Who to kill, who to kill? Each provided a flammable, healthy feast for the fire, yet, she would not be able to dispatch both of them for it to eat. This round of carnage would come to a halt on the first death. So who would it be? The unnamed swordsman, fast and good with a blade? Or maybe the mysterious stranger, Corem, a mage whose powers remained hidden. Condra stood frozen in place, undecided, while the fire stretched at her leashes and crackled hungrily, eager for a fight. Corem had begun circling to his left, slowly, and then disappeared behind one of the stone pillars. That took him off of the menu. The fire mage could approach him where he stood now, but she had no knowledge of his close ranged abilities. For all she knew, he could paralyze her as she approached with a single touch and then summon a sword in her gut while she was rooted to the spot. No, she would keep her distance from him. Then there was the nameless one. He was hesitating, rocking back and forth on his feet. Then he began to move, slowly to his right and towards the spot where she, Condra, had begun the battle. A smart move, as this took him away from the nearby Corem, as well as her. He seemed to be trying to avoid a fight after his near death experience in their last battle. His sword was gripped in his right hand, his left empty. She could use that. "Don't worry precious, you will eat soon." The fire crackled in anticipation, the burning glove growing in size and creeping up her forearm. "We just have to find your prey." Condra absentmindedly spun her blade around in a wide circle several times, her head facing so that she could see the pillar that Corem was behind as well as the nameless one. He continued walking, meandering behind a pillar and then out again in her field of vision. Her sword stopped moving, and her head twitched back towards he pillar. No movement. Good. As the nameless man was about to pass even with her, Condra's head snapped back, focusing on his torso as her feet began to pound on the wooden floor and her arm brought her blade to her side, pointed out and slightly to the left. The fire swirled around her left arm, painting deadly patterns into the air that burned with such a light that they would be imprinted in a viewers eyes for seconds after. As she drew close to the man, her left arm darted out, the fire leaping into the fray with a hissing burst of joy. It spread out, forming a chest hight serpent of flames that raced towards the wall just in front of the man, cutting off his escape. Her body turned to the side, moving right at the man and delivering a slashing blow aimed at his back with the side of her blade, trapping him between her steel and her flame. |
