Detailed explination on Psychofocus

Well, I will TRY AS HARD AS POSSIBLE (no absolute guarantees) to cover everything you want to know, leaving no loopholes or misunderstood equations.

Notes:
-‘Imbalance’ and ‘instability’ can be used interchangeably.
-‘Shift’ is used to describe the actual change from homeostasis to psychofocus
-‘Logic’ describes the part of his brain that uses the comprehension
-‘THE focus’ is the subject in question that JeY is comprehending while in psychofocus
-Sections labeled ‘Inconsistency’ are simply labeled as such to describe the MOST specific details that are too specific to simply be assumed from the general idea; They do not (mostly) actually contradict the general idea.
-I tried as hard as possible to not use the word ‘focus’ to substitute fro psychofocus - I made en effort to type it out each time, as the word ‘focus’ means something entirely else in this explanation. After proof-reading there aren’t any slips -I- saw, but if you don’t understand one or more sentences using the word ‘focus’, please let me know.

Now, for the main courses.
WHAT IT IS: Born with it, JeY has a large mental imbalance with how his brain thinks and produces emotion. Because the body has a need to be at homeostasis (balanced) all the time and as much as possible, JeY appears completely normal, but with not much stability. There is no physical defect or deformity, it’s just the strangeness of (neurons?) and chemicals in his brain. A completely natural, but very bizarre and unordinary occurrence, in fact, one of a kind.

INCONSISTENCIES: While just this as an imbalance for its backing on its own doesn’t seem to compensate for such a drastic change in JeY’s state while in psychofocus, it is compensated by the sheer amount of energy used due to the LACK of homeostasis. The function of logic and emotion become completely imbalanced, shifting to one side or the other (always Logic, however). This completely destroys the body’s attempt to retain homeostasis, and therefore the brain acts on its own, reducing its limits to nearly zero.

HIS EYES: The eyes are explained by the amount of energy surging through his mind – it produces a small unnatural light and the showing of his true iris color.

HOW IT TRIGGERS (as described in RP to Nanayo): Psychofocus is triggered by THREE things, NO MORE. Listed from most common to least, they are
1: Naturally occurs while concentrating on solely one thing with increased effort. Most of the time while dueling, he concentrates hard, and the instability in his brain shifts from homeostasis to psychofocus, shifting to his logic.
2: Reducing the content of his concentration to zero, by force. Always using his favorite music that he listens to, he eliminates all outside stimuli, and does not go through his thoughts. His brain shifts while nearly nothing is going on, shifting to logic. This takes TIME and forces him to stop everything else he’s doing for the time he takes to do shift - if there are any interruptions, he thinks of something else, or even slightly does something else, the process must be restarted, and therefore slightly more difficult to achieve. Once psychofocus is achieved, he immediately chooses his task and goes from there
3: Adrenaline instantly triggers his brain to shift to logic. While put in a Flight-or-Fight response-type situation, his imbalance immediately shifts to logic, dealing with solely his reaction to whatever may severely threaten his life, being, or safety. Being challenged to a fight and punched in the face IS NOT an example. Escaping a building nearly completely on fire and burning material almost crushing him IS an example.

INCONSISTENTCY: JeY was able to shift to psychofocus immediately with the ability of the light. This is no longer the case - No light, No Kilua, NO instant shifting (UNLESS trigger #3 occurs), WHATSOEVER. Trigger #1 is a shift over time, as it happens while he’s concentrating, and then it suddenly takes full effect randomly. If that concentration is broken before he achieves psycofocus, the process is restarted.

NOW WHAT: JeY is in psychofocus. Now what? Well, first his brain chooses a focus. Whatever is NOT the focus is ignored from JeY’s ability to process responses to those stimuli (unless his nerves are physically triggered, such as physical pain, then his focus shifts). Naturally, the human brain can comprehend things from senses in less than a second. The brain is a wonder when it comes to interpreting information. While in psychofocus, and the brain is completely shifted to logic, his comprehension is able to interpret information nearly one hundred times faster. For example, while dueling, JeY can look at a card, interpret everything he can do with it in all of the possible situations with it interacting with the cards in his hand and/or on the field, and most, if not all responses to these plays within 1-3 seconds. However, if someone on the side were to shout to ask what he just drew, he would seem as if he never heard it (because his brain technically never did, due to that person not being the focus).

