Storm growled at her insolence, then his eyes shot open and his growl subsided. "I-...I...don't know. I mean, of course they'll reject it but...." He shot up, standing, then teetering slightly and catching himself on the edge of the bed with a hiss. "There should be a book, a big one, holding all the rules of the lands. Every kingdom has one. In there it should read something talking about the ruler cannot be disobeyed on a direct order to save themselves. Charlie!" The door opened and Charlie entered, bowing. "Sir!" "Go find the book filled with rules and...things...about the...kingdom." Charlie, with a look of concern, nodded and immediately left the room. Storm laid down on the bed, stretching out on his stomach and laying his head on his arms. "I'm gonna....sleep...Read that book....find that passage...it's in there....I used to have our book memorized but....I can't think right now...." |

Crystal sat, rather helpless on the ground, as Storm went about making choices. He needed sleep, but would he be able to. Crystal sighed with the thoughts of the many nights she spent alone because he was restless, out and doing things that brought him harm often. Rather than fight the exhaustion, she crawled to lean against the wall and closed her eyes, resting through it. "Take the bed and rest. I'll just..." Her words ran short and her breathing grew heavy, sleep over coming her despite what Storm told her to do. |

Birds chirping on the balcony, that's what caused his headache to grow in size. He laid there in the bed, Crystal positioned so she slept with her head on his chest while he held the book he had had Charlie go fetch, reading and skimming every page, looking for that one section they needed. He hadn't slept at all those 5 hours, looking through that enormous book. He looked down at the Crystal coming awake on him and smiled softly. "I was right. You were pretty tired. I hope you sleep tonight. It's only 4 hours to go before the sun is down." |

She smiled back at him, hair sticking to her face and his shirt. She pulled it aside and said, "I'm sure I will get by." Her body was far less stressed, but she stayed pressed against Storm's warmth. "I see you didn't get any sleep yet. Will you be able to sleep tonight?" Crystal asked, more irritation than worry lacing her thoughts. He never rested, and she worried about him. It was also trouble some. Even if he didn't always need it, the rest would bring him back to strength. From his scanning, she could tell he hadn't found what they were looking for yet, so she hadn't bothered to inquire about it. I really need come water she thought to herself with dreamy thoughts of the waves lapping over her body in placid peace. |

He smiled down at her, closing the book but keeping a finger on the page he was on. "I'll tell you what. If you can lull me to sleep tonight, I'll sleep. All night, I assure you." He kissed her forehead, having studied her habits. "There's a calm creek not even half a mile from the baby you named not long ago. I'm sure they'd love a visit. Especially the mother. I highly doubt she'd reject your use of it." With that, he reopened the book, his eyes continuing their search. "I'll bet she'd love to help you plan for your-erm-our wedding, too."

Crystal caught his slip up and her eyes narrowed in a sort of warning and playful taunt. "Well, I think I'd love to visit her," she said popping out of bed. She expected to fall, or maybe collapse with exhaustion, but she landed with a brisk step. With renewed energy, she started turned toward the sun from one window, which was falling from its peak already, signalling that night would fall within a few hours, and began doing forms for stretching and to channel herself, ignoring the baggy shorts and loose tank-top she had fallen asleep in for now. "So aside from the cuffs, have you found anything useful I might want to know, or anything funny in there," she asked, a spring in her voice as well. |

He smirked, not watching her. "I've found a few things. Found out why they are so against the queen being mate to the advisor. Hilarious reason, actually. Superstition. Found some rules that no longer exist but you may have interest in bringing back, here." He raised his gaze from the book. "So, yes, some odd and end things. I'll have the information found by the time you get back. I'm already halfway through the darn thing. And then we'll see what tactics you've come up with to get your wish of me sleeping. I know it's bothered you for some time. Don't be too harsh to me tonight, ok? Have fun." He went back to reading. |

