Show Title: As Days Go By Character/Actor: Melissa Jannings (played by Lisa Trusel) Scene: Episode 377 Monday, May 19 Back in the waiting room, Marlena and Melissa have arrived to be with the Hortons. Maggie embraces with her daughter and good friend. Melissa asks where Sarah is, and Maggie says that she and Frankie are flying home now. Melissa hopes Sarah will make it home before it’s too late. Melissa excuses herself to go inside to see her father one last time. Melissa thanks Mickey for taking her in as a child and raising her as his own. He is the best father any daughter could ever have. Back in Salem, Doug has finally arrived and enters Mickey’s room with Maggie, Melissa and Marlena. When he learns that Julie is in the chapel praying, Doug decides to go be with his wife. Melissa and Marlena stand in the background as Maggie shares one last final moment with Mickey. Taking his hand, Maggie recalls several special moments in their lives together including their first meeting at the farmhouse in Brookeville, the time Mickey gave her the red shoes, they’re first dance together after Maggie’s legs recovered, several moments with Melissa and Sarah. Suddenly, Maggie feels Mickey’s hand tighten around hers, giving her hope. Unfortunately, the time they all feared has arrived and Mickey flat lines. Maggie breaks down by his bed as Marlena and Melissa comfort her. Marlena and Melissa pull Maggie up from the ground and hold onto her for the strength that she needs right now. Sarah and Frankie have arrived at the hospital and frantically ask a nurse to guide them to Mickey’s room. The nurse points in the direction Melissa is walking from. The look in Melissa’s eyes says it all as Sarah stumbles backwards into Frankie’s arms as she cries. Melissa comforts her little sister with Frankie’s help. |
