Condra picked her way through the corn field, her helm under one arm and her sword at her hip. The last of the stalks gave way to her plodding feet and she stepped out into the circular arena. She had two men to kill today. One was a one eyed swordsman. He had a longsword at his hip and was wearing a loose fitting robe. Idiot. Robes are impossible to run in, and they provide no protection against a sword or axe. His one eye also gave him a crippling blind spot. He would be simple to kill. She turned to her other opponent. He was different. Two large wings sprouted from his back, and he wore a leather cuirass and grieves. At his hip he also carried a longsword. While his wings could provide him with flight or extended jumping abilities, they were large targets that could be burned or cut easily. The warrior mage fit her steel helmet over her head, covering up her brown hair. The helmet did little to limit her view, and it protected the sides and back of her head. At the top a small spike protruded. She stretched her right hand, warming it up before drawing her sword. It was a simple thing, three feet long and only an inch and a half wide made from tempered steel. Simple as it was, it could gut a man just as well as any jeweled or gilded blade. Condra raised her hand into the air and cupped her fingers. Her palm grew red, and the air itself caught fire within the confines of her hand. She lowered her arm, her hand now holding a small ball of fire. Her hand flipped over and the fire split into two groups, spinning around her skin in a display of sparks and dancing flame. She was showing off. Trying to make her enemies afraid. Sword in one hand, flame in the other, she stalked forwards towards both of her foes. Let the battle begin. |