Crystal raised an eyebrow. "You know, you have a very interesting sense of hilarious dear." She took a deep breath in, standing straight, and then out. After she had completed her routine, she sifted through clothes and picked out a decent looking, and comfortable outfit. She slipped into it with more energy than she had felt since being in the castle, and glanced at the door, slight grimace in her eyes knowing she would meet Charlie outside the chamber. She walked to the window instead and gazed out at the world around. "It's so free out there. they come and go as they please, look up to me as something grand, and yet, I am trapped in here like a bug in a jar. I can only look out at them it seems," voiced aloud, not realizing she had actually spoken the words. |

"You mean humor, dear." He looked up and smiled widely then listened to her thoughts come aloud. He folded down the page he was on and closed the book. "If you wanted privacy, you should've told me. I have mastered a few tricks to be alone as a king, ya know." He got up and walked over to her, removing his shirt and slipping it over her head then doing the same with his pants, not listening to her protests and easily forcing them on her. He then went to her closet and pulled out a boy-ish looking hat with a good sized rim, putting it on her head and pulling it down so her face was shaded. "You don't think I dress the way I do on occassion for no real reason at all, do you? Keep the hat on at all times, except with that woman. I feel something about her, something I trust, and feel we'll need. Everyone will stop a girl walking alone, but no one will stop a boy. Don't speak to anyone and no one will notice the difference. No offense, but wearing your outfit plus my clothes kind of covers everything that stands out in a woman." He smiled. "Enjoy your night. I'll take care of the guards. I'll be there if you need me." |

Crystal opened the window and said, "I think I would prefer to take the unconventional route." She hopped onto the ledge before Storm could mount a protest to her and lept out. She fell like a rock, but she had stoned herself already. An out sticking piece caught her hand and she managed a very elegant, and dangerous flip, using her momentum to carry her away from any danger. after a few more skilled hits, she landed faithfully on the ground, unnoticed and unharmed. "I may not have my power, but that doesn't mean I'm human," She said under her breath. With her new male appearance, she stood strong and walked with an expansive air, as if she were taking up more space than she actually did. She passed the guards that were station at the entrance to the castle grounds with no problem, a hidden smile to herself at how easily she passed them, and a silent thanks to Storm as well. With in a short time, she had moved from the more prosperous sector of town to the slums, and quickly found the house of the new mother. The streets were quite empty when she glanced around, and hesitantly, she knocked on the door, flipping the hat up so if she came to the door, s familiar face would meet her. |

Storm smirked as he watched her, having had no intention to stop her, having planned her to take that route in the first place. "I meant, cover for you, dear." He spoke to himself and sighed softly, walking back to the bed and making himself comfortable, bringing the book back up on his lap and opening it to where he'd left off. He already held an entire list of excuses in his mind in case the Queen was needed. The door creaked open and hazel eyes met Crystal's. They opened widely in recognition and the door quickly flew the entire way open, instead of the meer crack it had just been. "Madam! What brings you here, might I ask? Though of course you are always welcome! Whenever you wish! Please, come in! What are you wearing? Are you in danger?" Her hand flew to her lips. "I have a place where you can hide. Storm made sure it would be able to hold all three of us, Amber, you, and I, should something happen. Pray tell, is it emergency enough for that?" Her eyes darted back to the baby's room. |

Crystal hastily dispelled Pearl's escalating assumptions. "No no, it's nothing of the sort. I was on my way to a stream just outside of town, but wanted to stop by here and see how you were doing," She said. Crystal glanced around and stepped inside, closing the door easily behind them. "And this attire is just to...blend in more." "I see that Storm certainly prepares for everything," She said, not surprised in the least. "So how are you and Amber then?" Crystal asked, pulling the hat from her head and letting her hazel brown hair fall into place, slightly askew. Edited by shadow, May 20, 2013, 10:22 pm.

