Danielle watched him carefully as he played with her Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. She didn't want any damage to come to it-- not that it could really. But she did remember one particular instance when a friend of hers had scratched the glass eyes of a white tiger plushie she had owned as a child. But this person probably wouldn't do anything too bad to her dragon. The way he handled it was gentle. She smiled faintly. Then, he opened his jacket and produced a penguin. Danielle looked at it curiously. She didn't expect for a man dressed in a leather jacket to carry a penguin plushie around with him. It was quite a surprise. What was more of a surprise was when the penguin started to move. Danielle drew back a little bit at the sight of an actual animal walking around so close to her unexpectedly. Her surprise lasted only a moment. Danielle relaxed, and soon afterward the penguin jumped onto her leg. The little penguin looked up at her. Danielle smiled, and looked into the bird's eyes. The bird's owner spoke up. "I think she likes you." "Really? She's pretty cute~" Danielle glanced at him, and continued on in a slightly more serious voice. "But is everyone really okay with you having a penguin? I thought penguins needed some special attention or something, Rou." Rounin-- that was his name. She smiled, glad to have finally remembered it. |

Rou's arms extended to either side of himself, stretching out as far as they could go, and as far back at they could go, stretching the muscles out, and popping the joints in his elbows. He kept a secure grip on Dani's plushie toy in his right hand, making sure that he didn't drop it while he stretched. He couldn't help but grin as he watched Dani jump lightly as his penguin walked over, and hopped from his knee to her's. His sapphire blue eyes glanced around for a moment, taking in the receptionist a second time making sure that they had seen nothing. It appeared as if the lobby had become deserted during the time since he had come down here. Perhaps the rest of the students were already upstairs, or at dinner, or something. Rou wasn't entirely sure, and he really couldn't care for the most part. However, in the back of his mind, a nagging thought pulled at him, making him wonder just where his giant oafish friend was. Rou's fingers continued to dance delicately around the toy, smiling with his lips, but frowning with his eyes all the while. His eyes were torn between the toy, and between Danielle, and her interaction with his little pet. She glanced down into his little Arctic Bird's eyes, and she stared back. As he watched, the little bird teetered forward on her leg until it reached her torso, where she sat down, and rested her head on her stomach. Rou couldn't help but grin at his adorable little bird. It was so easy for the cute little thing to steal people's heart's, especially when she liked them. She had even gone so far as to roost herself on Dani's leg, indicating, to Rou, that she trusted her. It was enough to make even the coldest hearts smile. Dani told him how cute she was, and Rou couldn't help but smile and nod as he gave a small squeeze to her plushie. He enjoyed the feeling of the toy in his hand, the soft texture, and the pleasant squish that it gave. He was careful, however, not to squeeze to hard, lest he break the toy, and upset Dani. She then addressed the issue of him having his little bird. He couldn't help but wince slightly as she inquired into this matter, as Rou wasn't a hundred percent certain. He had looked up some things, and he had tried his best to take extremely good care of the little girl, and so far, she seemed to be pretty content with her living arrangements. Maybe it was a little toasty for her, but he was trying to keep her okay; after all, keeping her with him was certainly better than leaving her on that chunk of ice he had found her on by herself. "There are situations surrounding her that you don't know about, Dani. I found her not far off the shores of the academy, and somehow, I feel like I need to keep her around. I can't say that anyone but you, Kai, and Ami knows about her, but I'd imagine that the staff wouldn't be too pleased if they found out," Rou said with a pleading smile. He looked down, somewhat guilt ridden by his keeping the penguin in what could be considered unsafe living conditions. His eyes stayed on the floor, and his hands remained wrapped unmoving around her plushie. He didn't squeeze it anymore, but rather, he kept his hands gripped loosely around it. When he finally did glance up, he saw Dani smiling, and eased up a bit, taking her smile as an indication that perhaps she understood. |

Danielle averted her eyes from him, but let her hand brush against the bird gently. She lowered her voice. "Well, I guess they wouldn't be too pleased. I don't think you're really allowed to have pets at the Academy, and I'm sure they wouldn't appreciate a student raising a pet that's probably like endanged or something...." She glanced at him briefly, noting his reaction. She flashed him a reassuring smile, and then looked away once more. "But I guess if you're doing a good job raising her and making sure she has a comfortable home, there's no problem really." She looked back to the penguin, as if to confirm from her that she was in fact being provided with a good home. Danielle smiled and nodded. |

