The wide open field, designed with flower gardens and monuments of great prestige and importance, occupies a dozen more visitors, today. The chosen area to remember those many who have fallen: Dusk Memorial Park. It was here that Naruko Nakayama rested her active feet as she sat along one of the benches near the large park's center. Her Cyclone academy duel disk rested next to her. Lazily draped over it, pushing several buttons on her open PDA, which she held at a high angle over her head, the brunette girl watched the device's screen as some sort of mail was sent to someone*. Soon lowering her arm, she gazed at the mildly cloudy sky as those very clouds moved somewhat faster than normal. ".... .... ...." It was the best of times; it was the worst of times...; it was the windiest of times. ...Well, not the windiest, but it's pretty darn windy...! Naruko, here. And my luck's apparently running out.... ...Yeah, it's been pretty bad, this week. First day out on this trip, I lose my undefeated streak to a guy named Douken. ...I can't lie, it was a great duel, but still, it was important to me, dammit...!! ...After that, like, the next day, I find out Aoi's in the hospital. ...I'm still not exactly sure what happened - haven't actually spoken to the doctor yet - but she's got injured limbs and some form of amnesia - doesn't remember me.... .... .... Kids were throwing a frisbee in this windy weather. The wind flung it way~ down to another end of the field while the 2 young boys chased after it. .... .... .... ...! ...[sigh]. And I was supposed to tell her that steak ended... but it's not like telling her now would've meant anything.... ...Still, I feel like I'm keeping it from her.... All of that's the worst of it, but to add to that, I accidentally flung an almost-frozen chunk of strawberry ice cream onto some couple behind me and my friends while we were walking down the street. I'm glad they were forgiving people.... .... We need spoons stronger than those stupid, flimsy, plastic ones!! Geez....! That was so embarrassing, I couldn't even look back after that..., and that was yesterday, too. But I need my luck to turn around, later today. --No, right now, and onward. By now, Douken's gotten my message I just sent, so we'll finally be having our rematch today. With everything that's happened, I was too busy to face him sooner.... [flashback] And that Great Shogun Shien of his kept me from tieing our first duel. That's the card I have to watch out for if he uses that deck again.... .... .... ...! Hm.... A thought came to mind. Naruko stood up and opened her deck box, browsing her deck one last time. She had no intention of losing twice in a row -------- *

His PDA beeped as he sat in the bed of his hotel room, his bed covered in cards as he revamped his deck, and seeing if he could make a second deck. Checking what it was about, he saw it was Naruko wanting the rematch. "Funny, I thought it would be a few more days..." he muttered, figuring he would gain the challenge on the last day. Cleaning up, he packed his cards and threw on a long coat, heeding the windy weather. He also took a cowboy hat he bought yesterday and placed it on his head for shade before strapping his duel disk onto his left arm and his deck in the box on his belt. last thing he took was a book full of small tales about cards to pass the time before he got there. Locking the door behind him as he headed out, he took to the entrance then the bus to the memorial park. Upon the bus ride, he read an interesting story about Kycoo. A small tale that followed a small myth. Spoiler: click to toggle (If you want to read or not XD I got bored and wrote it.)Upon arriving at the park, he stepped off and headed off. The wind was a bit strong true, but nothing too terrible. The long coat waved in the wind open-chested, but it wasn't too big of a concern. Upon seeing Naruko sitting there checking her deck, he casually headed forth. "Well, if it isn't Naruko once more. How have things been since we last met?" he said, pushing his glasses up. |

((OOC: XP And here I was, thinking you'd message her, saying you couldn't duel right now 'cause you're with Dani [XD Forgot about the 3-MEs rule].) IC: "Huh?" Naruko looked up from her deck for the first time in almost twenty minutes. "! Ah, Doki, y'made it!" She momentarily glanced at her deck. Thinking it was as good as it was going to get, her sights shifted to her duel disk on the bench. She said, as she put her deck in and attached it to her arm, "Good. 'Cause I'd tolerate nothing else. ...I thought you would message me anyway, though. Well~, no mater, no matter. It's about time I redeem myself, here." Disk was attached. Naruko nodded. She then dramatically pointed towards the Osiris teen. "Though yours was a good win, it was a lucky one," though it obviously wasn't, "and I have no intention of letting that happen again! So!" Holding out her equipped arm, she tightened her fist. The pressure sensor on the arm lock activated, turning on the cyclone duel disk. The multicolored orb began to glow. And once the disk transformed into battle mode, the orb began to turn. Slowly, it spun, quickly increasing its rotation speed until it seemed like a supersonic blur. Solid Vision was now active on her dueling device. "...Let's have at it!" |

