Here it was at last-- the promised land... Kaiba Land! Danielle walked across the courtyard just beyond the main entryway. Somehow, she had gotten separated from Billie and Sakaki in the crowd. She continued to search the courtyard for any sign of them. If she had only remembered to bring her PDA, she could see if it still had service away from the island and could contact them that way. Unfortunately, she had left it in her hotel room in her rush to take her morning shower after breakfast. She had been so focused on not missing the bus that she had left it behind. Nothing she could do about it now.

A girl with white hair appeared momentarily on the other side of the courtyard. Danielle began to move towards her. The girl disappeared, and then reappeared some distance away. Her excited energy certainly made her look like Billie. However, as Danielle approached, she saw her face more clearly-- and also the camera around the girl's neck. Danielle stopped and made a face. It should have made her happy to see the closed-off and shy Sky smile so much, but it didn't. Sky was not the girl Danielle was looking for. She sighed and turned around. Suddenly, she was looking someone else in the eyes.

Douken had on his back a giant Test Tiger plushie on his back facing the Ra student he had for his first hour. "Danielle?" he asked, making sure it was her. His left eye was slightly looking inwards thanks to his lazy eyes and he was only seeing her through the right one, the left being "turned off" at the moment. "You seem a little lost..."

About the plushie.. Well, it was a prize he got from a nearby stand that did duel puzzles. Solving 5 in a row got him the Tiger. There were others, but he liked this one most, so it was the one he got.

Danielle blinked. This young man knew her name. She had to know him from somewhere. She tried to place him. He was obviously a student at the Academy. She smiled at him, noting his giant plushie Test Tiger.

"Hi! .... um, yeah. I guess I am a bit lost. I kind of got separated from my friends."

She glanced around momentarily, but did not see her companions nearby. She smiled again, and looked at his plushie Duel Monster.

"Oh well, I'm sure they'll turn up. ...So, what did you win?"

"Why don't you just call them from your PDA? Just tell them where you are and they would find you. This place is easy to spot," he answered, unknowingly she didn't have it on her. It was the first solution to came to mind so it was the first one he stated.

When she questioned the prize, he just shrugged and answered, "Just this Test Tiger plushie over there," he said, pointing at the table where they did the puzzles. "YOu just had to answer a few puzzles really. The more you got right, the better the prize. Max is * with the prize a huge Blue Eyes... But what else do you expect from Kaiba Corp and the owner's signature card?" he laughed. "Being a CWA student means you get a discount if you want to try it or not."

Danielle laughed nervously. Of course her PDA would have worked, but she had forgotten it. And so it would necessarily be impossible for her to send a message to her friends-- she didn't have their ID numbers memorized, after all!

"Ehe~ Well, I happen to have forgotten my PDA back at the Hotel. So, I'll just have to find them on my own. But don't worry, I'm sure I'll run into them soon enough."

She casually waved her hand, dismissing the problem of finding her missing friends. The park was big, but she was sure that they'd meet up. One time, she'd lost her cousin once at a similar amusement park back home, and the two had been reunited on the complete opposite side of the park while they waited in line for the same ride. Billie and Sakaki would spontaneously appear sometime. For now, her best bet was to put them out of her mind and to have a good time. And that Duel Puzzle challenge seemed like a good place to start.

"Yeah, but that Puzzle game sounds like it might be pretty fun! You don't mind going back, do you?"

"Not at all. I can even help show you how it works," he said, leading the way to the table. It seemed like a simple table-play duel that seemed one turn away from victory as another person was thinking of the solution. "You see, the puzzle you are given is drawn from that deck over there,' he pointed over. "It is just full of monsters, but depending on the monster depends on the puzzle type. So if you draw a Lightsworn, you deal with a Lightsworn puzzle. Then depending on how far you have gotten, they select what difficulty the puzzle is at and set it up. Most of the time, it is set at your turn and at a situation where you can win on that turn if you set it up right."

Watching the kid, he leaned over the table and flipped over the set defense monster that was his opponents. "Oh yeah, you also have the ability to see all our opponent;s cards, no matter the position. You can also look though the deck and see what remains, but usually the held would hold 0-5 cards." The child tried to play though against the "opponent" who ran the booth, but was short 100 LP. "It is always a Life Point victory because it is always Win on this Turn." The child recieved a 3 wins prize with was a Rescue Cat the size of a real cat. "You want to have a go at this?"

Danielle nodded enthusiastically.

"Mhm! This looks like it'll be pretty fun!"

She walked up to the man running the game. He had light green hair and pale gray eyes. He was dressed in an Egyptian-inspired uniform of the workers in Kaiba Land, but he had added a few replica artifacts to it to give it a little more flavor and to make him stand out as a game booth person as opposed to a regular worker.

"Hello there! Are you here to try some Duel Puzzles?"

"I am!"

She paid the necessary (discounted!) fee, and heard a brief explanation of the rules again, this time from the man running the game. She was ready to play. He directed her to the puzzle table.

"Alright, let's find out what puzzle you'll start off with. Choose one of the cards, miss."