She crossed her arms and gave a soft smile. "You snuck away, didn't you? As long as Storm knows of it, I'll keep you secret. He loves you too much for you to deceive him and not trust him, you know." She spun on her heel and walked into the kitchen, putting a kettle on the stove and making tea, then going and getting Amber. She brought the small baby into the room and gave her to Crystal, sitting beside her. "She is doing wonderfully. Storm offered his assistance to me, I hope you don't mind? I told him I'd run it by you before I asked for anything. But I could really use a crib and I can't leave far enough from the house to get the proper wood for it and I don't know how to make one and..." She breathed deeply, flustered, then gave a sad smile to Crystal. "My husband died recently. He was a soldier and died in one of our battles. Storm found out and wanted to check on me and that's how he found out I was going to have Amber. The battle my husband fell in, though... my husband was still not healed from the previous battle, you see, and the generals shouldn't have allowed him to go but..." She hook her head, wiping a tear from her eye. "I'm terribly sorry, you came here to visit and I should be more merry and hospitable. I have tea going and I actually have a nice creek in the back yard if you'd like to use that. The sun hits it just right and it should be nice and warm. I could join you, even. Amber is beginning to find her love for water." She smiled, looking at the baby lovingly. A knock came on the door and Storm hissed, closing the book again. "It hasn't even been 20 minutes. I'm never going to find this section if they start being like this." He grumbled to himself, getting up and going to the door. He opened it. "The Queen isn't feeling well, please come bac-" Defense instantly sprang into his eyes as he met the gaze outside the door. "What do you want." The general narrowed his eyes. "I and the other generals have found a battle we cannot afford to miss, let us speak with the Queen." Storm's crimson eyes began to dance, being in a field he had been considered an expert in. "Whatever you need her for you can show me." The general scoffed. "The Queen. Now." Storm bit his tongue. "Come back by tomorrow morning. She is resting. She should feel better by morning. She has fever and everyone knows no one can think clearly with that." "All the better. I said move." A sound of ringing metal resounded and Storm's eyes grew wide as blood hit the floor. He instantly looked around but saw no sign of any guards, including Charlie. He hissed as he felt the sword being pulled from his abdomen. "Charlie!" The sound of footsteps were heard, but the sound of ringing metal down the hall stopped them. Storm growled to himself. The other generals are here, keeping everyone away. Were they planning to go for Crystal? His eyes fell on the sword coming down for his shoulder and he bit back his scream as it hit its mark. He kicked the general away, drawing the dagger he held at his waist. And no one is here to witness. They probably already have a story prepared. If I hurt him, they could turn it all back on me. His mind was whirling. He put the dagger back at his waist and timed his kick just right as the general came charging for him. He planted his foot on the general's chest and kicked hard, sending him flying backwards, hitting his head and knocking him out, letting his body slide to the floor. Storm inwardly thanked his professor who had taught him that. 'A kick can do a lot. It's all about angle and timing.' He might have gotten some brutal disciplines, but he did appreciate what he'd learned. His thoughts sprang back to the present. "Charlie!" He called again and he heard the familiar sword come from its sheath and Charlie's voice. "Move or I will move you." I can't let him get himself killed. His eyes lost their pupil and he disappeared, the entire palace beginning to heat up greatly. Screams began being heard within the palace doors and Storm appeared behind the two generals blocking Charlie from him. His voice echoed Charlie's, though icy and demonic. "Move or I will move you." The generals turned and their already-laughing expressions didn't change. "We were ranked as generals for a reason." "You are correct. But I was marked as captain; General of the Army. Higher than you. The only one I receive orders from is the Queen. You have proven why you have been named "generals." He pointed at his bloody self. "What you can do to an enemy caught off-guard. Do you want me to show you what made me a general of the entire army when I have a spotted target?" Both the generals braced themselves, then looked to one another. A rank meant a lot to them. "This isn't the last you've dealt with us." They both spat and ran down the stairs, the rest of the generals following them, leaving the palace. Storm's let his pupils and heat return to him, the palace cooling down. He looked down the stairs at the guards gathered there. "The Queen is your priority, your ruler, not the army. You are ranked higher than them. So if I ever see them out-doing you, there will be changes. On your throats." His cold eyes fell on Charlie as the other guards rushed around, taking the positions and brushing up on their armory. "Charlie. Never leave that door, especially if I or Crystal are within the room. Not unless we order it. And even then, you better be closer than you were now. Understand?" Charlie bowed deeply, shaking, having been taken by surprise at blatant speak of mutiny and an almost-civil-war. "Y-yes, sir." Storm looked down at him then approached, running his fingers through the boy's hair and messing it. He gave a kind smile. "You did good, Charlie. I'm proud of you. Go back to your position." Charlie rose, still shaken. "Sir, you're terribly wounded...." Guilt swam in his eyes. Storm looked down at himself, the pain beginning to sink in. "So it seems." He cursed himself then sighed. "I told you to call me Storm. Come, take me to the room." |