He let off a small chuckle when he heard her call him Doki. "Doki... now that is the most interesting nickname I have gotten yet..." he chuckled as she got herself ready. He reached inside the long coat he wore and opened the case, removing the deck and slid it into the slot. he then waved his hand over his arm to activate the duel disk, the card platform moving forward, then the extra two slots popping out of the side, showing the faceplate of the Yin-Yang Katanas. "Let's duel!" he declared as the censors picked up each other's disks and locked onto each other.
"I will start things off," he stated, drawing the first card for round one and taking a glimpse at his hand. "First off, I start with Reasoning! You get to declare a monster level, and if the next monster is that level, it goes to the grave, if not, its special summoned to my field. Every other card also goes to the grave." As she thought it over, Douken thought, The main levels she has to select from is 3, 4, 5, and 7... any other results in a free summon. The level she declared was 4, so picking up the first card, it was surprisingly a monster. "Looks like my first monster is the Six Samurai - Irou, a level 4, so it heads to the grave," he said, placing it in the graveyard slot. "Alright, next up, I call to the front The Six Samurai, Zanji!" Throwing the card down in the monster zone, the hologram machines activating, bringing out a rainbow light that soon took shape of the futuristic feudal Japan samurai who carried a lance.
"Now, our last match, I thought I had to rely on this card to make sure I could easily pull off the win, but hearing you wanted a rematch, I still kept it in my side deck for quick access and an easy replacement. I now activate, Prohibition!" Behind Zanji, a wooden sign appeared with a blank front.
"And now as long as this sign stays up, the Self Destruct Button cannot be used in this duel!" and at that declaration, the white space was then occupied with her signature card's art. "After I lay two face down cards, it will be your turn,' he said, setting the two cards that appeared onto the field.

"Damn..." Naruko muttered under her breath as she stared at the continuous spell card Douken had used. If it wasn't for that.... "And my luck gets even worse...." She looked at her hand of 5 cards, namely the 'Inspection' and 'Self-Destruct Button' cards. "...I gotta find a way out of this mess...." "Right. My turn! Draw!" She drew her sixth card. "!!" A card-drawing spell card had just appeared. "Alright! Maybe I can work around Prohibition with this...! ...Here goes...!" "Okay, now... I activate a spell card: Allure of Darkness! I get to draw two cards. And if I don't remove a DARK monster in my hand from play, I lose my entire hand...!" The brunette drew two cards. After a bit of thought, she took her 'Dark Mimic LV1' monster and put it in her pocket, essentially removing it from play. "I didn't get what I needed... but I can hold him off for a bit. ...He's got 1 card in his hand. Odds are, if it was that Grandmaster card, he would have Special Summoned it for protection, using its recovery effect. That said, it likely isn't that card.... ...It could still be the Great Shogun Shien, though.... Douken needs at least 2 samurai on the field to summon it, so it could show up as soon as next turn...." She looked at her hand again. ".... ...I'm going for it...! If the Kamon one shows up, I'm in trouble.... ...And if one of those face-downs is what I think it is...." She recalled the trap card that hindered her strategy last time. She was able to overcome it, but in the end, Shien was the real problem. She placed Allure of Darkness in the grave slot. Then, taking hold of a card in her hand, she played it. "I activate Messenger of Peace!" The spell card's hologram appeared on the field...
But it was effectively shot down. With the activation of Douken's Solemn Judgment card, the young man negated Messenger and destroyed it, at the cost of half his life points.
Not only did he prevent Naruko's defense, he also lowered his life points, making Naruko's method of tieing the game more difficult than it already was with Prohibition. Naruko noticed this and was even more frustrated. "It's like everything's hitting me all at once...!! ...Rrrgh...!" She grabbed another card and slapped it down. "Summoning Mind Protector in attack mode!"
"Now your monsters can't attack if they have 2000 attack points or less...!" Assuming he didn't have any Psychic-Type monsters. "I end my turn...!" To which, Douken activated his 'Swiftstrike Armor' trap card during her End Phase.

"Ready yourself!" he said, drawing a card... Hello Shien... he thought adding it into his hand which held a second one. Good chance she is going to be careful with Shien, since it threw her off in our first duel. "I have nothing to play, and without being able to attack, its your move."