He set down three cards from the deck face-down on the table. Danielle looked at the backs of them carefully. She picked up the card on her left and turned it over. Before her was the monstrous Five-Headed Dragon. She really hadn't expected to see a fusion monster come out of the deck, but he never said the puzzle deck was built according to the same rules as a normal deck. It only made sense that it could contain any type of card.

"Alrighty, Five-Headed Dragon it is. An excellent choice, miss. I'll get the puzzle ready for you now."

The young man scooped up the cards on the table and took out the cards necessary for the puzzle from behind the counter. He quickly put them down on the field to create the duel puzzle.

"The Five Headed Dragon? This will be an interesting puzzle indeed. Wonder what cards would be placed.. Either way, just like the cards placed are not normal construction, they also don't look at the newest ban list, which means that some cards that may appear are not allowed in duels, but what do you expect from older puzzles," he laughed.

The runner soon finished up his set and it looked like this:

Opponent

100 LP
M1 = Face Down Needle Worm
M2 = FGD DEF.

All S/T = ~

Hand = Empty

Deck = Empty

Graveyard = Blue Eyes White Dragon, Spear Cretin, Luster Dragon, Spirit Ryu, Luster Dragon

RFP = None

Danielle's Side

600 LP

M1 = Banisher of the Light DEF
M2=Golden Himunculus

All S/T = ~

Hand: Soul Release, Helios Duos Megistus, Giant Trunade, The Helios - The Primordial Sun

Deck = 5 cards (unimportant)

Graveyard = 3 D.D. Dynamite, 2 D.D. Assailent

RFP = ~

"It is Main Phase one, and you must win by LP damage. Good luck," he stated.

((hope you can see this good enough...))

"Okay! So...."

Danielle looked over the cards on the field. This puzzle didn't seem too complicated, but she'd still have to be careful not to make a mistake. She did the math in her head, and double-checked each of the cards. She smiled. She had the solution.

"Okay, first I'm going to change Banisher of the Light to Attack Position."

Banisher of the Light
Effect Monster
[100 ATK]
As long as this card remains face-up on the field, any card sent to the Graveyard is removed from play instead.

"And then... I'll play Helios - The Primordial Sun."

Helios - The Primordial Sun
Effect Monster
[? ATK]
The ATK and DEF of this card become the number of monsters that are removed from play x100 points.

"And I'll promptly Tribute him for Helios Duo Megistus."

Helios Duo Megistus
Effect Monster
[? ATK]
You can Special Summon this card by Tributing 1 "Helios - the Primordial Sun". This card's ATK and DEF are equal to the number of removed from play monsters x200. If this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, Special Summon it during the End Phase, and it gains 300 ATK and DEF.

"And I'll set Soul Release face-down, so I can use Giant Trunade to return it to my hand."

Giant Trunade
Spell Card
Return all Spell and Trap Cards to their respective owners' hands.

"Now, I'll actually play Soul Release and remove every card in my Graveyard... except one D.D. Dynamite. And I'll remove the Spear Cretin from my opponent's Graveyard."

Soul Release
Spell Card
Select up to five cards from either your or your opponent's Graveyard(s) and remove them from play.

Danielle's hand was now empty. She looked at the monsters she had on the field.

Field
Danielle Chirel
Banisher of Light [100 ATK]
Golden Homunculus [3600 ATK]
Helios Duo Megustus [800 ATK]

"Now, currently I don't have enough points to break through Five-Headed Dragon, but that's not going to be a problem. I'll have Helios Duo Megustus attack the face-down Needle Worm...."

Needle Worm
Flip Effect Monster
[600 DEF]
FLIP: Discard the top 5 cards of your opponent's Deck to the Graveyard.

"Since my Banisher is on the field, all of those cards are removed from play instead."

Needle Worm shattered, and the five cards of Danielle's deck were removed from play.

Golden Homunculus
Effect Monster
[5100 ATK] / [1500 base ATK]
Increase the ATK and DEF of this card by 300 points for each of your cards that is removed from play.

"That's more like it. Golden Homunculus, attack Five-Headed Dragon! And then, Banisher of the Light, finish the duel!"

Opponent's LP

[0 LP]

"Alright! What's next!"

Danielle smiled, eagerly awaiting the next puzzle.

"yes, some of these older puzzles are a little easy, but some times it helps to know the effects," Douken said the stand owner was clearing up the mat and setting up a second puzzle. "And right now, you get something from over there," he said pointing at the bin that held small Kuriboh, Watapon, and other small monsters that were small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. "And who knows, maybe its the older puzzles we can zoom though easily." and on that note, the secon puzzle was already set because of the smaller number of cards.

Opponent's Field

5500 LP
M1=Despair from the Dark

Danieele's Field

100 LP
M1=Hayabusa Knight
M2=Gearfried the Iron Knight
M3=Armed Samurai - Ben Kei

S/T1 = Lightning Blade -> M1
S/T2 = Fusion Sword Murasame Blade -> M2
S/T3 = Divine Sword Phoenix Blade -> M3
( "->" = "equipped to")

Hand = Gilford the Legend

"This may seem to odd seeing Gearfried equpped, but because of the Fusion Sword's effect to negate the ability to destroy it, it is the only equip card to go on Gearfried," Douken replied.
