A quite smirk decorated the white haired girl's face, a weak tremble and wavering upon it were the only indication of the inner turmoil she felt. Sure, she had grown a lot in a short amount of tme, from a scared little girl in a completely different and unfamiliar world to a strong, confident young woman, but there was one thing she still wasn't so sure about it. And there he stood, five foot something, a simple smile etched on his perfectly sweet face. And even though he never dressed too fancy or too flashy, his clothes were still perfect just because it was him. Billie herself was rather dressed down as well. A simple short sleeve white shirt with a small blue stripe at the waist, coupled with a simple knee length white skirt. "Today's our last day on the trip." (OOC: I think... <_<) She smiled, brushing a long strand of hair from her face, so she could see him better, and of course so he could have a better look of her. "Well, I just finished adding quarters to the washing machine in the basement..." Because it was their last day, and it would be rather... unwholesome to pack up dirty, smelly clothing in their luggage and wash it at the academy. "We've got about an hour or so..." She took a seat in a wooden chair facing the window of the lobby. "It's been a really fun week..." she began, trying to get a conversation going. |

Dante was standing in the lobby, waiting for Mina, but it woulkdn't be long before he sat his lazy self down. Sure enough, when she entered, his bottom found the seat, and he sighed heavily. "Ugh, laundry. This work is all too exhausting." In truth, he had conned Mina to doing all the work, from loading the baskets, to taking them up and down the stairs, to loading and unloading the machines, well... all of it. Dante was exhausted just watching her. As she spoke, he considered, and smiled fondly at the memories. "Yeah... I suppose it was." And so it had been. Looking over the week, there were quite a few laughs, and what drama there was had been surpassed easily enough... or rather, he thought it had been handled relatively well, on most parts. From updates he had heard elsewhere, there were a few parties to be concerned about, but in general, things were looking okay. The short duelist glanced at the clock, sighing as he got more comfortable. He looked out the window, seeing the sun through the clouds, and squinted against it, looking back. "Really, only an hour left?" He puffed out a sigh in what was almost a whistle, and looked back at Mina. "Well, there's hardly any point in letting an hour go to waste waiting, eh?" He smiled at her in a nonchalant, passive sort of way, and raised a hand as if to show he was just throwing ideas around. "Why not go out and use the hour? I mean, we've gotta get to the boat anyway... Why not see if there's anything to do on the way?" He dropped his arm, not botherign to get up unbless she agreed, or else found a better idea. "The weeks been great so far, y'know? Whuddya say the two of us make it just a little bit better?" |

Her face turned the slightest tinge of pink as he began speaking. Sure, they had hung out a thousand times before, but now things felt much more... relaxed. Much more slowed down and less abrupt. "Yeah, this week's been amazing. Like remember our boat ride on Pristine River. It was so awesome, that is, until it sank and you had to surf on the turtle..." a tone of annoyance in her voice. On the one hand, they both had fun, but on the other hand she didn't get to admit her feelings in a truly perfect way like she had always envisioned... "And like... how you were so brave when you stood up to that mugger. I mean, I didn't really like that duel disk much anyway..." She awkwardly scratched the back of her head as she recalled her original academy disk. Always taught not to waste things as a child she used it quite extensively up to the very last minute, until she finally had an excuse to upgrade to the free Cyclone Duel Disk. "Still... it IS the thought that counts." She took in a deep breathe. It may not have been a perfect sunset after a fun picnic, or a candle lit dinner where here dress didn't catch on fire, but she had at last finally felt as though she could say it. "And even though all these things keep happening Dante..." her voice seemed a little choked up. "I know, it's always better just because you're there with me... And..." This was it... her face was bright pink as she looked her short comrade in the eye, her childhood friend since before either of them could love. The first boy she loved before she even knew what love was. "I love you." Edited by Wilhelmina Hatcher, Oct 17 2009, 11:13 PM.

