was nowhere near fully charged, perhaps at 60%, but that was easily enough for victory in a favorable opportunity. He landed closer to his opponents, ready to fight with whoever decided to attack. The others probably hadn't noticed the orb yet, so it could help later.

He kept low to the ground, and he could see the attacks coming. She was relentless, but it would not grant her victory. He had enough distance to gain ground now. Using his speed over her as an advantage, he propelled himself backwards, still holding onto his sword he could see that something else was coming--the winged man had moved, indeed things were getting sticky and fas. Yet he would not forget his speed, and as he dodged the fire attack he was on his feet and was running, he knew he could outrun both of his opponents. He was light weight, and good with his feet. Turning his back on the flames could have been a mistake, yet if he was hit by the flames, he would simply discard whatever it was that was burning. He ran towards the center of the arena, away from the corn, and he turned to face where his opponent might be coming from. If he was correct, then both of his opponents would be in front of him. He took whatever time he had gained to look around for any tricks that the winged man might have left. There was no room for mistakes....

"So that is what our friend has been doing this entire time...it is quite unfortunate that I couldn't have wounded that fire devil....yet that was from my own foolishness...." he slowly raised his hand up to his face and removed the eye patch. His vision was evening out, now he would fight his very best, for he knew that his opponents would not falter by mere swordplay. His entire focus of skills rested on his pure dedication to his sword.

(Come on man, you dodged the fire, which involves stepping to one side or another, and then I stabbed at your chest. If you're going to avoid every single one of my attacks, please at least include them in your post. And as a general tip, if you didn't say that you were keeping low to the ground in the post that I reacted to, then you weren't low to the ground)

The man was there, then he wasn't. The fire hissed and crackled as it struck the ground. It surged forwards, searching for something to light and burn on. With a crackle of glee, it found a young stalk of corn. Green, tall, flammable. It burned upwards, lighting on the thin stalk and then being suddenly pulled away. The fire complained as Condra grabbed it from its prey and then formed around her left hand. It complained, and then she gave it a sharp look. It was silent.

The one eyed man had...run past her? It was a blur. The fire missed, her sword struck against air, and then her was gone. Somehow, he had managed to slip by fire and steel and then arrive at the circle of dirt once more. And he still had his robe. Fire against naked skin was more deadly then fire against a robe. Robes could be discarded. Skin could burn.

Condra spun on her heel, sword out in front of her and pushed through the corn. The fire had begun to spread. Many stalks had turned black and the ground had a fine layer of soot over the dirt. Wonderful. She might not be hurting her enemies, but the situation couldn't be any better. Her left arm stretched out, calling the fire away from its meal. These ones came faster, they had spent more time with her, they knew her. The fire in the corn slowly died as she walked through it, pulling the flames onto her arm, giving them another home.

Then she stepped into the clearing. Her arm shimmered in its thick coating of flame. The one eyed man was talking. He had someone managed to run straight past the winged man as well. With such speed, he must be tired. His jaunt through the flames and his sprint past his foes. No man, not even one as fast as him, could be in peak condition after that. The warrior mage's fingers twitched. She wanted to run after him, to sink her blade into her skin, but the winged man was between her and him. She took a step back. Better to stay in her own burning turf then to be in the open.

Quietly, Condra stalked through the corn around the circle.

Will saw the situation in front of him. It could potentially work in his favor, if only the one eyed man just stood still and in his sight. Three seconds was all it would take to assure his death.
But wait! Perhaps he had the means to buy himself a few seconds. He had the orb above him, probably forgotten by now. But if he closed his eyes, it might be a bit obvious. He had to make it seem like he was doing something else. Perhaps light deflection around his eyes? That would surely work.
The flare above went off as Will deflected the blast. One may have thought to close their eyes, but few would have been prepared for the orb to flash again 2 seconds later. That could be a good chance! everyone would be blinded for a good ten seconds.
A light beam made its way towards the one eyed man, about as thick as an arm after Will aimed and fired. If it hit, then he would be surrounded by a light barrier for quite some time. Then he would shot a projectile stab and break the barrier, finishing the one-eyed man for good.
((By that I mean if I succeed, that is what I will do.))

Expecting something to come from the closer of the two opponents, yet not having the stamina at the time to really do anything about it, the moment he felt the light increase the swordsman raised his sword over his eyes so that any light that would have reached him would be reflected, yet he had no way to direct the light to the fire wielding woman across the way. He was still in a crouch, not wanting to test the strength in his legs, and not really seeing the need to move, there was only one thing he could think to do. Half blinded as it was, he managed to use his remaining energy to move himself-- that was when the second attack came, and when it did there was nothing he could do about it. He was trapped in the barrier of light that encased him.

