Vernon slowly ate his ice cream as he watched the duel taking place. He still tried to hide his injured leg but really couldn't he saw a card called Lava Golem which has been playedi n a way he never saw before. He looked as the orange headed Ra was putting a beating on the Sebek. He thought how he would feel in his first duel at the Academy. After thinking for a second, he decided to get back to the duel. |

--------- "Okay then. I'll draw to begin my turn!" She looked upon her drawn card. With an especially pleased grin, she added the card to her hand, starting the turn off with something else. "I add this monster to the field! Face-down; defense mode!" The face-down horizontal card illusion appeared on Rina's monster field to her far right. "Then I'll bring out my second Chain Energy spell card! This one will last!" Its hologram appeared. "Now let's see what you'll do about that. ...I end my turn." (OOC: Night~! "The second chain energy in Rina's deck appeared on the field. Looking for revenge after the last one got destroyed. This one however will be looking to do more damage." Thought Yukio "Ok, I draw my card." He looked at the card. Could come helpful. "Ok for my start, I tribute my Jinzo." Jinzo disappeared. "And I shall bring out another Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV 6!" "Chain~" Started Rina. "Nope, Horus the Black Flame's effect."
"And then I shall activate Smashing Ground! prepare to be destroyed Ancient Lamp!" Gam: (Yukio) 4400 --> 3900 Rina watched as her Lamp was destroyed by Smashing Ground. "End my turn there" He winked Edited by Yukio Jigoro, May 3 2008, 05:14 AM.

At this point, Rina was actually paying attention to the winking that she received. She hadn't kept count, but it was something that stood out. But that wasn't important. She knew the general theme of Yukio's deck and intended on dueling accordingly in whatever way she could. But even then, dueling according to the opposing theme doesn't mean victory.... Rina was fortunate to have Ancient Lamp and Spirit Reaper protect her. If they weren't there at the time, she'd probably be having a much tougher time holding out than she currently is. She was aware of that fact. "Then I guess I'll draw." Des Koala was drawn: the slow pace of the duel was slowly accelerating. "Hm~*. I can work with that," she thought, with a small grin expressed. Directing her attention to her opponent, she extended a hand towards one of her unknown, holographic monsters on the field. "Revealing face-down monster! Des Koala! .... Des Koala's flip effect activates!" She glanced at Yukio's hand of cards. "For every card you've got in your hand, my Des Koala inflicts 400 points of damage to your life points! I count 3!" It was then when Yukio recalled a card he had face-down. It wouldn't stop Des Koala's effect, but it was still worth activating. "At this time, I'll activate Dust Tornado!" Jinzo was no longer on the field to restrict its use. "And I'll use it to destroy Chain Energy!" The trap's hologram released a tornado onto the field. It wasn't strong enough to eliminate monsters, but Rina's Chain Energy would be history! ".... ...!" ...Actually, it looks like someone else, also, almost forgot to activate a card. "Chain's dead," Yukio added. "Not quite!" Grinning, due to raised interest in the duel, Rina motioned her hand to another face-down card, this time, a support card. "That's because it's time for a Chain Activation! Activating the trap card, Dark Bribe! It's a counter trap card that negates the effects of a spell or trap that I chain it to. .... But~, so you're not completely bummed out, Dark Bribe gives you a consolation card to make up for how easy it was to negate your other one." Yukio had no other counter traps to chain. And thus, resolutions began. "So go ahead a draw your card." After he did, Rina added one more important detail. Now, remember Des Koala's effect? Four hundred damage for each card in hand? Well, instead of having only 3 cards in hand, now you have 4, thanks to Dark Bribe. Which means that you'll be taking a 1600-point hit!" Des Koala's effect resolved, inflicting damage to Yukio's life point counter.
"Hm," she brushed the tip of her nose; she wasn't done with this speed increase just yet. She intended to make the most of it. ".... Now, I'll pay 500 of my life points..." Her Chain Energy card, as well as her duel disk, began to glow in a bright green light. Rina cringed as her life points were drained from her. There was a small bit of uncomfort, but since her life points had yet to be penetrated, there was little to no strain on her. "...to set a monster face-down. End turn. (OOC: 1. Sorry I didn't post, last night - was exhausted 2. Take note of my life point drop. I had forgotten to do it in the log. 3. Was the post okay? [a bit of godmodding]) |

