Name: Zazamarou Ryu (pronounced ZAH-ZAH-MAH-ROO RAI-OOH) Age: 17 Dorm: Slifer/Osiris Red Grade/Year: 1st Gender: Male Race: American, Caucascian Height: 6'0" Weight: 180 lbs. Eye and Hair Color:  Personality: Ryu's personality envelops a variety of things. He is very wise, but at the same time has a great sense of humor. He loves to have fun and hang out, but also knows when its time to knuckle down and get serious. Dueling wise, Ryu is all about fun and challenges. If he isn't enjoying himself or doesn't feel like he's being pushed hard enough, he tends to feel that he may be boring his opponent. Ryu, in short, simply loves to duel to the fullest of enjoyment as possible and tries to get everyone he knows to do the same. Defining Characteristics: Ryu's only defining characteristics are his deep red hair, piercing teal eyes, and up-beat personality. Physical Appearance: Ryu is your typical, average teeneager appearance-wise. He wears a simple teal t-shirt underneath his standard Academy Jacket, which ruffles out at the bottom (like Judai's in GX's fourth season). He also wears gray cargo pants and the standard Academy boots. Being the tinkerer that he is, Ryu has designed and built his own Duel Disk, known as a Blade Disk, which he wears on his right arm (see below). Always prepared, Ryu keeps 4 Decks inside his jacket, each one with a different theme and stratagey.  Known Relatives: Father - Raijin (Kaiba Corp. Technology Expert) Mother- Mei Ling (stay at home mom) Brother - Ichigo (Minor League Duelist; college student) Uncle - Hashi (card designer for Industrial Illusions) Biography: Ryu was born in raised in the Midwestern United States, and all the while Duel Monsters has been a part of his life. His father works for Kaiba Corp. and his uncle works for Industrial Illusions, the first being the creator of the standard Academy Duel Disk and the second being a card designer. As a result, he became exposed to not only the game itself, but the technology behind it. As he grew, he became more and more interested in learning how to build the devices his father made. He worked extra hard in school, learning as much as he could. As a result, dueling became very important to him, and his whole family noticed. After much preparation, he was sent to the Academy, ready and willing to learn as much as he could. Although very intelligent and a quick learner, Ryu has trouble putting his ideas in a way that is simple to understand, causing him to do poorly on the entrance exam. Along with that, at the dueling portion of the exam, he confused his procter when he claimed he was more concerned with having fun than actually winning, even when it meant he might not make it in to the Academy. Even so, he passed well enough to make into the Red Dorm. Unphased by the social order of the Academy, Ryu would without hesitation take on nearly anyone for a duel, regardless of rank or dorm. Personally, Ryu enjoys messing with technology almost as much as he enjoys dueling. He likes to toy around with his Duel Disk, always attempting to make it better and cooler looking than before. It is his personal goal to not only be the best duelist he can be, but to also revolutionize the way all duelists play the game.
