Known Relatives: None Biography: Johan is a new student hailing from North Academy who enters Duel Academy in the third year. Invited along with his fellow champions from around the world by Samejima, he was most secretive of his identity, even with those he was supposed to be traveling with. Although he did not board the ship that was to take the champions to their final destination, Amon Garam expected that Johan would appear once they reached Duel Academy. Similar to Judai Yuki, Johan has possessed the ability to communicate with Duel Monster spirits since he was a child. His spirit partner is Ruby Carbuncle, whom he affectionately nicknames "Ruby". Although Ruby is seen most frequently by his side, Johan considers all his monsters a part of his "family", for they themselves selected him as their master. He is chosen by Professor Cobra to duel Judai in the first exhibition match of the third year, and the two are unknowingly fitted with Bio-Bands. As the battle progressed, Johan revealed the name of the most powerful Crystal Beast: Rainbow Dragon. Defeated by Judai, he confessed that Rainbow Dragon had not yet been made into a card by Industrial Illusions, and that he wished to find the Roman lithograph from which the concept of his Crystal Beasts was derived in order for Pegasus Crawford to finally create it. Dueling Deck: Johan plays a Rainbow deck, composed of legendary Gem Beast monsters based on seven precious gemstones collected from around the globe for the construction of a lithograph as evidence of Julius Caesar's reign during the time of the Roman Empire. On its return trip, the ship carrying the stones was battered by a storm, and the treasures disappeared into the depths of the ocean. Employing this concept, Pegasus specially designed and created the Gem Beasts, which have the unique ability to retreat in a crystallized (Continuous Spell) form to their controller's Spell/Trap Zones when destroyed as means of avoiding complete annihilation. Due to the exclusivity of the cards, Manjoume Jun's family once attempted to purchase them using all its assets, but Pegasus instead awarded them to Johan at the end of a regional tournament. Under Yubel's influence, Johan uses an Advanced Gem Beasts deck. The deck uses the field spell Advanced Dark to negate battle damage while discarding Gem Beasts to the Graveyard in order to quickly summon Rainbow Dark Dragon. Johan appeared in a room that seemed to be blocked from the outside, Johan began to look around the room as he coughed from the smoke that had engulfed the room from an unknown location as he tried to think of a way to get out of the room. "I wonder...what would Judai do in this situation..." After pondering for a moment he let his duel disk open up as he pulled the top card from his deck and slammed it to his duel disk. "Come on out Gem Beast Topaz Tiger!" After successfully summoning the proud tiger that same very tiger looked back towards Johan as it spoke aloud. "Well you seem to be in a bad situation Johan...what are we going to do first?" Johan grinned towards Topaz Tiger as he grew a smile on his face. "Well I figured that...since this isn't our dimension you might be able to do things for real just like that other dimension...so Topaz could you break the wall?" Johan said this feeling a bit silly about the whole thing, however Topaz Tiger nodded as it lept towards one of the walls and attacked the wall as it seemingly broke as Johan smiled in excitement. After the wall had been broken Topaz Tiger faded and Johan moved through the hole in the wall as he looked about, he had no idea where he was the only thing he remembered was sending everyone back home after he released the power of his Rainbow Dragon. However Johan had already moved ahead as he looked from side to side of the corridor he was in, after contemplating which direction he should head in he headed in his chosen direction as he ran along the corridor, the only thought on his mind was returning to his world and being reuniting with his friends. However after eventually leaving the building Johan had been in he came face to face with an isolated landscape, this place was defiantly another dimension and it was a place that was defiantly going to change him, what he didn't know was Yubel was lurking behind the scenes awaiting for his arrival.
