Kyo took a seat at the monorail station in the city outskirts, positioned his various belongings around him and waited patiently for the train to arrive. A gentle breeze swept through the station, blowing his long fringe astray and briefly revealing the pattern-like scars on his face. For the first time in his life, he was excited. He could finally leave Tokyo behind, and forget about everything that happened to him, as well as everything that he had done. Turning around, he took what would be his last look at the city. The various tall buildings made for an impressive sight, but Kyo also knew that the city was as cold and unforgiving as it was beautiful. Eat or be eaten... that was the rule that Kyo had lived on for the last eleven years, and the rule that he could finally break. What possible harm could befall him whilst in a school for a card game? With these positive thoughts in mind, Kyo took a brochure out of the black messenger bag placed on his lap and opened it. The brochure contained various pictures of the school, which was modern, pristine and certainly lived up to all the prestige Kyo had heard about. Kyo looked at the map of the school, which was so big that there was actually a monorail operating within it. The idea had initially been very amusing to him, as he had never studied in a school with more than 500 people in it. Flipping the page, Kyo looked through pictures of the Ra Yellow dorm, the dorm he had ended up in. His results in the written exam were mediocre due to barely preparing for it, but he managed to impress the proctor in the extra credit duel by winning without losing any Life Points. Despite being labeled as the middle dorm, Ra Yellow was still quite luxurious compared to what Kyo was used to. Queen-sized beds, marble flooring and various furniture such as desks, chairs and wardrobes filled the rooms, which all had separate bathrooms/toilets, The dorm rooms were also designed and decorated in a manner that would rival the average 5-star hotel room. "The monorail to Crimson Wind Academy has arrived at Platform One. Please prepare your tickets to be shown to the nearest ticket conductor." The public announcement that boomed throughout the station signified the arrival of the monorail. Kyo gathered his belongings, took the ticket from his back pocket and showed it to the conductor while boarding the monorail. After placing his bags in an overhead compartment, he sits down again on the hard plastic monorail seat and closed his eyes. He had no desire to take another look at Tokyo as the train left the station; unlike most, he had no fond memories of it or the people in it. Instead, he fell into a light sleep, laying back on his seat and trying to make himself as comfortable as possible. (Twenty minutes later) "We have arrived at Crimson Wind Academy. All passengers, please alight the monorail. To new students, at the exit, turn right and enter the Administration Office to be assigned a room and claim your duel disk. Your belongings will be taken to your room by academy staff. We hope you have enjoyed your trip with XX Transport." Kyo was awakened by yet another announcement. It certainly seemed like the school paid attention to its services; at least he knew what to do next. Leaving his other bags in the monorail, Kyo slings his messenger bag on his shoulder and heads towards the Admin Office, ready to begin a new life. (To: Admin Hall (West)) |
