Since I quit role playing at this place for some time and decided to role play here once again (I think I went crazy or something,) so I'm taking an exam again, the new one this time. 1.If "Book of Moon" is chained to the effect of "Demise, King of Armageddon", is "Demise, King of Armageddon" destroyed by his effect? Does the effect still activate? Explain your reasoning. Demise, King of Armageddon will be destroyed if Book of Moon is chained to it's effect, because since Book of Moon resolves first, Demise, King of Armageddon has no name, stats, or effect, because it is not face-up. The effect will still activate/resolve because it was not negated. 2. If a "Crystal Beast" monster is tributed for a tribute summon, can you activate its "Crystilization" effect? Explain why or why not. The Crystilization effect will not activate because Tributing is not Destroying which Destroying is the requirement to activate. Also as brownie points; Crystilization does not Activate per-se, because it does not create a chain, it simply happens, or otherwise. 3. Explain the difference between a card effect and a cost. Also, explain how to determine whether a discard or tributing is the result of a card effect, or a the result of a cost. Furthermore, can "Dark World" monster effects activate when discarded via a cost? Do cards like "Sangan" activate as the result of a cost? A cost happens before anything else, and cards may not be played if the cost can not be met. A cost can not be negated. The card effect is what happens when a card is played after the cost is met, if there is one. The effect of a card can be negated. Dark World monsters can not activate when discarded for a cost. Cards worded like Sangan do activate when sent to the graveyard from the field as a cost. 4. You are running a Crystal Beast deck. You have "Ancient City - Rainbow Ruins" on the field, and four "Crystal Beasts" in your spell and trap zone, as well as a "Crystal Beast" in your monster zone. Your opponent activates a field spell card. Can you negate the effect of the field spell card? Will Rainbow Ruins be destroyed by the field spell? If so, why is Rainbow Ruins destroyed? Explain your reasoning. Rainbow Ruin's negation ability is a level 2 Multi-Trigger ability, not a level 3 counter-trap, and does not negate a game mechanic, like Solemn Judgment does. Rainbow Ruin will be discarded from the board does to the one field-card rule. 5. Can "Rope of Life" be activated if you have no cards in your hand? Is discarding for "Rope of Life" a cost? Explain your reasoning. Discarding your hand is a cost and the cost must be at least 1 card. So if you have zero cards in your hand, you cannot activate "Rope of Life". 6. Choose and construct a deck from the following line-ups. You may also construct a side-board if you wish to do so (It will be worth bonus points, however you must add a explanation of your card choices and your reasoning). You should also have a paragraph explaining the deck and explaining your card choices. Also for each illegal card in the decklist (Ie banned cards or having less the 40 cards) you will loose 5 points from your total score. - Crystal Beasts - Horus Lockdown - Counter Fairy - Strike Ninja (Must be a Strike Ninja deck, not a Dark Armed Dragon line-up with Strike Ninja teched in.) - Water Control Use the deck created in a match (best two out of three rounds) against an examiner. Your grade will not be effected by the outcome of the match, but will be determined by the plays made. For the duel portion, you may come across one of the following decks: Gadgets, Zombies, Six Samurai, Burn, Dark Armed Dragon. However you may choose one deck that you would not like to face. Deck list: [2]Van'Dalgyon [3]Bountiful Artemis [3]Gravekeeper's Spy [2]Gravekeeper's Assailant [2]Gravekeeper's Spear Soldier [2]Gravekeeper's Commandant [1]Marshmallon [1]Spirit Reaper [1]Card Trooper [3]Necrovalley [3]Allure of Darkness [1]Terraforming [1]Lightning Vortex [1]Brain Control [1]Mystical Space Typhoon [1]Royal Tribute [3]Solemn Judgment [2]Drastic Dropoff [2]Pulling the Rug [2]Dark Bribe [1]Torrential Tribute [2]Raigeki Break [1]Rite of Spirit Side: [3]Threatening Roar [2]Book of Moon [3]Kinetic Soldier [3]Macro Cosmos [1]Trap Dustshoot [1]Mind Crush [2]Twister Using two themes, Counter Fairy, and Gravekeeper's, I opted to use the disruption abilities of both archtypes to serve as a counter meta. The deck Limits graveyard effects, and saving cards such as Solemn, and Dark Bribe for more game-breaking plays. Using Royal Tribute and Drastic Dropoff, the deck attempts to control all aspects of their game (Graveyard, Cards they play, and Card thy draw.) The side furthers the deck's ability to deal with OTK, Burn, and Samurai. The deck neglects to side against Monarch and Gadget under the assumption that it simply does not need to. |

Exam was made null about two weeks ago. Exam changes should be going on, but I'm not entirely sure anyone did anything about it. >_> But, just so you know, Demise isn't hit by his effect, even if he's flipped down. |

'Impossible' is just a word the weak use to make themselves feel better.

...Then shouldn't there be notice regarding such so that new members don't waste their time taking this one? As it stands...I was under the impression that this one was being used for the time being since, again, no notice stating otherwise has been posted. >_< Edited by Demitri Reyveirnacus, Apr 24 2008, 06:17 PM.

Not really. It was me & Billie who fought against this exam, nulling it. Wasn't really Rou's fault on the nulling. |

Then, to prevent inconvenience in the future, would you please come to a more conclusive conclusion at a faster rate? I don't ask that just for myself, even though I'm probably the most selfish person on the forum, but the rest of the member populous, especially those who join in future; I know I would be driven away from a site if it took ages for the staff to come to an immediate decision. Thank you for pretending you care. |
