Invitation to Darkness

"And that settles that."

The pieces were in place. Miss Kim stepped out of the elevator into the hotel lobby. Here, she would meet with the students who wished to participate in Overlord Z's special event. The precise details were still unknown, but Miss Kim was not one to come unprepared. Let's see how he responds, she thought to herself behind a hint of a smile. She took a seat on one of the couches that the hotel had placed there. It would be a comfortable place to wait for the students.

It was 11:45.

[From: Practice Run, once complete.]

It was 11:47.

By this point, the world as Jason O'Connell saw it was a blur. Things were going by way too quickly, and he was having some trouble grasping the scenery, but at least with good reason.

After all, he had to be back at the hotel by noon, and therefore he was sprinting. That quick test duel with Xaavfiear took a touch longer than he thought, and now he was on the verge of being late to his first Academy-related event. Oddly enough, this was the least of his worries, since as the new kid he also feared missing out since nobody knew who he was. For now, though, he took it in stride, both literally and figuratively. Perhaps this way he'd be able to meet some new people before doing so in the classroom.

After five more minutes of solid running, Jason had finally made his way back to the hotel doors. He was already out of breath. He pushed the door open with one last burst, then paused for a moment, leaning on the door while catching his breath. Still panting heavily but able to move, Jason made his way toward the area where Miss Kim had instructed students to meet.

((OOC: Akane #2 ; Lex #1))

Chatter could be heard down the hall as Lex Adams and Akane Tachimuka arrived onto the scene roughly 4 minutes after Jason had. Armed with duel disks, they were discussing what the challenge could be about, and each had their own ideas on the matter. While Lex was dressed in black jeans and a light, black, zippered jacket, Akane sported her Osiris Red attire.

Lex had inquired about that, earlier. The response she gave was that it was an academy-related event and she felt like dressing the part. On top of that, she wanted to show the pro that an Osiris such as herself had a fair level of talent by his own set standards. After all of the duels the raven-haired girl had with Nanayo Shingetsu and others, Akane had learned from them and grew as a duelist in the last year-and-a-bit. While she still had flaws in her skill, they weren't anywhere near as glaring as they had been in the past.
...Jumping back on topic, ...she'd probably be the only one of the students in uniform.

Spotting Miss Kim on one of the couches and another person in the area, the Red-Blue duo approached the waiting professor. Lex glanced at the lone young man for a moment as Akane addressed the teacher.

"Professor." From that point, Akane went solo from her greeting.
"I heard one of the Pro Duelists that came to the academy was putting on some sort of dueling event. We're supposed to meet here for that, right?"

Meanwhile, Lex approached the other individual. The cross pendant that was bound around his neck swayed from his chest. The blue-haired teen recalled seeing someone like the dirty blonde in the dining room during the duel that Miss Kim had the other day, but Lex had never seen him before that. Was that him? Was he a student, or did he just happen to be there?

"Hey," he began with a relaxed, friendly tone. He raised his hand as if to wave, yet not. It was more of a casual 'hello' greeting. He then leaned back against the nearest wall and continued with a baseless question. "You here for that pro's special tournament?"

"Yes, that's right." She waved her hand out across the couches and chairs that were set up in the area. "Please, sit down. We still have some time before we leave."

Jason thought he'd remembered the blue-haired one from last night. They hadn't talked; they just both happened to be in the same location watching the same duel. He hadn't seen the other one yet; however, he easily recognized her as a student due to her Academy attire. She was in red, and he'd already been informed that his dorm was Osiris Red. He didn't know too much about the dorm structure, but he knew that the reds usually weren't the cream of the crop. This gave him a bit of confidence that he was doing the right thing.

"Yeah," Jason replied to the blue-haired one, still a bit short of breath. "I thought I heard her say something about it earlier this morning. I wanted to see how I stacked."

One can only wonder how Gouki spent the day before today without his roommate around who for some reason left without a word. However that will be for you to know and for Gouki to figure out. The announcement of the tournament that the professional player known as Overlord Z was planning for the day shot a devilish grin in the demon’s expression. He could care less about what happened to his roommate for the challenge sent from the Overlord to give the opportunity that Gouki missed when the professional was in the island during that weekend 2 months before the trip to the city. From the shadows, the demon walked into the lobby where there was three other students and Miss Kim herself. It was expected for more students to show up for the challenge. Without saying a word to any of his fellow classmates, the Demon of Hate sat down in one of the couches close to the teacher.

“So what the hell is with the Overlord planning a tournament at the last minute? I wonder if he made any deals with the academy with that over exaggerated amount of money of his to make the field trip last an extra day longer for this challenge. Not like I have any complaints since this feels like it will be the highlight of the entire trip.”

The black-haired demon thought it was such a disappointment for his blind roommate to have to miss out on such an event such as this. Unbeknownst to him however, Draco is actually greatly involved in the tournament that is about to take place. So far the other students in the lobby seemed to give no interest to the red-eyed demon as they all appear as strangers. Whatever happened to Sean Littell, the duelist who desired to become the demon’s rival from the beginning? It would have been interesting to see his rival also participate in the tournament. But the disappearances are what happen when people lose interest in the universe known to all as Crimson Wind Academy. As far as the rules were concerned with the tournament, they were pretty ambiguous as to how exactly they would be played.

“Miss, I do not think you told us about what rules that Z will be using for the event. Care to explain to me about these details?”, said Gouki in his usual impolite manner.

