She smacked him lightly on the back. "No slouching!" perhaps a little too loud for a library as a slurry of "shhh"-es reminded her where she was. Rolling her eyes dismissively, she turned her attention back at the boy, speaking more silently. "A true student must present a general will and overall desire to learn. You can't teach someone unwilling to learn anymore then you can feed an animal unwilling to eat. You must prove that you actually do want to learn, before being an acceptable pupil." She took a seat now, across from him. "I know what you're thinking. 'But Doctor Charlotte Swebb, how do I, a juvenille detention punk, profess my desire to become your pupil?' That, dear Seican, is for you to figure out on your own." |