Crystal gently cradled Amber in her arms, the golden sheen of her eyes bringing back memories of times that seemed so long ago, yet weren't too far gone. she smiled, not looking away as she spoke to Pearl. "Storm helped me to sneak out actually, so he certainly knows. I wouldn't leave him to worry like that." Crystal looked at a seat, an old wooden chair with only a thin cushion for padding, and decided to stand. "I'm sorry for your loss though. I've seen my share of war and had pain as well. If you need help from Storm or me, please feel free to ask," Crystal said, her eye brows giving her face a sort of sorrowful love to Pearl. She walked to the only small window in the sorry excuse of a home, feeling a twang of pain knowing that so many people lived in such poverty here, much the way she had, and looked to the creek. The water, flowing and pure, shimmered with light as the drooping sun placed itself just right. "It is quite lovely isn't it. The water?" She nodded approval, sudden energy washing over her to bring life back to the glum mood that had set in. "We can take a step out and then come back in for tea and chat for a while then," Crystal said, returning a now squirming Amber back to her mother. Pearl lead the way through the back door, much to Crystal's surprise, and down to the back when the creek ran. Crystal smiled and said, "If you would excuse me, I just can't wait." She pulled the heavy male clothes off, leaving her lighter clothes she had planned to wear, and in one leap, cleared the edge, slipping beneath the shimmering surface. a long moment passed and Crystal didn't emerge, her body blissfully submerged in something she had been deprived of recently. The water pressed against her, trying to find its way into her being, and she let the power flow, even through the cuff that had been suppressing her. The ebb and flow began its natural pattern, the energy flowing evenly over and through her. The cuff had no effect in such a natural state, and Crystal could finally relax, the muscles relinquishing tension that had been pressed by the suppression. The water around her stopped the normal down stream flow, creating a cocoon of placid liquid that held her just below the water. Her hair was shimmering a glorious blue as she became visible through the water, and the tint played more subtly around her body as well. this was her natural Arcane abilities, though she had less control than she wished. that would be her next goal when time finally permitted. Pearl smiled, taking Amber in her arms gently, the baby instantly calming at her mother's touch. Pearl followed Crystal to the creek and stepped in, much more slowly than Crystal, carrying Amber with her. She found her normal rock and sat on it, letting Amber sit in her lap and the water gently splash around their bodies, Amber giggling with glee at the water she was tied to. Pearl waited patiently for Crystal to return to the surface, playing with Amber kindly with eyes as gentle as the stream. Charlie was instantly to Storm's side, taking Storm's arm and wrapping it around his neck on Storm's uninjured side. This time, Storm made no argument and let himself be led back to the room. Charlie led him to the bedside and helped him to lie down. With trouble, Storm got himself into a more-comfortable position as Charlie folded a blanket and laid it under Storm's waist to help the wound to his stomach. "I'll go fetch a healer." Storm immediately grabbed his wrist. "No. You'll have someone else fetch one." Charlie nodded in understanding. "Yes, Sir-Storm. Yes, Storm." He got up and walked to the door, coming back quickly. "We will have a healer in just a few minutes." Storm didn't meet his gaze, knowing his eyes always gave him away. The fear that knawed at him. I hate healers. I wish Crystal were here.... He sighed inwardly, swallowing. "A healer you trust, I hope." Charlie bowed his head. "I sent for a healer I'd hand my life to over and over." |

Crystal felt something unsettling, a sort of energy from else where. In her current state, half in and half out of the world, she couldn't seem to pinpoint it, but it bothered her. She knew something was off, but couldn't pull herself to leave such pleasant and refreshing water. The pulsing water pressed around her for a while longer until finally, her eyes opened and she came back. Crystal broke the surface, returning the natural flow of the creek, and shivered with strength. "Wow. I've missed this so much," she stated aloud to no one. Crystl fought the urge to bend the water to her will, still warry of the cuff that was her restraint. "I will certainly be coming here more often. I see you enjoy it as well. Water really is the most peaceful. Too bad Storm can't stand it." Crystal smiled at him, her cheeks turning pink as she added, "But of course, I still love him." |