"Mm. Well you've surely got the spirit," Lex replied to the unknown, seemingly new student. He extended his hand in front of the teen with the dirty blonde hair: a greeting. "Lexington Adams: Obelisk Blue; 3rd-Year."

((OOC: [assumes Gouki Quote #1 is thought and #2 is speech]))

Meanwhile, "Thank you," Akane sat down with Miss Kim, waiting for everyone else who intended on participating to show up. "---!" Not too long after that, another student appeared as if from out of nowhere. Akane simply shifted her gaze to the professor's opposite side where the couch that the student had chosen to seat himself in became occupied.

Gouki Shinkou: Ra Yellow. She knew him as the 'Demon of Turbo.' Any changes to that she hadn't kept up with, yet. Though, she would never refer to him as such. Of the student among the Ra Yellow, Mr. Shinkou is said to be one of the best, there. Akane knew of him, but not much more could be said about that.

His question, put forth towards Miss Kim, caught the Osiris girl's interests. Lex had only informed her about the tournament and the extra day stayover, which Akane relayed to Sky, as it was important.

How would the professor respond to the 'Demon?'

Woosh, woosh woosh!

The sounds of a heliroflcopter approaching the hotel could be heard from the lobby. The car park just outside of the lobby had been cleared and sufficient space had been provided for the helicopter to land. It would seem Overlord Z had requested space for an airborne vehicle to land at the hotel. Sounds could be heard as the helicopter powered down, after it landed.

It was exactly midday. Not a nanosecond earlier or later as to the arrival of the chopper.

The door to the vehicle opened and a man wearing a dark grey, designer suit stepped out. He had blonde hair which was spiked up and clear, blue eyes. He approached the entrance to the hotel and stepped inside. His eyes scanned the room until he spotted a group of kids with an adult. One was wearing the Crimson Wind Academy school uniform for a low ranking dorm. He approached the group.

“Greetings students of Crimson Wind Academy. I am one of Overlord Z’s agents and I am here to transport any students interested in participating in Overlord Z’s tournament, to his mansion on Starfield’s Island. You may all call me Agent Ω”

He gave a small motion of acknowledgment to Miss Kim with a short nod of his head.

“Of course you are more than welcome to join us if you wish to do so, but I can understand how busy the life of a teacher can be. On behalf of Overlord Z, I would like to thank you for gathering these students together.”

He turned his attention back to the group.

“I am certain that some of you have questions regarding the event but everything will be clarified once we reach the mansion. Time is of the essence so if you would all please follow me.”

Agent Ω pivoted on his right foot so that his body was facing the exit and he proceeded to leave the hotel and enter the helicopter. A separate side door was opened for Z’s guests to enter the vehicle.

Rated R - Parental Discretion is Advised
Alistair stepped from the elevator doors, his step a mixture of grace, and swagger. His blue jean shorts fell to his knee, and then ended in a tear, where they appeared to have been separated from the bottom leggings. Of course, truth be told, that was just the way they were designed, since Alistair had always liked this particular brand of jean shorts, and they only came in such a style.

He ran his fingers through his thick, flowing sandy blonde hair as he walked stepped into the lobby of the hotel. He hadn't been particularly interested in the events to begin with, but he had decided that it would probably be more fun to participate in this boring bit, than to have a day to himself. Who knew? Maybe there would even be some fun for Alistair to have.

He slid his hand from his hair, and into his sweater's front pocket to meet its companion. The arms of the vest had been torn off, and the shirt that he wore under it had no sleeves, thus reveal his cut, muscular arms. He yawned widely before he marched right along past everyone else who had been there to the guy who had showed up in the helechopper.

"Fancy ride you got there, Agent Horseshoe," he said with a quick roll of his green eyes at the chopper, sitting in the middle of the parking lot. His voice was filled with a sort of laughter that was both mocking, as well as amusement. Without another thought, he continued to follow along behind agent horseshoe to where the door was opened for them.

He pulled his hand from his pocket, and took a hold of the black strap of the pack he had hung over his shoulder, which contained both his disk, and his decks of cards. He yawned again, and gave a quick pull of the strap to make sure that his pack was secure on his back. Then, he stepped from the ground, into the helicopter without so much as breaking stride. He took a seat in the center of the chopper, curious to see who else was coming, since he had not even bothered to stop and glance at the students who were also accompanying them.

[Before Ω shows up]

Jason was still a bit stressed from the run, but he continued his conversation with Lex. However, the introduction left him a bit... shocked. His eyes bugged a bit, perhaps in intimidation. He still responded well, though, as regaining his composure was something he'd had to practice to deal with his own family issues. "Jason O'Connell," he finally said, accepting the handshake. "First-year transfer. ...Osiris Red." He ended showing that he was still a touch intimidated, despite hoping not to. I guess I still have some work to do on that, he thought. I guess I need a few more duels to get back into the swing.

He had wanted to say more about how he'd decided to meet some of his schoolmates here, but he didn't really have time to continue. He was quickly silenced as the sound of a helicopter landing quickly grabbed his attention. Despite being unable to see anything due to being inside, he still looked in the general direction of where the sound was coming from. Must be him, he thought. Must be good to be rich. As Ω entered, he had Jason's full attention. He listened intently to Ω's short words, though because they were brief and to the point it had left him with more questions than answers. He didn't really have time to ask anything, though, as Ω left before he could ask them. Jason hoped Ω's words were right and everything would be explained. He turned to Miss Kim as if for guidance, but the back of his head was racing. Omega? I have a bad feeling about this... He quickly erased that thought, however, as the anticipation to test his deck even more was getting to him.