Dante burned at her compliments, his cheeks turning pink when she called him brave: he knew he was awesome well enough, but that didn't mean otherscould go and praise him for it all the time! It just drew too much attention to him, and Dante preferred to be in the shadows. And all that besides, in all fairness, Dante could never have used that turtle if Mina hadn't first found... it's jaw... with her leg. And the mugger, though obviously bigger than Dante, really wasn't all that threatening, even with all the decibels of his falcetto voice combined. The man sounds like Mickey Mouse, and I'm some kinda hero.... She took a deep breath, and Dante shifted his gaze to pay closer attention to her. He knew that breath: she was going to say somethign important. Generally, this began another adventure, and the short boy tensed, fearing what sort of mishap in which they would find themselves involed this time. When she spoke, it seemed to Dante, it was of gratitude, and he let out a breath he didn't realize he had been holding. She was glad he was her friend. It was important, and he was glad to hear it, but more so, he was glad to hear that he didn't have to exert himself too tremendously as yet. "Well, I guess I am pretty awesome.... He looked up at her with a smile, and spoke four little words. "Love you too, Mina." The words hung in the air, though Dante didn't feel their presence, didn't see the one who hung them as he did his foul work. He stood up, and reached up high to tussle her hair. "After all, what kind of friend would I be if I didn't love a girl who was practically my sister?" Still smiling at her, he walked a few steps away, arms reaching out in a stretch as he yawned. "So, whuddya think? Should we make our way to the boat? Or do we have time still?" Through a yawn, making english difficult to understand through his german accent, Dante continued to say "'s'long as we stay put I'm fine, but relaxing on the ship sounds like a good time, too. Maybe the skies'll clear up and we can go to the beach? I can stay close to shore, and you might be able to tan, Pale one." He poked fun at her, and smiled as he chided, "Think you can do it without burning again?" Edited by Sakaki Ahi, Oct 18 2009, 02:10 AM.

"Love you too, Mina." His four little words lifted her to the highest heights she had ever felt in her young age. And in one quick moment, all her hopes and dreams were crushed in the most violent and gut wrenching way she could possibly imagine. "After all, what kind of friend would I be if I didn't love a girl who was practically my sister?" How... how could those words hurt so bad? She clutched at the edges of her skirt, trying so hard to fight back tears, but finding herself unable. Tears were pouring from her eyes, as she sobbed quietly, ignoring the remainder of what Dante had said, a low whimper escaping her lips. |

Dante stopped in the middle of his last sentence, catching the body language just a little bit later than he normally did. "Mina... You're crying. What's wrong?" He was too familiar with her brittle body to not worry about her. "Mina, did you get hurt?" He approached her quickly, placing a hand on one shoulder, and the otherm came down to grasp hers where it bunched up her skirt. She did not answer in what Dante called an appropriate time, and he stepped in front of her, eyes full of concern. "Mina, you don't have to hide anything from me... I'm your best friend. I'm always here for you, Mina. Friends forever, right?" He smiled at her, looking up to try and look into her eyes. "C'mon, Mina, talk to your friend." |

Deep down inside, she knew the boy meant well, but right now she was just seething, getting angrier and sadder and crying harder. Friends forever, right? She felt like yelling out no, she didn't want to be just friends. She wanted more from the boy and he... why couldn't he just see what she saw? Tears kept flowing from her eyes, as she clutched the edge of her skirt even more, a pained expression on her face with every word of assurance cementing their friendship... just friends. At last, she got up, eyes at the floor unable to look Dante in the eye, her legs trembling, only barely able to keep her standing. For right now, all she wanted to do was to just run from Dante, to not look like such a pathetic fool in front of the only boy she cared about, and find a nice little hole to crawl into and die. The closest thing she could find was her local hotel room though... [To: Fourth Floor - Billie and Danielle's room] |

"Mina! Wait-- up." But it was too late. She was gone before he had a chance. He raced out the door, but by the time he got there, she was nowhere to be found, which left a very worried Dante standing outside the lobby of the hotel, alone, like an idiot. He sighed heavily, and walked back in, now in a much more foul mood than before. "And i thought Scripture study was tough... God, your complexity's got nothing on the female mind." Shaking his head, he flopped down into the same chair in which he sat before. He grumbled at a couple strangers who had witnessed the whole thing ("What are you looking at?"), and looked off to the side, seeing the basket of clothing Mina had brought up. Man, she left 'em here... He shook his head, and sighed once more. "S'pose I can't just l;eave them sitting there." Ordinarily, he would con someone else into doing the work, putting in the effort, but this time... Well, Mina was upset for some reason, and as her friend, though she obviously didn't want to see him right now, it was his job to -- hey, why didn't she want to see him? What did he do? And why couldn't she have talked to him about it? He tried to tell himself that Mina must have had a reason, whatever she was upset about, not to speak with him about it, but couldn't think of one himself. He tried to have more faith in her -- about the amount she deserved -- but not knowing drove him crazy. But he knew, more than anything else, that Mina did not want to see him, and so there he sat, looking glum, grumbling at passersby in the lobby who looked at him the wrong way, folding his clothes, alogn with hsi friend's, for the rest opf the world to see. |