"Phew," she sighed in relief. "Looks like I guessed right. ...But that means nothing if I can't come back from this...." "I draw, then! ...! .... Standby Phase!" She pointed to her lone monster on the field. "I pay a mandatory cost of 500 Life Points during each Standby Phase Mind Protector is face-up on my field...!"
"Next... I'll switch my monster to Defense mode..."
"and drop a card face-down in both places!" Naruko placed a card in one of her Spell and Trap Card Zone slots and a monster face-down in Defense position. The energy she exuded through her motions showed that she wasn't out quite yet. she brushed her bangs a bit as the wind briefly picked up. "Turn's over...! Your move." --------- Naruko's LP: 7500 Naruko's Field: M1: M2: M3: Mind Protector [DEF: 2200] M4: [F/D] M5: S1: S2: S3: [F/D] S4: S5: Edited by Rina Kasakura, Aug 13 2009, 10:35 PM.

"The question is how long you can keep that up," he said, drawing his next card. "Looks like a nice draw indeed, because I now play The Warrior Returning Alive!" he said, putting it into play.
"And thanks to the failed attempt of reasoning, I now have a warrior in my graveyard to bring back," he said as Irou popped out from his graveyard and he placed it into his hand. "Now why wait to use him? I summon The Six Samurai - Irou!" Slapping the card next to Zanji, the samurai in dark armor appeared beside his counterpart, placing the monster duo together.
"Now, time to say 'Hi' to an old friend. Great Shogun Shien, come forth!" As the light started to come forth to bring his strongest card out, Naruko hastefully triggered her own Solemn Judgment.
This only made Douken laugh. "Wow... I guwess you do not want to see your old friend after all... Well, he was so eager in seeing you, he came to me not once, but twice!" he declared, slapping down a second Great Shogun Shien to the field.
"I am sure I do not need to remind you on what he does, do I? it was still funny though. In our first doel, you said you went against the samurai before. How come you acted in such a suck when you learned of Shien's effect during that moment? "Either way... i guess its time to do some damaged... starting with your 'protection' there... Shien, wipe out her Mind Protector!" He declared. Shien stepped forth and unsheathed his blade and slashed her protection in half. "irou, wipe out her face down!" His Irou's dark blade pulsating with his comrade nearby, he slashed through the facedown Cat of Ill Omen like nothing... not giving it a chance to gain its FLIP effect. "Zanji, direct strike!" With her field open, Zanji zoomed in close before cleaving her with the lance, inflicting serious damage on her life points.
"So, what will you do now? My turn ends here..."

"E--ugh.... .... ...." The wind blew her hair every which way. "Two of them...?? Already...!? After all that... to still be done in by--.... ....Ugh...!" Naruko glanced away, then at the new Osiris, a promotion that Naruko didn't know about. "Shien wasn't a problem before I faced this guy.... Why...-- .... ...How lucky can he be...??" After another look at her hand, and a moment to think... she began her turn. "Draw...! .... ...." ...Another 'Inspection.' Not even a Mystical Space Typhoon; a Gift Card; a second Allure of Darkness. Within, Naruko was greatly annoyed with how things turned out. It was never so much trouble to deal with an opponent. This had to be the worst instance of bad luck all week. Slamming down a monster, she announced, "I summon! Dark Mimic LV3, Attack mode!"
Why? Who knows. Maybe it was because of Irou; maybe it was because of... ".... ...." She looked at the card in her hand. ".... ...! I'll set a card face-down, as well! End Turn!" The face-down hologram emerged on the windy field. --------- Naruko's LP: 1950 Naruko's Field: M1: M2: M3: Dark Mimic LV3 [ATK: 1000] M4: M5: S1: S2: S3: [F/D] S4: S5: |

His long coat fluttered in the wind as he watched her move. "You played Dark Mimic in attack mode? Either you admit defeat, you you got something planned," he said, drawing his next card. "Or in the end, its just a bluff... Only one way to find out! Zanji, strike down her Dark Mimic!" Playing a risky menuvuer, he still took on the risk of a Mirror Force or Crush Card. The extra summonig would also risk Torrential Tribute, and he had enough power if it was a bluff. He watched to see if it was a bluff or not as the box became triangle pixels flying away in the wind.
Seems she bluffs after all... he thought as she drew a card thanks to the box's effect. "Irou, finish this duel!" The samurai in dark armor stood infront of Naruko, unsheathing the blade out slowly before her, letting it reflect her eyes back at her until it was completely unsealed. Raising the sharp edge high, he chopped downwards, inflicting the finishing blow.
"Well then," he said, pushing his hat up with his right index finger as the holograms faded. "Seems like another duel has come to a close..." |
