Given the go, he drew his card, and smirked slightly. It was an interesting turn of events, and if everything worked out okay, he'd win in absolutely no time. Starting the main phase... "I activate Dark World Dealings; we both draw, and then discard 1 card." He said, picking a card up, and then sending Phantom Skyblaster to the graveyard.
After this, he stalled a moment and thought. He had an interesting set of cards, but he chose a route he figured would work, and decided no turning back. "I summon Breaker the Magical Warrior!" He said, playing the monster which rose from a circle of light.
"I will use his counter to destroy your Gaia Power" he said, as the field returned to a natural, blank state. Fossil Tusker also powered back down to 1800. "And now, Breaker will attack Fossil Tusker" this was one he almost laughed, because he could imagine Jason's confused face for making his monster commit suicide.
"Main phase II; the fruit of my labor, Dark Armed Dragon!" He called, as the large mechanical, black-plated monster appeared. "Calling his priority on Fossil Tusker." He said, removing Breaker from play to destroy Jason's only defense. "That's it; I end." He said, passing his turn to over to his disadvantaged opponent. |

Dark Armed Dragon... Jason didn't like what he saw. If his hand were any better he could have dealt with it, but with his grips full of monsters he had nothing. Neither of his draws (including the one from Dark World Dealings) involved any kind of support, and nothing he currently had could beat that Dark Armed Dragon. He just had to hope for the best. "I place one monster in defense mode and end my turn," was all he could say. |

He nodded, and drew to start his turn. He gave it a peculiar look, and then looked back out to his opponent's field. He kept his look, as if he was pondering something. He added the card to his hand, and immediately went into his next move. "Dark Armed Dragon will activate his effect again on your face-down!" He said, beginning to grin. A germ was removed from his graveyard, and his opponent's Legendary Jujitsu Master was destroyed. He looked back to his hand. There was nothing to stop him now. "I'll now summon Brron, Mad King of Dark World!"
"First, Dark Armed Dragon will attack your life points directly." He said, signaling the mechanical beast to do so. It fired, and Jason's side of the field erupted into explosions. "Next, Brron!" He said. The monster fired dark electricity, striking. Of course, Xaavfiear would then activate his effect. "I'll use Brron to send Sillva, Warlord of Dark World from my hand to the graveyard, which allows him to be special summoned!" He said. A dark, thundery portal opened up next to Brron, and Sillva emerged.
"Now, Sillva and Dark Germs, finish his life points!" He roared. In a barrage of attacks, Jason was defeated.
His duel disk deactivated, and his monsters disappeared, and he shuffled his deck back up. "Nice try, but today wasn't your lucky day." He said, smirking a bit. "Even without accomplishing the main feat, it pulled it's task; maybe this will end up working out..." He said to himself. He nodded to Jason. "Good match." He said, offering a handshake. It was a decent to do so, anyways. |

Jason was speechless. Losing certainly wasn't new to him; he was far from being an undefeated duelist. However, none of his practice draws had looked like this. With the rough 50-50 spread between monsters and other cards, clearly this hand was a fluke on his part. He needed to do some more testing, though, as he barely had a chance. "Hm," was all he could say, accepting the handshake. "I don't know if I'll ever have the chance, but one of these days we'll need to have a rematch. You know, one that I can actually draw support cards for." He didn't have to, but he took the cards left in his hand, and gave them a quick flash in Xaavfiear's direction. While it was certainly quick enough that he didn't see the specific cards, one thing should have made it very apparent: the fact that all of them were orange. It was probably apparent from his lack of plays, but this time at least it was made known that it wasn't by choice. As he concluded the handshake, Jason caught the clock in the corner of his eye. It was 11:30. Oh crap, I have to be back at the hotel in half an hour! he thought. He hated to leave on such short notice, but it couldn't be helped. The last thing Jason wanted was to be late for his first "official" Academy event. "I'd love to stay and chat, but I just noticed the time and I've gotta bolt. Catch you later!" Jason waited a few seconds for a response, then grabbed his stuff and ran out the door, sprinting in the general direction of the hotel. [There we go, should be all set. To: Passage to Darkness, after response.] |
