I have started to give Target gift cards. It sounds sort of impersonal but I know for sure that the teachers love them. I usually have the kids make a card for their teachers so that does add a personal touch. (a side note - one of my class moms just sent a secret note to the parents. She is collecting money from who ever is willing and will be getting a gift card for the mall....) |

When I worked in schools as a teacher asst I really enjoyed the gift cards(especially one that could be used at any store in the mall) and movie tickets and personalized stationary. Gift cards were great because you could get what you want and I loved going to the movies in the summer. Adding a special card from the children was great. Once a little boy gave me a book from his personal collection that he wrote his name in. That was sweet. I will say I did get a BIG basket filled with some great gifts once...from Janet and Wayne Gretzky and I still use the BIG basket today in my bathroom for our towels...but none of us has the budget that they do. |

I ended up doing a crossstitch things this year. I did a pinwheel daisy welcome sign. It just so happened that Gwem's teacher's neice is named Daisy. She just bought a new house and a lot of it is in daisy's So I did one for Daisy's teacher (who is getting married this summer and also just bought a new house) and one for Gwen's teacher. I just did different colors. I was going to do cookies for the aids but I ran out of time. I've done walmart gift cards before too, but I like the personal touch more. Both teachers seemed to love the gift cards though. I've heard a lot of teachers say they like the popcorn buckets with all they need for a home movie night too. Other years I've done pampering items in a gift bag and for Daisy's preschool teachers one year I did a pot with some daisy flower seeds. Edited by Sarah, Jun 11 2008, 09:11 PM.
