Don't think this is merely a game...your life is on the line.
Thanks to the shortcut through the forest, it only took a few minutes of walking to reach the island restaurant. The place was packed as usual, with a line of students reaching out the door. It was to be expected though; the food, though simple, was of an even higher quality than that served at the Obelisk dining hall. If that wasn't enough, there were always plenty of daily specials that were easy on the wallet...a HUGE bonus to those in the Osiris and Sebek dorms, seeing as they were the ones that needed such assistance most of all.

Bypassing the lines, Nanayo proceeded directly to the kitchen. Inside, an atmosphere of controlled chaos greeted her as roughly eight cooks scurried about cooking and plating the numerous orders that were being called back. A man in a simple white shirt and black pants ensemble came rushing in, stopping only to place the order he had been given, before pouring several drinks and rushing back out the door.

"Seems like it's business as usual today." she said, grinning at the fruits of her handiwork. It was well known around the campus that she was the reason that the restaurant had come to be in the first place, after all.

Upon hearing her voice, the cooks sprang to attention, greeting her in unison.

"Good afternoon, Miss Shingetsu!" the group shouted, before returning to their duties. Rumors of the hellish training she put aspiring cooks through floated about...and for the most part they were true. However, despite being a tough employer to work for, one would seldom find one more fair. After all...if one produces quality work, then they should be compensated as such.

At least...that''s what her father had taught her.

Walking out back to the office, Nanayo found the manager she had put in charge busy counting the profits from the breakfast rush. Judging by the stacks of currency strewn about on the desk...they must have made a killing. Noticing her entrance the manager, a middle-aged woman with light brown, stood up and bowed politely.

"Oh! Good afternoon, Miss Shingetsu! I had heard you returned early this morning...how was your trip?" said the manager, smiling warmly.

"It was good. Father's doing well...though he's still as clingy as ever. You'd think that we'd been separated for decades." Nanayo said with a chuckle. "So...how've things been running? Any problems?"

"Everything's been fine. Well...ALMOST everything..." the manager began. "One of the instructors came in last night reeking of booze. Things were going fine until he tried grabbing one of the waitresses...she screamed and ran, he chased after her, tripped, and slammed face-first into one of the registers. It hasn't worked since..."

"Oh? Which one?"

Following the manager out of the office, stopping only to lock the door behind them, Nanayo walked with her out to the lobby. Coming to a stop in front of one of the cash registers, a new model with a touch screen monitor, seemed undamaged for the most part.

"All right...everything looks fine. What's the problem?" Nanayo inquired, tapping a few of the buttons on the screen. It was then the issue became apparent. "...I see. The screen's just frozen from the shock of the impact. Not a problem."

Getting down on one knee, she began fiddling with several of the wires hanging down underneath the unit...

"..That should do it."

Nanayo turned off the monitor, then rebooted it. Flickering slightly, the device beeped and hummed through the various startup screens, before returning to the main menu. Tapping on a few of the buttons, several different windows popped up.

"There! Good as new." She said, content with her work. Closing out the windows, she returned the register to standby mode.

Looking out the main window, Nanayo noticed that it was still raining out. In fact...it was coming down even worse than before. Truth be told...it was her favorite type of weather.

"...I wonder what it's like down by the beach."

Imagining the waves crashing against the sand...the biting rains cascading down from overhead...the bolts of lightning splitting the sky...the thought of taking a walk through it all was just too enticing for words. Well...maybe not to most sane, normal people, but it certainly was to her.

Bidding farewell to the manager, Nanayo grabbed an umbrella from the back office and set out. What good the umbrella would do in a storm like this was debatable...but it was better than nothing, right?