The adorable little bird tilted her head slightly to the side as Dani looked down at her. She wouldn't have noticed, having been turned to the side, however she felt her moving beneath her. When she felt this, she pulled her head up, as if to look disapprovingly up at her for disrupting the comfort of her resting place. Rou grinned as he heard Dani's words, breathing a sigh of relief as he took her words in. He wasn't a hundred percent sure of what she was saying, but he didn't think that she was going to tell on him. She had smiled to him, and the smile told a story in his mind, of everything being okay. He may have been wrong about her intent, but he could always hope she had no intention of getting him in trouble. He then glanced down, and realized that he had been squeezing the plushie a bit tighter than he had meant to. His knuckles looked white from how tightly he had been squeezing, in fact. How had he only just noticed this, when he had been so careful to keep his grip light on the toy. He fumbled around with the toy, flipping it around so that he could see all of its angles. It appeared that the toy was okay; completely in tact, and uninjured, despite his grip. He still couldn't believe the deathgrip he had put on the thing, despite his nerves. He had been so careful to avoid potentially causing it any harm, yet there he had been, squeezing the life out of it like it was his own toy. With a sigh, he extended his arm and placed the plushie toy gently on the table, not sure if Dani had seen it. He shuffled his tennis shoes across the carpet, sliding them as far out as they could, and stretching the muscles in his legs. He yawned loudly as he glanced over to a clock on the wall. He rolled his eyes at the time, and glanced back over at Dani. He recalled her being in here when he had arrived, and thought for a moment. He wasn't sure, but maybe she would know. He articulated his thoughts, trying to think of an adequate description, given that she needed one. When at last his thoughts were composed, he finally asked her. "Hey Dani, have you seen Kai around? It's getting late, and he's still not back," Rou said with frown. |

Danielle looked up at him briefly. Kai must be the name of his friend. She had often seen them together, even if she wasn't too sure of either of their names. But at least she knew the boy he was looking for. "Kai? No, I haven't seen him. Sorry." She did not ask about Billie. Rounin probably wouldn't have seen her around. Danielle needed her to open the door to their room. Until then, she'd wait at the entrance to the hotel for her roommate to show up. But if Billie took any longer, Danielle might have to track Rina down. She really needed some rest after her long and eventful day. Hopefully Aoi wouldn't mind too much, if it came to that. |

Rou breathed a sigh of discontentment as she confirmed his suspicions. He had figured that Kai hadn't beaten him back to the hotel, but the hope had still existed that perhaps he had managed to make it here first, and that he was just waiting upstairs in their room. However, if he couldn't have possibly beaten him here by more than a minute. "Well, that's too bad. Monster's gonna make us all three worry," he said with a bitter smile toward her. He then turned his attention to the floor, trying to think of what he had been going to do. He hadn't been going to do anything dangerous; nothing that Rou should've had to worry about him going to do by himself, but here he was, not here, and here was Rou waiting for him. Of course, the possibility of a car hitting the motorcycle was the most inevitable thought for Rou. Even someone as monstrous, and as durable as Kai wouldn't be able to take a side swipe on a motorcycle. He'd have to check the hospital, but as of right now, it seemed like trying to get back out would be met with little to no success, since Byakuya appeared to be situated behind the receptionist desk. Rou rolled his eyes, deciding that he was probably just being an idiot, and doing something stupid. Of course, he couldn't be sure as of right now. He pulled out his iPhone, and clicked to his recent calls. He had no missed calls, and no voicemails. He then pushed into the only indentation on the face of the screen, pulling up the home screen. With a quick glance, he saw no missed text messages, and no missed e-mails either, which did not help to ease his mind. He sighed and pocketed the phone again, closing his eyes and pressing his thumb and forefinger together at the second joint. He then raised the fingers, and massaged his forehead with the fingers, extending them outward until they reached his temples. He then applied pressure to each temple, rolling his eyes behind their closed lids, and exhaling some of his aggravation. He was a mess of emotions, from worry to annoyance, however he was in the company of another. It was extremely rude to continue to show her so little attention like this, and that was not something Rou felt particularly interested in doing. However, with his emotional condition being as it was, he felt like he was better off by himself than with company, but it would be rude to simply stand up and walk off. "Hey Dani, why don't we go hang out tomorrow? See a movie or something? I'd like to talk to you some more, but right now's not the best time," he said looking up at her at last. He smiled a sincere smile, but his eyes were filled with restlessness, as well as fear, and worry. |

