As I recall, the current method of using everything on a case for case basis does work, however I propose a more... standardized way to gauge things. This is not to say I have a standard gauge, and we should use it, however I recognize a standard for what is punishment for what infraction does need to be made. And while I recognize going about things in a case by case manner is how things have been done before, it can escalate to bigger problems of inconsistency. "Billie's post just gets deleted, yet I get a warning?! What gives?" Create a standard and attempt to stick to it. Not because of any past or present problem, but to prevent future problems in the future. Something like, minor verbal warnings and such for flaming and trolling on the chat. Suspension of chat privileges for a certain length of time (kicks, bans, etc) depending on the infraction (And actually sticking with that standard, making it a permanent part of the rules.) Of course, actual and factual numbers are entirely up to debate, but overall this gets the general idea into the ether, gets people to think about things, etc etc. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. |

I prefer the ambiguous system because then we don't have to punish you guys for every little thing. I'd rather be merciful than just. If you want a more clear-cut rules system that I can ignore, then I'm sure I can dig it out the suggestion topic out of the Staff Forum for you. |
