Navy

The Navy was a major focus of the previous regime, and the receiver of the majority of military funding and domestic pride. Designs then and today remain of domestic make, often reverse-engineered from the designs used by world naval powers, though defensive policy initiatives have made littoral ships a prime focus of independent development. While once a great industry, most designs used today are dated, and even the newer models already made obsolete by the best available modern designs.

Destroyers
Under Development
Sleipner Class
Draug Class

Battleships
Colossus class

Torpedo Boats
Trygg class

Littoral Ships
Tordenskjold Class
Eidsvold Class
Bjørgvin class

Monitors
Skorpionen Class

Submarines
Casmyn Class (Under Development)
Maddrell Class (Under Development)
AG Class

Other ships
Glommen class
Auk class

Aircraft

Aircraft are primarily of Indusian make, and the result of a shared aerospace initiative in the early 1930s. The Saltusian state offered to test an independent air program in exchange for Idusian aid in outfitting the force, with great success. The program was later replicated by the Idusians, and the Saltusians were permitted to maintain their current production rates for domestic use.

Fighters
Fiat CR.32
Fiat G.50

Bombers
Fiat BR.20
Savoia-Marchetti SM.79
Savoia-Marchetti SM.81
Breda Ba.65

1940 Saltusian Naval Initiative

In April of 1940, the Saltusian government entered in a partnership with the Holy Idusian Kingdom, called by the Ministry of Defense the Saltusian Naval Initiative. Unnerved by the status of the aging Saltusian fleet with respects to other developed naval powers, Admiral Digory Baird and Minister Jacob MacÀidh worked hard to convince President Ó Cairre to begin the project. It was authorized on April 24th, and the Holy Idusian Kingdom was sought out as a partner.

The agreement established the Kione-keaynIsland Harbor Facility, a military facility on Kione-keayn Island, in the far north of the Saltusian mainland. The base was built over the location of an older facility that dated to colonial times in 1850, but which was closed down in 1920, one of the first acts of the Integralist regime. The base was reopened and given over to the Idusian Kingdom to use as a naval facility on Australmaria. The harbor is adapted to the needs of submarines, though as many as seventeen surface ships may be anchored effectively. Nearby, construction began on a second facility that would be under Saltusian authority. This facility will be composed of several dozen dry docks, and suited for the construction of naval vessels. It is expected to be complete in 1942. For now, however, only four exist in Kione-keayn Harbor.

The island is home to seventeen families on the far side, which live in the village of Kayclagh. The families are not permitted to travel to the southern half of the island, which has hurt their capability to graze. A few hundred acres of existing farmland was seized by the government in their partition of the island. The government has offered compensation to all civilians on the island who wish to leave in the form of free land and home on the mainland, but has promised not to force the issue.

The broad purpose of the facility is to house several ship construction projects. For the foreseeable future, many naval engineers from both Saltusland and Idus will work on the island designing new types of submarines - part of a broad strategic shift by the Saltusian state towards these vessels as capable counters to large, and expensive, surface fleets, and through Idus, a major component of their commitment to the Idusian fleet's combat capability against maritime rivals.

Below is a list of all ships currently undergoing construction, and their specifications. (Not exhaustive).
