Beware the TBC...
|
Name: Kortan, Luthien Vladmir Age: 18 Dorm: Yellow Grade/Year: 2nd Gender: Male Race: Eastern European Height: 6" Weight: 150lbs Eye Color: Green Hair Color: Black Personality: Loner likes to stay in the background away from attention. Defining Characteristics: A thin scar decorates Luthien’s right hand and follows the arm all the way to the elbow. The knuckle from which the scar leaves is out of place, slightly farther forward then it should be, and the ring finger in front of it does not close into a fist completely. Physical Appearance: Luthien’s dark hair is cut short, barely longer than an inch. His emerald eyes pierce out from behind a heavy brow. Clean and proper with an air of sophistication, there is a suspicious look of age to his clothing. Luthien’s long black shirt is accented by rich points at the cuffs and collar, where it sticks out past his school jacket. A crimson belt keeps his pants tight defining a slim waistline. When not required to wear his dorm jacket Luthien prefers a long dark cloak, pieces of its tattered end just kissing the heels of his boots. Its black exterior is accented by soft lines of crimson staining its length. His boots are held tight to his legs by 3 silver buckles each spaced equally over the ebony leather from ankle to mid shin. A silver chain hangs from Luthien’s neck, inscribed on the face, of the amulet at the end of the chain, in flowing Russian are the words “Death liberates us from the chains of life”. The amulet is decorated on the reverse with an image of a knight staring up at a dragon. Known Relatives: None Biography: The one who saw all, I will declare to the world, The one who knew all I will tell about He saw the great Mystery, he knew the Hidden: He recovered the knowledge of all the times before the Flood. He journeyed beyond the distant, he journeyed beyond exhaustion, And then carved his story on stone. * Luthien had heard the legends, he knew the stories well, and they fascinated him. The great hero Nemequ had conquered the lands and founded the kingdom of Uruk. The greatest city ever built by the hands of man. Nemequ was no normal King and his supernatural powers only began with his parental heritage. Nemequ was said to have been 2 parts god, although his true power was his ability to control the spirits of the dead. He was a brutal king, fascinated with the dead; he often had his citizen’s murdered to fuel his undead legions. As his travesties grew, his people prayed to the gods, surely they would save their people from their bastard child. Eventually the Sky-God Anu intervened though he could not kill Nemequ, who had mastered death. Seeking balance Anu created Enkidu to serve as the subhuman rival to the superhuman Gilgamesh. Enkidu was said to have had the strength of 20 rabid bears, was wild and feral, an unstoppable fury of nature. However upon discovery of Enkidu, Gilgamesh ordered one of his priests to offer herself sexually to the wild man. If he submits to her, the scriptures told, he will lose his wildness. And so the priestess Shamhat, fearing a fate worse than death, went into the forest seeking Enkidu. And so she offers herself to him and he, with no control and only instinct, submits to her. Instantly Enkidu loses his wildness, but, as the priest who read the scriptures to Gilgamesh carefully omitted, and his strength and instead gains understanding and knowledge. And so the balance is created, Gilgamesh with the power to destroy life, and Enkidu with the knowledge to maintain it. Thus when Enkidu is returned to the city by Shamhat, Gilgamesh has him brought to his throne. Gilgamesh gives Enkidu an ultimatum, demonstrate his strength and prove his loyalty, or join the legions of the dead. Enkidu concedes and through his great wisdom is able to fool Gilgamesh, who then welcomes him with open arms. As the years past Enkidu searched for a way to slay Gilgamesh, not an easy task considering his power. Enkidu is able to move closer and closer into the confidence of Gilgamesh and vastly improves the life of the people of Uruk through his influence. Enkidu travels the lands in the name of Gilgamesh, commanding his armies. Through his travels Enkidu gains greater and greater knowledge. Eventually Enkidu learns of the source of Gilgamesh’s power. Realising the terrible fate of all those under the influence of it, Enkidu prays to the god Anu. Father, let me have the Bull of Heaven To kill Gilgamesh and his city. For if you do not grant me the Bull of Heaven, I will pull down the Gates of Hell itself, Crush the doorposts and flatten the door, And I will let the dead leave And let the dead roam the earth And they shall eat the living. The dead will overwhelm all the living! Anu, realising that the death of Gilgamesh would upset his balance, refuses Enkidu’s plea. And so Enkidu traveled to Hell, and tore down its gates. Allowing all of the demons trapped within to roam the lands. However his journey cost him greatly and in a dream, a great demon comes to take Enkidu and drags him to Hell, a House of Dust where all the dead end up. When he awakens Enkidu realises that he no longer needs a breath to sustain him. Commanding his armies Enkidu returns to Uruk, with the power to destroy Gilgamesh. Enraged with Enkidu’s betrayal Gilgamesh murders the remainder of his people and brings his own undead armies to battle Enkidu. The battle rages for years, time and death having no meaning for either side. Finally the gods intervened, using a powerful ritual they encased all those who remained into stone tablets. The gods shook like beaten dogs, hiding in the far corners of heaven, Anu screamed and wailed: "The days of old have turned to stone: We have decided evil things in our Assembly! Why did we decide those evil things in our Assembly? Why did we decide to destroy our people? We have only just now created our beloved humans; We now destroy them in the sea!" All the gods wept and wailed along with him, All the gods sat trembling, and wept. And so two thousand years before the reign of the pharaohs of Egypt the land of Uruk, on the plains beside the river Nile, was destroyed. And all the demons and shells of its former inhabitants were in cased in stone. And the only knowledge of this time lay carved on a stone by the hero Enkidu after his dream. Luthien had seen and read the stone himself. He had known the power of the undead from an early age. His family was one of power and influence and had acquired the stone generations ago from an archaeological dig. He had grown up under the instruction of his mother. He had learned the art of duelling at an early age. Originally indoctrinated in the use of fairies by his mother, he had dropped them in favor of a deck inspired by the legends written upon the stones that he had found in the mansion cellars. As he grew his affinity for duelling grew and soon no one could match him in local area. There was not much competition in Moscow at this time and soon his parents decided it would be best if he went to where the greatest duelists trained. And so he stood, waiting to board the family jet to fly to the Crimeson Wind Academy, he looked upon the other stone recovered on that same dig. Upon it, locked in mortal combat were two men who were not men. One stood tall and powerfully while the other was shrunken and weak, yet they were perfectly and evenly matched. And as he stood staring with constant admiration at its depiction he fingered two cards from his deck, the Zombie Master and the Decayed Commander. He still wasn’t sure, which he would rather have been... *This paragraph is not my work. It is an exert from a text which was written in Sumerian on clay tablets. These writings grew into poems and eventually the story of King Gilgamesh, king of Uruk in 2700BC (Around the same time Hammurabi created his infamous code of law in Sumer.) **Side note: When I have the time I will bring more details of Luthien’s past into the bio. For now, I’ll leave it at this and update it at a later date. Contact Information: lkliveson@hotmail.com AIM: LuthienKort Edited by Luthien, Oct 12 2008, 12:53 AM.