Pearl laughed softly. "Love, true love, can withstand any obstacle. If you're ever doubting if the relationship is right because you are water and he is fire, complete opposites, then keep in mind. Someone can defeat fire. Someone can defeat water. But no person can defeat them both together." She smiled widely. "I think you two are marvelous, really. If I may talk about it so boldly as this, it would make me quit ecstatic to see you two wed. I have noticed neither of you wear a ring." Charlie placed a clean towel over Storm's wound on his stomach, taking another one to the one on his shoulder. "The one in your abdomen is pretty bad, Storm. I'm going to keep pressure on it. Could you carterize it a little? It's bleeding like crazy." "It went through me, of course it's bad!" Storm hissed, his fear starting to get the better of him. He felt his body getting hot, but not with his fire. He felt a cold sweat hit him. He closed his eyes tightly. "I can't do anything helpful right now. Please stop talking." He hissed between his teeth, trying to clear his mind, calm himself. "Sorry...." Charlie whispered, not moving his hands from the two towels. |

Crystal smiled to herself and let her fingers run through the swirling waters. "Actually, we have talked about it a bit. Storm isn't too keen on the idea. His culture doesn't both with such frivolous things as weddings, but I want to be wed." She sighed and floated back into the water. "In either case, I don't know much about weddings honestly. Only when I went to a friends wedding did I learn anything. It was beautiful though. Set just on the top of volcano." Crystal stopped to think a moment and added, "Quite a strange location it would seem, but it was actually marvelous in the light of the magma and the darkened sky." Crystal felt another pang rise up in her of something that was off. In her mind, she reached as far as she could for Storm, barely able to feel for his mind. I wanted to check on you. make sure you aren't stirring any trouble. Zakuro was scouring the lands below from his perch on Lazura, who was no longer mere bone and power, but the elegant black, purple, and turquoise dragon that lived long ago as well. Though Zakuro showed nothing in his features, his eyes held grim reality at the war strength that was building. I kingdom adjacent to Wateria and not far from his own was rallying force, and he could already guess what for. "We should warn Storm," Lazura said in her majestic vocie. Zakuro nodded and they wheeled about in the sky in a southwestern direction. |

Pearl's eyes lit up. "I could help with a wedding! We could make it even more beautiful, make it your dream wedding! I could even sew you a gorgeous dress!" Excitement rang in her voice. Storm's focus immediately went to Crystal's voice in his head. He forced his thoughts to stay calm. I haven't stirred anything, but things aren't going too well. Not to rush you, but I'd really like you here if you have time. Take the balcony. Not the doors. And wear my clothes. He winced as Charlie shifted his pressure slightly, the boy trying to fix the awkward position his shoulder had been in. A knock came on the door and it opened, Storm listening to the footsteps of the healer coming in. He couldn't help his voice this time and it was weak and scared: Please come. |

Crystal was suddenly alert, her uneasiness now cemented by Storm. She swam to the edge and pulled herself out of the water saying, "I would love that. It would be grand to have you help me out." Crystal exerted slight force to pull the water that dripped in rhythmic patterns from her clothes. "I'm sorry to cut my visit so short suddenly, but something urgent requires my attention. I'll try to come back when I have time again." She clumsily pulled the clothes that Storm had forced on her, now looking more disheveled than before. She smiled at Pearl and slipped her hair up in the hat, pulling it over her eyes. "Take care, and stay safe." With that Crystal used her natural strength and skill to leap onto Pearl's house and then on across other, keeping as low a profile as possible. Soon, with her skilled acrobatics, she had made it to the castle, however, the gates had been closed and security was posted on the battlements. She thought a guard was moving to approach her, having just landed a little too close, and she backed off into the crowd. Crystal glanced around, taking in what she could see as she thought. I can't get in through the gates without revealing myself, and I don't think that's a good idea. It high; too high to simply jump. If I can find a hold I might be able to get up, but they will see me. if only I had my water. |
