Posts: 4,342 Group: Obelisk Blue Member #11 Joined: Feb 1, 2008	Some of the our members may not feel... quite enough recognition for their attempts at this site, or may feel it's a waste or may in some way feel under appreciated. I propose a "member of the month" type of poll. Simple enough, a fun little "Member of the Month" selection type thing to occur... once every month, duh. It gives the smallest bit of recognition to members who have really shone during the previous month. It should work simple enough. A brief one or two day nomination period, a brief 2 or 3 days to vote, and then at the end they have their name added to the portal, or the bottom of the main page, or something. Of course, other concessions can be made along the way, if needed. If we ever get a huge amount of members, divide them accordingly by ranks and such. Perhaps a bigger poll at the end of the year? Favourite plotline? Favourite thread? Some kind of little... fun... award show thing. It builds a better sense of community, as well as showing appreciation to some who may feel under appreciated. (Lulz, Billie needs a thesaurus. <_<)

The new question is: do we start a member of the month now, or at the end of the month? And if we start now, will the member of the month be for October or November? Does it even matter?

On the one of the other sites I've been on, we have a member of the fortnight, which is someone who's been active and particularly helpful over the past couple of weeks. Ultimately, it lies up to the staff to decide (so it doesn't just become a popularity contest), but members can nominate people. Awards shows are fun and some awards can get utterly ridiculous. If we do one of those, we could have stuff for RP-related ideas (ie, best character, best thread) and OOC stuff (like best nickname or something). If someone is good with graphics and willing to help out on that front, the member of the month could also get a cool little button to go in their signature or something.
