Description: Depending on the location of the Greek Tortoise its coloring on the shell can vary greatly from green spots to a solid golden color.
Scientific Name: Testudo graeca
Lifespan: Up to 50 years
Average Size: 8 to 10 inches
Origin: Europe and North African

Feeding
The Greek Tortoise will need a diet that is low in protein but high in fibre to keep it healthy. Plants that are leafy and dark in color are the best to feed to these tortoises. Many tortoise owners like to use commercial cat or dog food for tortoises but these are dangerous because they are way too high in protein to be healthy.

Habitat
Lighting: The Greek Tortoise will need a light source consisting of UVA and UVB light rays.

Physical Design: In general aquariums may be easiest to use for a turtle or tortoise but they do not provide the necessary air circulation that they require. An enclosure that has screened sides makes a much better habitat.

Size: The minimum size of the enclosure for these tortoises is about 2 feet by 4 feet.

Substrate: Packed soil is the best substrate to use for Greek Tortoises.

Temperature: Greek Tortoises like to bask so you should provide them with an area in which they can bask that is about 95 degrees F. The remainder of the habitat should provide a heat gradient with the coolest spot at 75 degrees F.