His last plan would now go into effect. As he looked back he knew where he had faltered. It would be wrong to call it confidence, he had been out manned from the start and he knew it all to well. Victory would not come by his hands, but only if his opponents could destroy each other. In any case, the clever light tricks against the fearsome assault of the flames... both would be good to contest each other. Yet there was one technique, the master technique of playing possum. It was acute form of seppuku, except it was an illusion of the idea. Before the final attack from the winged man came, the once, one-eyed swordsman raised his sword, and pierced it through his body--in a location where the blade missed all of his internal organs, yet this would only last for so long in till he bled to death. In any case the attack of the winged man hit where his chest would have been, however he fell to the ground before that instance.

It wasn't impossible to believe that he would end his life, the only unfair movement he made failed horribly, yet as he laid down, his hands still holding onto the blade of his weapon, he was still breathing. It hurt, indeed, his face was in the dirt to hide his expression, and if anyone got close enough to find that he was still alive, hopefully, they would be finished by their opponent.

[If that isn't believable, well... I didn't make it up, I got it from the movie hero... he can die if you think it is unfair... either way, I am busy in till Thursday, and this seemed like the best move to make right now...]

(How strong are your projectile shots Will? About as strong as a sword slash?)

The light in front of Condra began to increase rapidly, and as the winged man had tried the same trick before, the fire mage tightly shut as eyes as the first wave of light struck. Her blue eyes opened a second later, searching for any threats as the second flare went of. As the light washed over her face, she clamped her eyes shut tightly. Another second passed. Her eyes cracked back open, half blind and dazzled by the light. She could make of blurry shapes. The winged man closest, and then the one with the eye patch. The winged man wasn't looking at her.

The fire mage's vision began to clear. The winged man was pointing his sword at her other foe. It was time to give this flying thing his first taste of battle. She sprang forwards, legs pumping quickly. She had been saving her energy for most of the battle, and cleared the distance between him and her quickly. Not fast enough to cancel his spell however, and he had trapped the one eyed man in a cocoon of pure light. His sword as back up, aiming at the man's chest. His brow furrowed in concentration. Not looking behind him.

A beam of light shot from the man's sword moments before she was on him. The one eyed one suddenly stabbed himself and fell downwards. Condra stopped paying attention. It was time to kill.

The fire surrounding Condra's arm exploded upwards as she neared within five feet of the man, a torrent of fire spreading out and flying towards the man. It crackled hungrily, leaping through the air and searching for prey. It had eaten corn today, but mere corn would not fill its ample stomach. The fire wanted flesh. It wanted blood.

The steel tip of Condra's sword was right behind the fire, ready to stab out and strike at the man's chest. His leather armor may deflect a slashing blow, but no leather would stand up to a strong stab. His wings would also hinder him here, as it would make it almost impossible to dodge the fire that she had thrown.

(It would be at the same speed as one, but it moves faster than a swung sword.
Oh and Treefrog, considering the situation, you're gonna die from stab wounds pretty quickly since there's no one who could rescue you and you're out in a clear field.)
Will pondered whether to go after the one-eyed man or not, and he quickly decided against it, as the fire mage was probably planning something(not to mention he thought he heard a crackle of fire). He turned around to see a large blast of fire coming in his direction. Damn that blasted woman, she was probably trying to kill him right now. Perhaps if he hadn't attacked the one-eyed man and charged a while longer, both of them would be dead. But as it was, he used up two-thirds of the energy he had collected, and he might have to use a lot of his remaining power to stop the incoming attack. From what he saw before, the fire mage loved to shoot fire and then attack as a combo. He could probably muster enough energy for another light barrier; there would be no energy lost in transition, he didn't have to hold down the one inside, and he could absorb energy from the fire. That was what he would do. He would probably get burned a bit, but with a bit more energy absorbed from the fire(giving a bit more power and a less severe attack), no attack following it, and proper protection, it would seem to be his best course of action. He jumped to the ground, folding his wings on top of his back so that they wouldn't take up too much space, and activated a light barrier. It would shield him from most of the fire damage and the chance of a fatality if the fire mage attacked.

(Due to my crap reading skills, I just realized that you also used a solid light shield/bind on Treefrog. I'll let that slide for now, as he isn't here. But...I'm pulling out the scientific card on you for this recent one. Light is made from photons and energy (heat.) In theory, you might be able to create fire, but the creation of a solid wall made out of light is impossible)

(Oh, and fire is made from heat and light. You can suck the light out for energy, but it will still burn you just as it would before)