In turn, his emotion is completely zeroed out. He cannot feel, express, or be affected by emotions whatsoever while his brain is shifted to logic. His face is usually expressionless, his tone of voice is automatic, and he exhibits no body language. Unless he makes expressing emotions the focus, it will never happen.

EMOTIONAL RAGE: On a very, VERY rare occurrence, induced by intolerable levels of stress, or (referenced in a topic with Jake) shifting to psychofocus too often (about 12 times in 2-3 days, which was -only- possible that one time while he controlled the light), the imbalance will shift to emotion rather than logic. In this state, he is completely driven by emotion, with no ability of logical thought. The emotion expressed can change rapidly without warning, and is usually exhibited in the most extreme fashion possible. It is usually negative emotions.

INCONSISTENCY: Emotional Rage has NEVER happened prior to the RP, however, this must be mentioned due to its appearance in a topic with Jake. Since then, it now exists and has the possibility to happen again, though NOT PROBABLE IN THE RP EVER, from this point on. You said every detail, so there is one.

ENERGY CONSUMPTION: While in a psychofocused state, the homeostasis in the brain is basically eradicated by the imbalance, so all normal function is replaced by synthetic function. Normally, the brain cannot comprehend thought that quickly, however in JeY’s case, it is able to by rapidly consuming the energy stored in his body to rapidly speed up the process. THIS DOES NOT CAUSE HIM TO LOSE WEIGHT. It is the energy he would normally have if active for that day. In numbers, he consumes 12 hours-worth of energy, assuming he’s eaten all of his meals, in about 20-40 minutes (depending on his focus or tasks). So, after about a 10 minute duel, he’s ready to crash for a nice long nap, or suffer from fatigue otherwise.

INCONSISTENCY: So what if he extends his focus beyond his current limit of energy? He cannot - his body would be forced to shut down and he would pass out before he spent more than he has. He will not wake up until he has at least been asleep for double the time he has been psychofocusing, and no matter how long he is asleep after that, whenever he wakes up, he will feel like, in an example, like he had just woken up after 3-4 hours of sleep after staying up really late the night before, and waking up early. However, the longer he is asleep, the easier he will wake up (however the energy he actually has is based on how much sleep he actually did get).

ENERGY BASED ON LIGHT: This section is to ELIMINATE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THIS SUBJECT based on when JeY had the light (which was for a while). There was absolutely no toll on JeY’s own energy through use of psychofocus while JeY had the light. Sometimes the pressure of the light energy would take a toll on JeY’s body, but, it never had anything to do with psychofocus. If it seems that energy consumption during the RP was way different than described in the above paragraph’s way because of how he was with the light, that is because it was; the light messed all of that up, HOWEVER, psychofocus’s function with the light is to be COMPLETELY disregarded due to its lack of existence now.

LOGIC’S ABILITY: Now for the good stuff; when his brain is shifted to logic, it has the utmost power of comprehension on the focus. A formal definition of comprehension is as follows: (logic) The totality of intensions, that is, attributes, characters, marks, properties, or qualities, that the object possesses, or else the totality of intensions that are pertinent to the context of a given discussion. In common English, “The full understanding of something” (which is what I meant regardless of what you thought the formal definition means). Whatever JeY’s focus is, the information he gathers from it can be processed in less than a second for an absolute understanding of every single detail. If his focus is a painting, he can point out each individual stroke after scanning it for a few seconds. If the focus is an “I did this, what can I do now?” question, he can answer it with every feasible possibility and all of its possible outcomes/consequences (depending on the amount of information given, the more initially given, the more complex his response). If his focus is a bar fight, he can accurately predict each and every move someone will make (just one {or two} person{s}, unless he ATTEMPTS to widen his focus to multiple people which is not very probable) based on observing their stature and initial movements, and instantly comprehend the best reaction to that move. If his focus is a conversation 15 feet away, he could probably faintly hear it barring constructive interference (other noise crossing the path). By comprehension, he can interpret and understand the information perceived from the focus by his senses at incredible rates.