Danielle looked up quickly. She wasn't quite sure what Rou had in mind, but she didn't particularly have any plans for the following day. Vaguely, she wanted to spend some time with Billie since they'd been seeing each other a lot less often these past months. But she hadn't seen Billie all day today even. And Billie was still out. But she'd come back, eventually. At least Danielle hoped so. But as for tomorrow, if it really came down to it, Billie had Rina and Sakaki to be with. They might possibly be interested in coming to see a movie... it wasn't very often that they got to go to the movies at the island, since there wasn't a theatre. She could probably take advantage of the opportunity that had presented itself without too much trouble. "Well, alright. I don't have a problem with that at all." At the very least, she'd tell Rina and Billie about her plans. They could probably come along if they wanted to... but she wasn't going to make them come. And she was going to go. It was as simple as that. She smiled at Rounin, and offered his penguin back to him. |

He smiled thoughtfully, and extended his hand to her's, brushing his fingers lightly across her hand. He shivered lightly at the contact, and his smile widened as the little bird hopped off Dani's hand and into his own. Pausing for a moment, making sure that the bird had readjusted its grip, as well as to allow another moment of the brief contact with Dani. However, when the moment had passed, he pulled his hand back. "Good. I'll meet you here in the early afternoon, but you may wanna bring a jacket," he said with a sly smile as he leaned back into the cushy leather chair he sat in. He closed his eyes for a moment, and thought about how he would spend the day with Dani tomorrow. He lowered his hand to his chest, and his Penguin hopped off of his hand and into his inner jacket pocket. He brushed his hand through his flowing brown locks, and then extended his arms out, stretching the muscles and popping the joints that connected the bones. He then yawned, and glanced over to a clock nested behind the desk of the receptionist. He figured that if Kai hadn't shown up by now, the odds were significantly against him showing up period. He knew Kai was likely fine, but he still couldn't help but worry about the kid a bit. He would have to take a look around for him tomorrow, if he didn't turn up after his time with Dani. However, until then, he decided his time would be better spent doing something productive. He then dug his hands into the soft material of the arms of the chair, and pushed off, launching himself into a standing position. He then arched his back, straightening until he was beginning to bend over backward. "Well Dani, I guess I'll see you tomorrow. Would you like me to walk with me to the elevators? I know I can't walk you to your room or anything, buuut.... I figured maybe it'd be almost as good," he said with a devilish smile, trying to extend his time with her. His voice filled with a bit of flirtatious playfulness, though he was still maintaining a serious, kind, respectful tone of voice while he went about it. His blue eyes glanced down, into her own deep blue-green eyes, a smile ablaze within his eyes. "Of course, if you'd rather stay here, that's fine too," he said keeping his hand at his side, but a bit forward, so as to be able to reach out and take her hand and help her up, given that she chose to be escorted by him. His cheeks flushed only lightly to create a soft pink on his golden tan skin, which created a unique effect. Perhaps, however, if he was lucky, she would simply attribute it to wearing a leather jacket inside the warm lobby. |

Danielle pulled her Dragon plushie back to her side of the table. She smiled at him politely. "Well, thank you for offering, but I'm actually waiting for someone. I need to make sure I don't miss them when they walk in through those doors." She set her Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon on top of her sketchbook, and glanced at the door again. If Billie walked in when she wasn't looking, then she'd have no way of opening the door in their hotel room. That would be really bad. She couldn't miss her roommate, or else she'd have to find somewhere else to sleep tonight. |

He winced slightly at the rejection, but rubbed it off with a quick glance to the side. His cheeks flushed a brighter shade of pink, but he kept himself composed other than those two small tell signs of embarrassment. To try and keep her from noticing them, he stretched again; so much so that his face became completely invisible to her when he had completed his stretch. When he straightened up, all but a slight flush of pink was gone from his face. His eyes were calm, and collected, and kept the shyness he felt now from being visible. He sighed lightly, and shoved his hands deep into his pockets, He looked down, and pondered for a moment before deciding that he needed to speak now, and then he would just head upstairs. "Well, like I said, don't forget about that jacket. Maybe pants too, though I guess that's more your choice. Don't blame me if you get cold though," he said with a faint smile before turning on his heel, and raising his hand. "See ya Dani, good night. Hope your friend shows up soon. If you need any help, you can get in touch with me." OOC: Short post is short, but leaving has never been my strong point! O_O |
