The amount of time that it takes to RP out a scene can vary, based on a number of factors. These include things such as activity, drive to RP, amount of RPing to be done, and other factors. However, the fact of the matter is that most of our settings seem to be running over, most of the time. While our setting system provides for much more realism than on any other forums I’ve been on in the past, it still has several tweaks that need to be made.

While the debatable time thing is a decent idea, perhaps we went about this the wrong way. Maybe setting a time when everything should be done by wasn’t the correct course of action, in the sense that it does not offer much real flexibility. While this was meant to encourage people to RP more frequently, it has not been the case, and thus, topics have simply been running over. Rather than having this, I think that another change is in store.

To rectify this dilemma, I purpose that we have individuals who monitor the RP, and who watch for topics to end. When the topic ends, they determine if the character would have time remaining for the setting they’re currently in, or if it would be plausible for the character to move to another setting. This would, of course, accompany the more rigid frame, however it implies that we make the setting times in days, rather than in setting periods of the day.

This would allow a bit more flexibility, as topics would likely run over less often, and it would allow for more time for the RPers to work. Furthermore, it would also allow a lot more freedom for the RPer to choose what it is that they want to do, whether it is to skip immediately to the afternoon setting, or to start in the morning setting like they normally would. I feel that this would greatly benefit both the RP, as a whole, if it were implemented.

I rather like this idea, if I'm reading it correctly.

To clarify, you are suggesting to extend the time frame (to, say, 2 weeks rather then 1) and the person decides how they spend their time RPing, correct? If one thinks their morning activities are most important, spend a majority of their 2 weeks on morning posts, if action takes place in Afternoon, etc etc?

Is that accurate?

Yeah, basically. Only a bit longer than 2 weeks, of course. That way we provide adequate time for all of it, and for more than one topic, should the person so choose.

You mean this?

This is out of the Staff Forum, by the way.

That does sound similar to our own thinking, and... yeah it would be appreciated if the issues of time could be addressed in a timely manner (lolpuns <_<)

I'm assuming it can be implemented as earlier as the coming Setting, which, by all rights, should've officially begun. But with the requests going on, I assume it had some impact on the RPs, so I'll ask everyone, in another topic, what you all want to do.

EDIT:

In the meantime, let's decide how long the new "Day" Setting will universally last, if we do it this way.

Rou suggested a bit more than two weeks, which, I'll go out on a limb and assume "3 weeks." I, personally, would prefer 4 weeks, as it's more likely to complete 2 back-to-back stories. But in either case, the "debate" thing we had would still be in effect, I'd figure, to adjust the length if need be.

What about you, guys? How long should an entire day be, if we do this?

3 or 4 weeks, I'd say. It might be easier just to do it by month, though.

But what I'd like to try is to have more days go by, and have less things happen per day. A 2 week day might speed up the flow of the RP tremendously, without inconveniencing too many members who post slower.

Actually, I think that a 2 Week Day would be excessively fast. I can see a lot of threads being dumped into CWA RP if we do that. A 2 Week Day practically ensures that any thread with more than two people in it will never finish.

Aoi's right. I was thinking something more along the lines of a month - a month and a half. That time frame seems like it would be loose enough to accomodate everyone's needs, while still completing things within a bit of a more timely fashion. A month is the one I'm leaning most toward, since it seems like it would be the fastest way to progress things, while still providing a goodly amount of time for people to complete their topics.

Seriously though, Dani. Two weeks? I doubt that many of us could finish two person topics in two weeks, much less class topics and such, while still offering for more time for other experiences. Two weeks is so unrealistic.

Question 1: So are there any further suggestions for length?

Question 2:
If not - should a poll be conducted with the following?

Potential Poll:

When our Morning, Afternoon, and Evening Settings are replaced with full Day Settings, how long should each Day Setting initially be?

2 Weeks
3 Weeks
4 Weeks
1 Month (beginning of month to end of month[?])
6-7 Weeks (1.5 Months[?])