INCONSISTENCY: The more spread his focus is over his senses, the faster he consumes energy and puts himself in danger, and the greater chance he will have to miscalculate something (which is possible). Also, anything that is NOT (in) his focus, his senses WILL NOT pick up OR register in his brain, and therefore will be completely oblivious to his surroundings and other stimuli. Though, he does have the ability to change the focus to something else immediately, but from that instant, he is unaware of what he changed from. Changing too many times, too fast, over too broad of subjects (such as from a person to an unrelated car, rather than one side of a tree to another) will make him get dizzy and pass out immediately. Broadening his focus to an entire room, an entire group of objects, or an entire group of people, rather than just one situation or one event involving him and/or one (or two) other people, causes his energy to drain 5 times as fast. It is VERY difficult to broaden his focus that wide in the first place, and maintain IF he can manage to do that. HOWEVER, based on his life at the academy and how it can be triggered, a situation requiring or involving that would never, if not just once, occur. But, since it is a possibility, I am noting it as a detail due to including all details coverable.

MEMORY: Ah yes, what JeY in a normal state can and cannot recall after psychofocusing. Basically, he can only remember a general synopsis, with a vivid recollection of what happened up to 20 seconds prior to exiting psychofocus. Everything else is not stored. This is explained, since his brain is imbalanced and completely out of bounds of homeostasis, the function of memory is somewhat separate from the function of comprehension. And since all the effort is being placed in comprehension, memory does its own thing, HOWEVER, it functions evenly with comprehension, since without memory, a human can’t really function. Because comprehending requires access to memory, it is also boosted, but only in terms with what his focus is. His short-term memory remains at his 8 slots (he is naturally one above standard), but he is able to place things in long term without effort ONLY concerning his focus. However, these memories are treated as normal, and hard to process without taking away from the focus. So, after exiting psychofocus, he simply retains the last 20 seconds of information, and he can picture in his head what happened as if it was something that happened yesterday, and he was simply recalling the main points.
(That was really hard to describe, since this is a touchy area to define)

FUTURE OF PSYCHOFOCUS: Due to JeY’s ‘event’, and his comatose state being induced by the cause of psychofocus, he will take it as a lesson and use it seldomly, only when necessary, or accidentally (trigger #1, etc). It will mainly be used for dueling, however since I cannot see the future, I cannot say that there will not be any other events that he will trigger it in. It will be that ‘problem’ that’s ‘wrong’ with him, and he will never try to make it a big deal.

FUN FACTS: Alright, I believe I covered the base of it. Here are some details that I either just thought of or I didn’t think fit into the categories above that are nice to know.
1. Ability vs. Condition: …I’m willing to settle on both. It’s a condition because it exists within him, unable to be completely controlled or removed. It can be an ability because it’s something he has that he is able to use for his benefit, with consequences based on how it’s used, of course.
2. JeY has dreams about what he did in his psychofocus if he sleeps soon or right after he does it, in perfect precision as to what happened, but he never remembers them when he wakes up.
3. JeY doesn’t care about anything while in psychofocus, except completing the task of what his focus is, however he doesn’t feel defeat or victory on whether or not his task was completed, until after he exits psychofocus.
4. JeY thinks he can see ghosts if he focuses on seeing them <_<
5. While a person is his focus, he expects everyone to understand everything he says, though he never gets frustrated when asked to repeat something a million times a million different ways.
6. JeY will use as few words as possible while speaking during a task, as it takes away from the focus, but makes extra effort to create the most vivid sentences possible when his focus is speaking to a person.
7. Towards only to what his focus is, he has extremely fast and accurate reflexes, and great timing.
8. JeY walked off the docks after dueling Demitri and losing, and since he was thinking about his duel, he didn’t know where he was going, but once he was falling into the water, his focus shifted to falling, since an abrupt change in gravity grabbed his attention. JeY miraculously saved his duel disk and backpack from getting wet, and then proceeded to fall in.
9. JeY sometimes seems drunk when noticeably fatigued after using psychofocus.
10. JeY cannot suddenly know or learn more information when he psychofocuses, he does not gain any knowledge, just the ability to make accurate predictions on stuff he doesn’t know, and can assume things very well and be right most of the time.
