'Impossible' is just a word the weak use to make themselves feel better.

Demitri entered the Library, his frustrations at what had transpired still raging in his mind. Upon entering the library, however, all his anger left him. Instead, he stared in awe at his surroundings. It was the most spectacular selection of books he had ever seen. The sheer overwhelming number of tomes the great building contained was beyond comprehension. Countless shelves of volumes of all shapes and sizes were spread throughout the massive, three story building. Numerous chairs, tables, and even the occasional sofa were scattered throughout the aisles beckoning those who dwelled there to sit for a spell. There was even several stations where one could grab a small drink or something light to snack on. One could only assume it would take a lifetime to read it all...and it seemed as though the school was well prepared to make sure that those who endeavored to do so were free to do just that. A wide grin on his face, Demitri searched through the shelves until he found a section that caught his eye. He had always been a huge fan of fictional tales and stories of ancient mythology, and by chance he had just stumbled upon the kind of collection he had only seen in his dreams. "What a splendid turn of events!" He said, temporarily forgetting about the events that had transpired just a short while prior. Picking out a book at random whose title he couldn't quite pronounce, he located a nearby lounge chair and sat down into it. Sinking deep into the cushions, he kicked back and began to read. "They think he commited...SUICIDE?" Demitri couldn't believe what he had just heard. The news about the now-identified corpse from the Monorail tracks had completely engulfed his thoughts now as the new details about the tournament were left to the wind. He reached into his pocket, quickly producing his cell phone. Looking through the photos that he had taken, he settled on the pair that contained the wounds on the boys neck and torso. They were quite large really...unlike those that would have been inflicted by a dagger or knife. Furthermore...there had been no such weapon at the scene. "What the hell are they thinking!? How could they possibly...?" Demitri caught himself. Actually...it made perfect sense. Had they announced Kouji's death as a murder, that would imply that there was someone at the academy with the intent to kill. The student body would be in an uproar, and would no doubt be thrown into a state of utter chaos and disarray. Perhaps that was the intent of the murderer in the first place... Regardless, it was no doubt a decision made by the Headmaster to soften the blow that Kouji's death would cause. The fact that Demitri had allowed himself to become so riled was proof that he had done nothing more than fallen into the trap laid out by the one who had orchestrated the death of the young man. Such a thought was infuriating. "Dammit..." Leaning back in his seat, Demitri looked at the ceiling. A mural was painted there depicting several scenes of combat between what appeared to be humans and several different types of creatures. One particular scene depicted a mighty dragon wiping out a large platoon of soldiers with it's immeasurable power. Such strength...what a magnificent creature... Demitri said, staring at the work. Demitri had always had a fascination with the great beasts. They were known for being arguably the most destructive force in nature, but also refrained from using that indomitable strength until provoked. They were also believed to have a keen intellect that far surpassed that of even the most brilliant human minds. Many cultures worshipped them as gods because of these traits, and they were the reason behind Demitri's near-obsession with them. Gazing upon the work was the inspiration he needed. Worrying about the future would do nothing, and it wasn't a practice that he enjoyed anyways. Whatever was lurking on the island would be dealt with...that much he was sure of. Getting up, he set the book back into it's place and exited the library. [To: Unknown] |
