I'll try to clear up any confusion there is in regards to the "Phase Period," here. A "Phase Period," AKA "Phase Time" automatically occurs at, and encompasses, a specified time during the final IRL week of an active roleplay "Setting." Whether the Setting is the "Morning," "Afternoon," or "Evening," an "End Date" will be assigned to it in the "Announcements & News" section of the site (look for the "Month X - Day X - Setting" threads). Once the Phase Period is active, it will end only when the currently active Setting ends (the current Setting's End Date). Note1: The "End Date" of a Setting is NOT the final day of that Setting - it is the Start Date of the Next Setting. Note2: The Phase Period coincides with the current Setting - it does not replace it (if this wasn't already clear). Think of it as a Bonus week, where you can do extra things on top of the norm. Q: What is the Phase Period for, exactly? A: During a Phase Period, users can advance their characters in a current Setting into the upcoming Setting and begin posts for that Setting immediately, if they so desire. Strictly as an example: it is the "Evening Setting's" Phase Period, which has 2 more IRL days left until the "Morning Setting" for "Month X - Day X." The user behind the character "Rina Kasakura" has ended the character's activities in the current Setting by having her go to sleep in her dormroom bed. At this point, the user has a couple of options:
The main reasons behind a Phase Period is to keep RP activity flowing whenever a new Setting looms near, and to prevent instantaneous jumps that not everyone follows along with, despite End Dates being announced. Basically it's a "Heads up!" and a "You can jump ahead if you want..." all in the span of one solid timeframe. Q: How long is a Phase Period? A: Depends on the Setting. Here is the current default breakdown: Morning/Evening Setting (1-Week Settings): The Phase Period begins on the IRL Wednesday of that week*. (May be termed as "Phase Dayz") Afternoon Setting (2-Week Settings): The Phase Period begins on the last (second)Monday of that Setting (May be termed as "Phase Week") *May be changed, some day, as I don't recall the reason I set it this way, or maybe the reason for it may no longer apply. - Until I say otherwise, treat it as stated above. Q: What if the "Next Setting" changes via debate during a Phase Peiod? A: I'll use an example for this. Current Setting: Afternoon Original Next Setting: Evening New Next Setting via Debate: Afternoon (the next "day") During the Phase Week, If you've already started a thread for the Evening Setting and the next Setting changes to the next day's Afternoon Setting, you can do any of the following:
Any further questions that are brought up will be explained in this post. From this point onward, Phase Periods will be announced only in the 1st post of a Setting Announcement thread (the "Month X - Day X - Setting" threads). It will be up to the individual users to keep track of Phase Periods, Setting End Dates, etc. Edited by Rina Kasakura, Sep 18 2009, 09:48 PM.
