"I'll activate a trap card. Phoenix Wing Wind Blast, discarding my Treeborn Frog, on your face down monster."

Kabuto grinned.

"Now then, I'll draw and activate Treeborn's effect. I'll special summon him to the field in defense position, and tribute him to summon my Raiza, the Storm Monarch."

Kabuto watched helplessly as Billie activated the counter trap Forced Back, sending Raiza back to his hand.

"Minor setback. You are playing quite well so far, Miss Hatcher. Your turn."

Billie drew her Harvest, Angel of Wisdom once again.

"I summon Harvest!" she called out, playing her monster. "Now I attack your facedown monster!"

Harvest dashed towards the monster, a Spirit Reaper.

Billie could do nothing except helplessly pass.

This duel was going quite smoothly. He could tell he was attaining the advantage.

"My turn, I'll draw and special summon Treeborn in defense, tributing it for my Raiza again. Now I will activate its effect to put your spell or trap card onto the top of your deck. Now I will attack your Harvest Angel."

8000/7400

A wide open field. Shouldn't be too tough now.

He watched Billie put Forced Back into her hand because of her Angel's effect.

Suddenly, all of the holograms in the store disappeared, and the lights on both of the duelists' duel disks went out.

"How odd. It appears our disks have shorted out. They must have been connected somehow, and that connection shorted them out. I hear the only way to fix this kind of thing is to wait it out for the re-charge system to kick in."

His first duel, and he didnt even get to complete it.

"Well my offer still stands. May I buy you some ice cream, Miss Hatcher?"

Kabuto wasn't quite sure what to think.

Billie looked down at her duel disk. She looked disappointed.

"Yeah, we can go get ice cream if you want." she said, glumly.

He could tell she was disappointed.

"I'm sorry about the duel. But come on, I'll make it up to you!"

Ice cream was never really her favourite, but she couldn't turn down a generous offer from a man just trying to be her friend.

"Let's go."

(GDY) Great Duelist Yanuan
'What the hell? A duel disk failure at a time like this? And the duel was starting to turn out alright.'
Yanuan then breathed a small sigh.
'Well, I guess I'm going to have to wait until later to find out how good these first years are.'
He then smiled as the two first years left for some ice cream.
'Even though the duel was stopped early by a technical difficulty I'd say that the crop of new students this year have some good potential. Looks like this is going to be one interesting year.'
While straightening out his sunglasses and stretching his head to the side, Yanuan slowly walked forward leaving the Card Shop.
'Hmm... The blue called that yellow girl "Miss Hatcher" but I don't know the blue's name. Heck I haven't even told them my name. Well guess I can ask em later.'