(OCC: Yea twas fine ;)) Yukio cursed when Chain Energy was still on the field. He had to do something fast. "Draw!" He then looked at his hand to plan what to do next. "I will sacrifice 500 LPs to activate Mystical Space Typhoon!" Game: (Yukio) 2300 --> 1800 Chain energy then disappeared below. "Now thats out of the way, I shall play Shrink. It causes any monster on any side of the field's attack to be halved till the end of this turn. And I target Des Koala! Now say bye bye to your Koala! Horus attack him!" Yukio watched as the dragon roared and crushed the small helpless monster being tore to pieces. He watched the girl scream in pain at the lost of 1750 life points. Game: (Rina) 7500 --> 5750 "I shall go into my end phase and now my dragon's effect jumps into play. I shall tribute this, to special summon Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV8! Continue your turn now Rina" |

Rina staggered from the massive damage that she received. Having Des Koala targeted for an attack was expected, but when it comes to active dueling, the strength of the blows never really feel the way you expect them to. A bead of sweat formed as Rina contemplated her previous move, expressing a sense of seriousness across her face. When it was her turn to duel, Rina drew a card, then noticed that Yukio's Horus LV 6 didn't attack until she had an attack position monster that was easy to beat. Was he still waiting for something specific? Was it Jinzo? Was he trying to initiate a spell-and-trap support lock? Half of that lock was already in place with Horus LV 8 on the field: Rina's spell cards would become useless, were she to play any. She'd have to stick to monsters and traps for now. "One support, face-down! I'll end there." With Yukio's earlier decision to finally attack, Rina added to her spell and trap card zone in case of another attack. She also had a 'Plan B' in mind. Yukio watched the girl as she staggered, feeling gulity of what he had done. "I draw." He said quiet and took his card. " I shall activate my Pot of Avarice and bring back 5 monsters from my graveyard, back into my deck and I'll draw 2 cards! He put 'Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive, Twin-Headed Behemoth, Jinzo and 2 Horus the Black Flame Dragon back into his deck and drew. "I'll activate Enemy Controller and change the position of your Spirit Monster! But your monsters effect..... Spirit is dead." They both watched as the Spirit Reaper disappeared. "Now I end my turn Rina" |

Unphased by reaper's destruction, Rina began her turn with a feeling of discomfort, and the lack of her usual energy. "Ending again?" Rina inquired while visibly drawing her next card. She glanced at the card, sighed, then returned her attention back to Yukio with a look of concern. "I'm setting a support and ending. ...But before you start, I've gotta ask:" taking on a serious tone, "why do you keep holding back your attacks like that? At this rate, you won't have any chance of beating me at all." She showed genuine concern for his lack of aggression in an offensive deck. If it was any of the other duelists on the island, he wouldn't have lasted anywhere near as long as he has with this play style. Was he playing accordingly, as well? Or rather, what was he still aiming for at such a critical point in the duel? A hand on her hip, "I mean, yeah, you have to play carefully and all, but... letting me secure my field will definitely stop anything you eventually plan to dish out. ...I just don't understand what you're trying to accomplish, at this point...." "I see...." Rina glanced at her field of face-down cards. With the fact that Yukio didn't play a card on his turn, she potentially had two ways of ending the duel right now, instead of one. If he had attacked, maybe three, using Magic Cylinder that was set two of her turns ago. He probably didn't have Royal Decree face-down, but she was prepared to chain with her recently set Ceasefire if it came to that. She considered dragging out the duel, waiting for Yukio to get the card he needed so that she could try to fend it off and possibly prove a point about waiting for the right card. But then, she remembered saying to herself that she'd do her best in this duel. On top of that, holding back a victory just to muse the opponent seemed like something that showed a lack of respect to whoever she'd face. .... .... "If you have to wait for it, I guess I understand. .... I hope you understand, though, ...that I won't be giving you anymore time." With the confirmed fact that Yukio was solely waiting on a specific card, her maximum amusement level lowered slightly. A long duel without an amusing end: despite the fun and enjoyment that she had during the duel, an anti-climatic ending, always dwindles one's, or both duelists's energy, somewhat "I'll draw to begin my turn..." she announced as she did so. And without so much as looking at the drawn card, she revealed another. "Then I'll end the duel with this! Revealing my second Des Koala!" She flip summoned her face-down monster, believing that Yukio had no face-down support cards to negate its flip effect. "Its effect activates! Five cards in your hand, which means you're taking a hefty 2000 damage!" With only 1800 life points, this would end the duel! Believing that he had nothing to negate it, Rina announced, "Welcome to Crimson Wind Academy!" |
