|Hey Dark Rainians! A couple purely aesthetic changes have been made to the Roleplaying section; no content was changed. For those of you playing in the Casual section, your OOC was simply merged with the other. You'll also notice that there's a shoutbox at the bottom of the board now on a trial basis.|
It's 10 o'clock and I'm debating going to sleep 'cause I was up until 3 AM last night and I'm bored. Could post, but... I was up at 3 AM last night, fuck, I'm not going to post right now. It'd be shit. Look at this post. It's shit. Why? I'm just rambling. Anything I'd write now would be just as rambly just IC.
Anyways, I actually do want to talk about something. This something goes by the name His Majesty's Dragon by Naomi Novik. No idea who she is, but JESUS I love this book. I'm only on page 60 but it's amazing. Her sentence structure is weird but I love the main character, the setting, what I've seen of the lore, everything.
I've been reading this instead of Catch-22. Don't get me wrong, I like Catch, but it's one of those things that I read and feel like I'm missing most of the joke, and even though I like it, I just don't like reading things like that.
Yeah, make sense of that one.
But back to Miss Novik! I stumbled upon three of her books in this series while I was at the library the other day and got them out on a whim. It was actually the third book of the series that caught my eye. Black Powder War. Not anything special of itself, but on the cover there's a bright red dragon curled around a pendant, and in the pendant is an old cannon circa American Revolutionary times.
I saw that and went FUCKING AWESOME so I got them out. The second book is Throne of Jade, nothing apparently special about that one. I anticipate them all being made of win though.
That's all I wanted to say. Not much of a first post but I'm bored and I wanted to say that somewhere and I don't feel like dealing with Facebook.
