Divine Knight of Shining Armour
.:|Character Information|:.

Name: Chandler, Keith (KC)

Age: 14

Dorm: Osiris Red

Grade/Year: First Year

Gender: Male

Race: One-quarter Japanese, Three-quarters European mix (French, Polish, German and English)

Height: Five feet, three inches

Weight: 110 pounds

Eye Color: Brown around the center, surrounded by a blue-grey ring around the outside of his irises

Hair Color: Very dark brown, almost black.

Personality: Most of the time, Keith is content to remain in the background... or at least he pretends to be. In most aspects, he’s just an average kid who happened to catch a break getting accepted to CWA (he still isn’t sure whether or not he’s worthy of being here), but there’s more to him than what meets the eye. On first inspection, he’s usually pretty reserved, albeit seemingly distracted.

Keith is plenty smart, but rarely chooses to apply himself and tends to daydream in class. On a good day, he has the attention span of a four-year-old child... and on a bad day? Well, let’s just say that it’s not pretty. The only exception to this rule is when he chooses to hyperfocus, blocking out all external stimuli and completely concentrating on one thing. He can only do this for a set amount of time per day (depending on how much sleep he’s gotten) and it isn’t atypical to see him use this when dueling. After all, this is how he got good at chess when he still played regularly.

One thing you must know about Keith is that he incredibly touchy-feely. When he sees one of his friends, it is difficult for him to resist running up at them from behind and giving them a big hug. Most of the time, he is also not very competitive, preferring to let other people take center stage. Prestige doesn’t attract him as much as it does other people; he doesn’t usually care about living up to whatever society deems as normal, which has gotten him into some sticky situations before because sometimes he speaks without thinking first.

Defining Characteristics: He always wears a scarf, no matter what the weather is. He also carries around a wooden chess piece (a white knight) in his pocket and constantly fiddles with it while he’s in class or just walking around.

Physical Appearance: Keith’s a fairly ordinary-looking partly-Asian kid. Much to his chagrin, he received most of his looks from his father with only his dark hair and eyes like his mother. His hair hangs well past his shoulders and he usually keeps it tied back, with a few strands hanging into his face. His skin is fairly light in color.

He normally dresses in casual jeans and a long-sleeved t-shirt. It is very rare he wears anything distinct, other than some sort of scarf. All in all, his style of dressing is fairly casual and such that it would be hard to pick him out of a crowd.

Known Relatives: Keith Chandler, Sr. (Father). Rem Takigawa (Mother). Siblings: Lisa (sister, 13), Megan (sister, 10), Natalie (sister, 9). Cousin: Aislynn Celeste (24)

Biography: Keith Chandler, Junior was the first of four children born to Keith Chandler, Senior and Rem Takigawa (yes, they are married, but Rem didn’t want to take her husband’s last name) on May 7 in a rather small hospital in Walla Walla, Washington. About a year after he was born, Rem gave birth to Lisa. Despite fighting like most siblings, Keith and Lisa were very close. They were both in the same class at a small private school (Northwood Christian Elementary) where their mother worked part-time. His father was (and actually still is) a corrections officer at the state penitentiary.

One of Keith’s favorite activities was chess. Anna, one of the girls in his class, taught him how to play when they were in third grade and he then proceeded to teach Lisa. From a very early age, Keith was able to play – and often win at – a variety of chess variants, his favorite being Kriegspiel (slight variant of blindfold chess). Quickly, he became bored of improving his chess skills and when he was twelve, he found another game that could hold his attention: Duel Monsters.

Keith actually learned to play Duel Monsters from a close friend and cousin of his, Aislynn Celeste. She taught him all the rules and even helped him set up his first deck (the deck he usually uses even now). It was only a few months prior to coming to Crimson Wind Academy that he attended his first duel, a local event. Unfortunately, he wasn’t used to the level of competition he found and didn’t play as well as he’d hoped. But he found out about the Academy at the duel, decided to send in his application and see what would happen.

About a month after he sent the paperwork in, he left on a plane for the Academy, along with the blessing of his family and close friends. When he finally arrived at the Academy and completed his entrance exam, he discovered that all the students were on a field trip, so he has gone there to join them...

Hyperfocus ¬_¬

This sounds suspiciously like JeY's psychofocus ¬_¬

Doesn't matter now since he's dead.

I'll have to play you at chess someday.

I wouldn't underestimate someone like the Divine Knight though.

Great power lies within him.

But will he use that power to make a name for himself or will he keep it hidden, blunt due to lack of use.

We will see someday.

Keith is pretty good at chess IRL.

I was thinking about the similarity of hyperfocus, and came to the same conclusion. Plus it doesn't have any like super-special-awesome sort of powers/abilities. It seems more like a natural focus. inb4 JeY whose eyes change color <_<

And I'm not going to let Keith be a Sebek <_< And no I'm not grading Keith's test.

If you are not grading his test and he still scores Green, then he needs to work for red and up like us!

I used to be skilled at Chess.

The moves, the strategies, they all came naturally to me.

I haven't played in a long time and hence, my ability has been dulled.

Still, I'd like to play him sometime.

JeY is Sexy.
Hyperfocus is watered-down psychofocus. WTF, you stole JeY's ability DX

Now I have to bring him back to life... Well, it's happened before, hasn't it? What if he woke up during his funeral XD

And Dani, JeY only has -any- power due to the light he recieves - psychofocus never gave him any of that - it's basically super concentration, racing 100 compelte thoughts a second on one thing, and becomes completely oblivious to whatever he's not focusing on, and it drains his energy and causes him to be a lot more tired >_>

I'd like to psychofocus vs hyperfocus duel >_>

but srsly, you stole from me DX

Also Jey's psychofocus was harder to activate and changes eye color. It also compeltely drains of him of any emotion.

Yes, you will just do the exam for him.

If Bandit Keith wants to nail this exam, then he should come to me for assistance.

Re: Hyperfocus. I've seen people IRL who can do that sort of stuff. Basically, he hardly focuses at all most of the time and when he does, it's just a little more than a "normal" person would focus. Keith can only hyperfocus because he's trained himself to do so. Though it's not actually in his profile, he has some amount of ADD. It is a little bit more natural, as he doesn't actually have any sort of special powers that go along with it. All it is would be the ability to focus slightly better than an average person (and quite a bit better than he normally does).

Re: Chess. Yeah, I need to get back into playing soon. <_<

Re: Exam. Like I said, I'm going to be figuring out more before I message one of the staff members and request an exam. I also need to work on figuring out some other IRL stuff first. But I will take the exam and I will do well enough. *smirks*
