Name: O'Connell, Jason Age: 16 Dorm: Osiris Red Grade/Year: 1st Gender: Male Race: 50% Irish, 50% Italian Height: 5' 9" Weight: 166 lbs. Eye Color: Blue Hair Color: Light Brown/Dirty Blonde Personality: Jason is hard as stone. He has to be considering what he has had to endure. In many situations, he possesses a confidence that denies explanation. Sometimes, though, it's just a good act. Internally, he possesses a fear that what he once had to experience could come back to haunt him. He always wants things to change for the better, but fears that sometimes he is unable to do so. Through Duel Monsters he has come to understand the power of friendship, something he lacked in his early years. To him, it is an escape he desparately needs. It has done wonders for his confidence and while he certainly isn't the best duelist on campus, he has faith in his deck and isn't afraid of a challenge. He never gives up in a duel, even when facing impossibility. Defining Characteristics: Abnormally long sideburns, particularly for his age. Physical Appearance: ((Comment: Yes, I combined YGO, Pokemon, and Sonic into the same image. Naturally this is a pre-academy sprite/pic, hence there is no appropriately-colored clothing based on dorm and the "old school" duel disk.)) Jason's hair is hardly what you would call "tidy." Called scruffy by some and downright messy by others, it isn't his most redeeming feature, but he thinks he's making a statement by wearing it that way. (He at least washes it regularly.) His build is mostly average, with nothing really standing out about him below the neck. Outside of school dress code, his wardrobe is relatively basic, consisting primarily of hooded sweatshirts and blue jeans. Some say Jason's blue eyes are the redeeming feature in his face. While he duels, some of his opponents think they gain more of a shine, showing his true passion for dueling. However, this does have a few side effects. The most notable of these is that he has a very poor "poker face," and he can sometimes telegraph his moves in this way. This is one weakness Jason hopes to correct through his attendance at the Academy. Known Relatives: Bradley (father, 46), Anita (mother, 44) Biography: Jason grew up in a relatively average life outside of Seattle, Washington. He was the only child of Bradley and Anita O'Connell, and as a result he was spoiled a bit more than children with siblings. He always had the latest video games, and as he grew older, he also gained a decent collection of children's trading cards. Naturally, it wasn't long before him and his friends started playing the game known as "Duel Monsters." Duel Monsters proved to not only be a great pastime with his friends, but it also, unknown to his friends, proved to be an escape. As a teenager, Jason had found that his father had a drinking problem. Once he'd come home from work, he would chug a few beers, and then the nastiness started. His attitude would become that much more negative, and both Jason and his mother would end up being verbally abused by the end of the night. Of course, his father would not remember any of this, and would proceed the next day. Things only became worse once Jason knew of the problem; every time he made an attempt to make things change, his father would lash out at him and begin to make threats, prompting him to either keep quiet or suffer further abuse. Things came to a crashing halt shortly before Jason's 16th birthday. Having had enough of the abuse, Jason's mother filed for divorce and left, opting not to take Jason with her for reasons she chose not to explain. Shortly afterward, the game store Jason and his friends played was hit by hard times, and it was forced to close. With his mother away, Jason was in a living hell. He knew that things at home could only get worse, so he needed to think of a way out fast. It took about a month for Jason to get all the paperwork necessary, but he eventually applied to and was accepted to the Crimson Wind Academy. He hoped that this would finally be a bit of a turnaround; he would no longer have to deal with his father, and he still was able to exercise his passion for dueling. He hoped it would also be a great way to forget what he's had to endure for the last several years. Looks good to me. If you haven't requested an Exam from the Staff (me, Rina, and Aoi) then you should do that (or skip it and go into Sebek Green Dorm). You're almost there! =) |
